‘Good news for pro-lifers’: US abortion rate continues downward trend
The number of abortions in the United States along with the abortion rate has continued its downward trend, the U.S.-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicated in a report released this week.

Overall, it’s “good news for pro-lifers,” who are seeing their efforts to stop abortion reflected in these numbers, said Dr. Michael New, one of the foremost researchers on abortion statistics in the United States. New is currently a visiting professor of political science and social research at Catholic University of America as well as an associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute and a fellow at the Witherspoon Institute.

“Both the number of abortions and the abortion rate fell by approximately two percent since 2015,” New told LifeSiteNews. ...

I think Jim is right, women are self managing or self medicating their own abortions. There might actually be more now and we just can’t number them all.

To answer Douglas Fir's question this was taken from abortion73.com:

"The CDC reports that during the 1970's, roughly 24% of all U.S. abortions were performed on black women. That percentage rose to 30% in the 1980's, 34% in the 1990's and has held at 36% throughout the 2000's. That means that about 31% of all U.S. abortions since 1973 have been performed on African American women. Based on the January 2018 estimate that there have been 60 million abortions in the United States since 1973, we can deduce that well over 18 million of them were performed on black babies. As of July 2017, the black population in the U.S. stood somewhere around 40 million, which means that abortion has reduced the size of the black community by more than 30%—and that doesn't include the children and grandchildren that would have been born to those aborted more than a generation ago."

I say that Ms. Sanger has been successful in America. And her prodigies in the Democratic Party want to pick up where Obama left off, not only here in America but also in Africa.

The sad thing is hardly anyone cares. Tsk tsk and a shake of the head is not enough. "And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their sexual immorality, nor of their thefts."
(Rev 9:21)

Let's see...two percent over 5 years...is that a big decrease? I don't think so. It seems 'within the margin of error' used in other statistical figures.
More interesting stat would be the racial composition of abortions--has that changed since 2015? I ask this because the main intent of the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was to reduce the population of what she called 'undesirables' (blacks, Hispanics, Chinese, etc). How has her intent been accomplished? Just asking, that's all.

Jim, I understand the rational of your last verse but I do not agree. I seriously doubt that the majority of any nation will ever be saved; even if everyone is persuaded to profess to be Christian. There is a reason that abortion exploded in 1973; it was made legal. And before that, illegal abortions such as so-called "back alley" abortions were no where as numerous as proponents say. The only sure way to reduce abortions in any nation is to outlaw it as violating the right to life a human being (murder). And applying stiff penalties of real jail time to everyone who participates from the parents on down through those who actually perform the abortions both professional and nonprofessional who claim to practice medicine. Also, jail and/or stiff fines for companies and individuals that manufacture drugs that induce abortions or harm the unborn child or pregnant mother.

I feel so strongly about this that I believe any nation that freely sanctions abortion should be labelled as a genocidal regime to its people; and be subject to everything from strong economic boycotts to even inducing a civil war or military invasion to save the lives of its innocent citizens. However, in America all it takes is elections and repentance of the do-nothing members of Christ's body.

John 18:36-37
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world. Then Pilate said to him, So you are a king? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice. ---ESV

'Ignorance is Bliss,' for many pro-lifers.

Most every abortion is wrong! 👎 if you don't have the majority of people against abortion in the country, the only proper way to stop frivolous abortions is to bring that majority to Christ 👍
