Riot police storm Hong Kong malls to nip more protests
Riot police stormed several malls in Hong Kong on Sunday in a move to thwart more pro-democracy protests, as the city’s leader heads to Beijing for talks on deepening economic integration between the semi-autonomous Chinese territory and mainland China.

There were calls online urging protesters to gather in seven locations to sustain a push for political reform following a chaotic day of protests and clashes with police on Saturday, with the anti-government movement showing no signs of letting up after nearly five months.

Most of the rallies didn’t pan out Sunday as scores of riot police took positions, searching and arresting people, dispersing crowds and blocking access to a park next to the office of the city’s embattled leader, Carrie Lam. ...

I think your facts are wrong, Jim. Christians are continuing to engage and pastors are trying to figure out how to walk a tight rope between warring factions within their own church. You need better sources, my friend.

Quiet Christian:
https://tinyurl.com/y66rybs6 (What are the triads behind the violent attacks in Hong Kong?). Is a good article on the triads, and who could possibly be in the employ of the Communists.

It looks like the Christians and Catholics are keeping out of the battle. they certainly wouldn't be looking good in the last several weeks if they hadn't been!
https://tinyurl.com/zwg8o3o (Rendering To Caesar---A Biblical Perspective On Government). Most Chinese Christian seem to be quite good at that, in fact--downright Biblical 👍

Interesting that the head of the Hong Kong government, Cary Lamm, a Catholic, has a son that lives in China. Oh, and a really bright one who went to England

According to a news item I saw on World Magazine's website, the attacker with the knife and buting ears was telling prtestors that Hong Kong belongs to China. Sounds like he wasn't claiming Christ or singing hymns:

https://world.wng.org/content/hong_kong_protests_turn_increasingly_violent

The situation seems difficult, Jim, and there are Christians on both sides. John UK and I had a profitable discussion regarding the place of Christians in this ongoing struggle. I still disagree but he has very valid points. I maintain that Christians may fight for their freedom to worship the Lord our God. This may well be a losing battle, but the PRC will crush any organized Christians with the Cultural Revolution 2.0. Now is the time to stand up.

This doesn't look very Christian to me 👎
ABC.net.au wrote:
Hong Kong anti-Government protesters crowded a shopping mall in running clashes with police that saw a man with a knife slash several people and bite off part of a local politician's ear.

Key points:

• Images and video show that district councillor Andrew Chiu had part of his ear bitten off
• The attack happened after police set upon protesters at an upmarket shopping mall
• Hong Kong's chief executive is due to travel to the mainland on Wednesday....

from "Hong Kong knife attack wounds several, leaving one councillor with a partially bitten-off ear"

it would be wise for a Christian stayed off the streets during these protests now 👎

Anyone remember the news item posted here weeks ago about the protestors singing hymns? It seemed to give you the idea that it was a Christian protest. I even asked if anyone else had seen that reported on a secular news site.
Of course, looking for news on the internet is pretty haphazard, since China controls their internet, so no one inside that country can ever report on 'real life.' In Mexico, the drug gangs control the news media by simply giving the old 'lead poisoning' technique to any reporter or editor who dares report on what is really happening there. The same could be said of Guatemala, where the brother of the President was recently convicted of drug dealing, and the country is not being upset with protest like the ones you read about in Barcelona, Spain or Chile.
Cocaine is still being transported from Colombia, now in close coordination with those super-powerful gangs in Mexico.
And do you remember people in the USA saying, if we legalize marijuana, those gangs will go away.

I have to wonder how long the the Communist Chinese government will withhold attacking these people?

https://tinyurl.com/y3m3td69 (Hong Kong knife attack wounds several, leaving one councillor with a partially bitten-off ear)

These people in Hong Kong should realize that they are not dealing with a sweet and lovable democracy but a vicious Communist government. ❗👎👿

Dust off those British passports if you have them ❗👍
