Reading and Math Scores in U.S. are Falling.
Math and reading scores for fourth- and eighth-grade students in the United States have gone down compared to 2017, according to numbers from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

“Over the past decade, there has been no progress in either mathematics or reading performance, and the lowest performing students are doing worse,” said NCES associate commissioner Peggy Carr.

The finding is based on data collected as part of the organization’s 2019 National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP), also known as the Nation’s Report Card. NAEP is a congressionally-mandated project that looks at representatives samples of students from every state in the nation, from Washington, D.C., and from select large urban school districts. ...

It's true that math is oppressive to the lazy. It requires people to think. The lazy whining left doesn't want to think, and their handlers are good with it.

Latest news is that Seattle Public Schools will start teaching that math is oppressive! This is the kind of news children and youths have been waiting years to get. Calculus is one subject that I don't see any use for, but it was required to graduate from many colleges.
The Seattle idea is more about Marxist thought about the oppression of lower classes, etc.
It all makes me think of that old saying, "A man without a plan (or math knowledge) will always be serving the man with a plan (or with math knowledge)

From the Article:-

"But sight reading became the norm in much of the country after being resurrected by John Dewey, an anti-Christian socialist and humanist widely considered the founding father of America’s public education system.

It also doesn’t help the prospects’ of our students that the left continually seeks to lower educational standards as a way of leveling performance disparities between ethnic groups,"

"When the Left’s aim is statism and centralized government, it’s unsurprising that their agenda is dumbing down America’ students. An illiterate, uneducated populace is so much easier for the power-hungry to control." (From Article)

Looks like the fault is with the Democrats again.

The Political Left (Socialists and Liberalists) are attacking the future of America through the education of the children.

If its not abomination, abortion or other moral and ethical lefty onslaughts, then their indoctrination includes havoc in the schools and education system.

Beware the satanic Democrats.

Douglas fir, immigrants would know how to do math without smartphones the same for reading. So apparently they aren't the problem.

That fact is testing and curriculum are not based on the students maturity. Many tests are geared for a progressive formula of testing the students for a year ahead of the current grade level. But with the pitfalls of iPhones, social media, cultural poverty, marijuana, alcohol addiction,
Testing companies selling point is to gear a curriculum toward students who are focusing on academic and achievement. Otherwise, testing companies are making billions on a stipend from state legislators edict that all students will be tested and if you fail, so does your school district. But the company still gets paid.
Besides, texting, instanap leads to a uneducated lout.

I wonder if this is related to the growing number of illegal immigrants in the schools. Though, if they were coming from India or China, those math scores would be going up.

No one needs math anymore when the smartphone is right there with an app for it. I like to test cashiers by giving them a few extra pennies so that they will give me a quarter back, like giving them $3.02 when the bill is $2.77. The printout is correct in saying $0.25 change, but you should see the look on the face of the cashiers!
(The same thing has happened with cursive writing..who is learning it? do you know it? do your grandkids know it?)
