An influencer economy riddled with deceit
Ipsy, an online cosmetic brand, was a pioneer in paying social-media stars hefty fees to promote its eye shadow and lip gloss in Instagram posts and YouTube videos.

Now, the brand is leading the way again, this time by pulling back.

Companies will funnel billions of dollars this year to the online personalities, known as influencers, who pitch their products on social media. Yet with no way to measure sales or verify how many people even see the ads, the companies that paved the way for the influencer economy‚ÄĒmostly early adopters like Ipsy‚ÄĒare questioning if it‚Äôs worth it.

What began as friends and family sharing their favorite products has become a lucrative advertising industry of celebrity endorsers, influencers and meme creators. Such paid endorsements, known as sponsored content, are the online equivalent of a 30-second TV spot. Big-name stars can command $100,000 or more for a single ...

Neil,

Thanks for your comment. I am not a conspiracy nut, but I have no way of denouncing them either? Since you mentioned women and the infamous cigarette issue, I am going to post something I came across years ago. For full disclosure, I want to say I personally agree with this comment and it has nothing to do with Christian women.

‚ÄúThe secret correspondence of the Illuminati also revealed their plan to use the liberation of women for their purposes, as is stated‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúThere is no way of influencing men so powerfully as by means of the women. These should therefore be our chief study; we should insinuate ourselves into their good opinion, give them hints of emancipation from the tyranny of public opinion and of standing up for themselves; it will be an immense relief to their enslaved minds to be freed from any one bond of restraint, and it will fire them more, and cause them to work for us with zeal, without knowing that they do so; for they will only be indulging their own desire of personal admiration.‚ÄĚ

The original Bavarian Illuminati was suppressed by rulers and the RCC, hence the need for secrecy. So do they exist still today? Possibly, but then a secret society is supposed to be a *secret*. I believe there is no need for modern, anti-Christian NGOs, foundations, and such like to keep their goals secret anymore given the weakness of the modern church and the increasing public tolerance of the blatant falsehoods they peddle.

I can't imagine a worse conspiracy than to destroy Christianity and the civilized society it made possible, yet "Progressives," globalists, and environmentalists have make it clear that's exactly what they want.

Old news: Edward Bernays undermined the American taboo against women smoking by getting some "Women's Rights" marchers to flaunt their "torches of freedom" in NYC's 1929 Easter Day Parade. Virginia Slims later played this "Women's Lib" card by showing "strawman" ads insinuating that home-making was demeaning in the "bad old days."

Recent events have vindicated his evil genius; media think the public will believe *anything* they're fed by authority figures, no matter how absurd. And I fear they're right, and people who think they're educated and wise are not immune.
Ex. 23:2 "Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil"
Yes, Edward Bernays was a very interesting fellow who understood how easy it was to brainwash society. Reminds me of the scriptures that teach we should be careful what we listen to and how we listen to something; Luke 8:16-18 and Mark 4:21-25. I prefer to call him a propagandist. I see this brainwashing in so many areas of our society, e.g. commercials, public schools, the work force and yes many churches.

Do you believe there is a group(s) referred to as the Illuminati?
