Franklin Graham: 'Socialists Have Made It Very Clear That They Stand Against the Church'
In an interview with CBN News, evangelist Franklin Graham is standing firm against the recent controversial comments by 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke, who said he would want to strip churches of their tax-exempt status if they don't support same-sex marriage.

Graham says it's indicative of a much broader moral slide by progressives in American politics.

"I think the Left, the socialists have made it very clear that they stand against the church," Graham tells CBN News. "Unless we bow down and accept their agenda as it relates to the LGBTQ agenda, then they'll take our tax exempt status, and everybody in the room cheered and clapped when he said that. And of course the other candidates clapped and cheered as well. And that just shows you where their heart is and where they're going to go." ...

Stevenr, you are right. The natural response is to attack the source and denegrate the source to silence the impact of the source's message. Then the story becomes about whatever pet issue is out there. It's a rhetorical trick that has worked well because then the story gets lost as we attempt to uphold either the source or the source's message.

If we meditate on the Law day and night, we are not busy slaying the reputation of Moses through whom the Law was given. We're considering the Law. Now Frankie Graham isn't Moses and his message isn't inspired, but too often the politics of the posters overshadows the right and wrong of the story.

I would say that the biggest problem I see here on SermonAudio is the same exact problem I see between Democrats and Republicans today.
When we are talking about someone doing something wrong, there is rarely a discussion of “this person is wrong.“
It is always a discussion of, ‚Äúbut this other person did worse...‚ÄĚ
I see the same exact thing with sinners when confronted of their sin.
If things are ever going to change, there needs to be a mature discussion of truth that says black is black, white is white, drop dead.
Just saying

I think you, Jim, and Mr. Solzhenitsyn are mistaken on this point. The difference between Christianity and socialism is not comparing love vs coercion. It is following Christ, who loved us first, rather than the state which is ambivalent at best and hates at worst. Socialist and communists are not interested in applying or even including the teaching of God's word. At best, they are like former President James Carter who's Jesus was a nice young Jewish man with some nice things to say and who wouldn't condemn anyone at any time, ignoring that He is God and existed before time began.

Please, Jim, please see the folly in your thinking. Do not follow the Jesus of the socialist. That Jesus doesn't exist. It's a trap!

Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote:
In different places over the years I have had to prove that socialism, which to many western thinkers is a sort of kingdom of justice, was in fact full of coercion, of bureaucratic greed and corruption and avarice, and consistent within itself that socialism cannot be implemented without the aid of coercion. Communist propaganda would sometimes include statements such as "we include almost all the commandments of the Gospel in our ideology". The difference is that the Gospel asks all this to be achieved through love, through self-limitation, but socialism only uses coercion. This is one point.

Untouched by the breath of God, unrestricted by human conscience, both capitalism and socialism are repulsive....

excerpts from, "An Interview with Alexander Solzhenitsyn"

He wouldn't be any fan of Trumpvangelists, nor of Franklin Graham ūüĎé

"To do evil a human being must first of all believe that what he's doing is good, or else that it's a well-considered act in conformity with natural law. Fortunately, it is in the nature of the human being to seek a justification for his actions...Ideology- That is what gives evildoing its long-sought justification and gives the evildoer the necessary steadfastness and determination. That is the social theory which helps to make his acts seem good instead of bad in his own and others' eyes, so that he won't hear reproaches and curses but will receive praise and honors....Thanks to ideology, the twentieth century was fated to experience evildoing on a scale calculated in the millions. This cannot be denied, nor passed over, nor suppressed." -Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn, 'The Gulag Archipelago'

Jim, your unbiblical political ideologies are simply evil. Focusing on what you like/dislike about the Graham family will not hide this fact.

Again I'm somewhat supportive of Billy Graham's speeches from the TV pulpit, the one can see why it is "like father like son" with the Grahams.

George Will wrote:
Asked in 1972 if he believed in miracles, Billy Graham answered: Yes, Jesus performed some and there are many "miracles around us today, including television and airplanes." Graham was no theologian.

Neither was he a prophet. Jesus said "a prophet hath no honor in his own country." Prophets take adversarial stances toward their times, as did the 20th century's two greatest religious leaders, Martin Luther King and Pope John Paul II. Graham did not. Partly for that reason, his country showered him with honors....

from, (Billy Graham was no prophet; His dealings with presidents mixed vanity and naivete)

What they both had in common is that where they were/are money-hungry.

But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler‚ÄĒnot even to eat with such a one.---ESV-2001

Well done Franklin you got it right this time.

Socialism is simply transgendered communism.
Both hate the Bible and Christianity because they help the masses to clearly see the nasty despotic truth about these satanic human 'ism's.

We only have to look at the reactions of communism/socialism in other nations such as Russia, China, France etc. They see the Christian theology as competitive and threatening to their tyrannical dictatorships.

And it is!

Hearts and minds....
Psalm 51: 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."

Ezek 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Jim wrote, ‚ÄúGraham is more dangerous than socialism.‚ÄĚ Bubba, it‚Äôs obvious that you have finally lost what little mind you had left. Socialism has led to the violent death of scores of millions of people. Has Frank Graham done that? Socialism has put many hundreds of millions of people in poverty with no hope of climbing out. Has FG done that? Socialism exists for one reason, and that is to rob the poor in order to enrich the powerful. While Mr. Graham may himself be wealthy, his Samaritan‚Äôs Purse exists for one reason, and that is to help desperately needy people (unlike the Clinton Foundation, which exists to help one desperately greedy couple, one of whom you believe would have made a good president). Like all liberals, Jim, you are severely deformed. You are twisted and shriveled in your heart, mind and soul. Will you repent, or will you perish?

This liberal author has several things right about Franklin Graham.
Stephen Prothoro wrote:
One of Billy Graham‚Äôs few Christian rivals during his heyday in the 1950s and 1960s was the Union Theological Seminary professor Reinhold Niebuhr, who criticized Graham for his ‚Äúpietistic individualism‚ÄĚ and his neglect of social sin. Graham read and reflected on Niebuhr, but stuck for the most part to his simpler message that the world would be saved only through individual regeneration. To his credit, however, Graham internalized some of the teachings of Niebuhr, including the tendency of mere mortals to mistake God‚Äôs voice for their own, and to mistake the gospel of Christ for the gospel of American civilization. In short, Graham had a humility almost entirely lost among the public preachers of our day, his eldest son included.

....Thanks to Franklin Graham and his cronies on the Religious Right, American evangelicalism has now become first and foremost a political rather than a spiritual enterprise.
