A historic first? Israel's Arabs could lead parliamentary opposition
Israel's Arab parties are set to be the largest non-ruling bloc in parliament - and could even lead the opposition - if a national unity government emerges from Tuesday's election.

A surge in turnout gave the Arab-dominated Joint List 13 of the Knesset's 120 seats, making it the third-largest grouping behind Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party, with 31 seats, and Benny Gantz's centrist Blue and White, with 33.

That would make the Joint List the largest opposition grouping in parliament if a unity government takes shape, a realistic possibility even though Gantz rebuffed Netanyahu's initial invitation.

No party drawn from the 21 percent Arab minority has ever been part of an Israeli government. But if Joint List head Ayman Odeh, 44, becomes opposition leader, he would receive monthly briefings from the Mossad intelligence agency and meet visiting heads of state, among ...

Some of the latest stuff from the Jerusalem Post
Gil Hoffman, Lahav Harkov wrote:
Arab parties have not recommended a candidate for prime minister since Yitzhak Rabin in 1992, and they have never joined a coalition. Tibi told Rivlin the Joint List would remain in the opposition.

The head of the Blue and White delegation, MK Moshe Ya’alon, said “all Zionist parties” would be welcome in the coalition – a statement interpreted as excluding the Joint List.

Rivlin told Blue and White MKs that the people of Israel were “disgusted” by prospects of a third election. When the Blue and White MKs said they want a unity government but have been ruling out Netanyahu because of his pending criminal charges, Rivlin reminded them that Netanyahu has not been indicted.

“The people of Israel want a government that will be stable,” Rivlin said. “A stable government cannot be a government without both of the two largest parties.”

An Israeli Goverment with an Arabic opposition???

Now there's a democratic first???

Quote ::
"The Israeli system of government is based on parliamentary democracy.[1] The Prime Minister of Israel is the head of government and leader of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government (also known as the cabinet). Legislative power is vested in the Knesset. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature." (Wiki)

Question will the hearts of the Arab politicians be on the side of Israel and the Jewish people?
On the side of Muslim nations?

Not really, WP, the Arabs would be lucky to get a cabinet seat
I don't know even if Netanyahu can be counted out yet. he may still also go to trial even if he became a Prime Minister again. his wife already made a plea deal for her behavior.

the article that I reference from the Jerusalem Post covers the topic fairly well. As FDR displayed all too well a person in a powerful can stay too long. This is one reason why we got an additional amendment to our Constitution. 👍

It’s would be the equivalent of have Llhan Omar as majority whip and AOC as speaker of the House.
By the way... lately I have noticed many b grade actresses are showing up on television looking like a blend of Meagan Markle and AOC , big eyes , big smile, dark complexion. Getting everyone used to the new queen in America.

Lahav Harkov wrote:
Joint List Ayman Odeh responded to each affront in turn, but this tweet from after the chatbot comment sums up his position: “Netanyahu is a psychopath without redlines and he wants to see blood. This shameful criminal will continue cheapening our blood as long as he thinks it will help him escape prison. We contacted Facebook. They must act immediately to put an end to Netanyahu’s racist and dangerous incitement against the Arab public.”...
If anything, there was a sort of symbiotic relationship between the Likud and the Joint List. Netanyahu attacked to motivate his voters to vote, and in response, the Joint List spurred its voters by calling Netanyahu and the Right racist.

THE RESULT of Netanyahu’s focus on Arab voters is his own nightmare scenario, the one he kept describing....

excerpt from, "Political Affairs: Netanyahu’s nightmare - Odeh becomes the kingmaker?"

Interesting article.
