'It was amazing being one of you, but I'm not any more,' says Hillsong's Marty Sampson
After weeks of wrestling publicly with his Christian faith, Marty Sampson appears to have said goodbye to Christianity - or at the very least, the Church - once and for all in an emotional Instagram update posted on Friday.

In the highly charged update, Sampson, who started out with Hillsong back in the nineties, said he had tears running down his face and that he already missed being around his Hillsong family.

"To the CHURCH of Jesus Christ, I forgive you, and I LOVE you. I've got tears running down my face because it's so true. I adore you Christians. I love you SO MUCH. That's all," he wrote.

"It was amazing being one of you, but I'm not any more. ...

I agree 100% with you. He never was "one of" us as he claims he was. If he was he would have remained with us. I don't like Hillsong, never did. Just a gut feeling, but not really my feeling..the Holy Spirit's guidance. I love and prefer hymns. We don't sing hardly any at our church.

The suggestions include financial stability, luck with job applications and visa approvals.

Pentecostalism is not just about rock music and laughs, it also promises the Holy Spirit can help you in this life, in practical ways, not just in the afterlife.

This "prosperity doctrine" is key to how Pentecostal Christianity is attracting new demographics of worshippers, particularly migrants and young people....

Christopher, This past Sunday at my Baptist Church the sermon was given by Associate Pastor Neil(because Pastor Steve went to Colorado to conduct the funeral of his brothers wife). The sermon was titled "The King Creator/Elohim The All-Powerful One Creator" from Genesis 1:1-3, 26-27; Matthew 28:18 and Hebrews 11:3.

The largest movement in Christianity is Pentecostalism. What happens if through instead of loosing their faith, they find Christ and free themselves from the shackles of the works based religion of Pentecostalism. And if this poor soul was a Pentecostal, did he just fake the tongues thing.

Well, if you can sit through around 17 minutes of a podcast you'll find out some of the history of Pentecostalism in Australia---

https://tinyurl.com/y4sqbcos

It is interesting to see what's happening down there with such organizations as Hillsong, but being from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation you do not find out what is wrong with it such as,

https://tinyurl.com/jga4xcx (Charismatic Chaos)

Apparently one of their secrets to the Pentecostal success at least in Australia is that they serve good coffee at these churches.

One can argue that Pentecostal churches are not particularly Christian --especially Hillsong--when you look at the Bible, and many of the members just grow up and leave , never really knowing what Christianity is, as apparently this person has done❗👎

1Peter 3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

Quote:-
But, he argues, willing that sin exist in the world is not the same as sinning. God does not commit sin in willing that there be sin. God has established a world in which sin will indeed necessarily come to pass by God’s permission, but not by his “positive agency.”

God is, Edwards says, “the permitter . . . of sin; and at the same time, a disposer of the state of events, in such a manner, for wise, holy and most excellent ends and purposes, that sin, if it be permitted . . . will most certainly and infallibly follow.” (Jonathan Edwards)

From Calvin's Calvinism.
(e book)

Quote:
"God governs all things by His secret counsel and decree. You ascribe a prescience to God after your own fashion, representing Him as sitting in heaven as an idle, inactive, unconcerned spectator of all things in the life of men. Whereas, God Himself, ever vindicating to Himself the right and the act of holding the helm of all things which are done in the whole world, never permits a separation of His prescience from His, power! Nor is this manner of reasoning mine only, but most certainly Augustine's also. "If (says that holy father) God foresaw that which He did not will to be done, God holds not the supreme rule over all things. God, therefore, ordained that which should come to pass, because nothing could have been done had He not willed it to be done."

Sovereignty is not perceived by the uninitiated.

Good point Frank! I remember someone from very early on in my Christian walk saying that there is a world of difference between "knowing God" and "knowing about God".
Sure Christianity, in its fundamentals, is all about reconciling guilty sinners to Almighty God.
"Dear God, I know that I'm a sinner....." is a great start to prayer for salvation. But many will not confess that.
Thanks brother for your very wise comment. Yes, almost everyone knows about God, but so few know Him.

You either receive faith as a gift from God - Or you don't have faith.

Today we hear and see the media refer to 'multi-faith which does not really exist. But it shows us how the 'blind and ignorant' (Eph 4:18) secular world has no idea at all what faith truly is.

People who say they were once believers but have quote, 'lost their faith' never had true saving faith in the first place. In other words God never elected them.

All theses people had was a religious human conviction. And many in the churches are nominal Christians like this. For example the Liberalists in the Anglican - Episcopalians, the popish followers, JW's et al.

God provides true faith to His Elect for His purpose and divine plan.

Divine hand is a touch which creates the Christian. God's decision is final and permanent Christ then takes over and brings the Christian into a journey in salvation. The Holy Spirit works faith in hearts and minds to receive the Truth in God's Word and reveal doctrine to Christ-Followers. Perseverance worked by the Lord completes conversion and brings the sinner through persecution and struggle.

To God alone be the glory. Amen.

Marty Sampson-Hillsong:

"Time for some real talk... I'm genuinely losing my faith.. and it doesn't bother me... like, what bothers me now is nothing... I am so happy now, so at peace with the world.. it's crazy / this is a soapbox moment..."

"How many miracles happen. Not many. No one talks about it. Why is the Bible full of contradictions? No one talks about it. How can God be love yet send 4 billion people to a place, all coz they don't believe? No one talks about it."

He continued: "I want genuine truth. Not the 'I just believe it' kind of truth. Science keeps piercing the truth of every religion," he writes.

"Lots of things help people change their lives, not just one version of God..."

Hmmm. Tragic. The part that really caught my eye was: "I'm genuinely losing my faith.. and it doesn't bother me... like, what bothers me now is nothing... I am so happy now, so at peace with the world.. it's crazy."

Why? Marty Sampson has set himself free from the constraints of sin. Marty has renounced God, and no longer has any responsibility to Him. Marty has been set free from any fear of judgement, because Marty has made a decision...God is a fraud, and if there's no God, Marty is no longer in bondage.

Tragic.

Mankind can fool themselves and they can fool others, but no one can fool our Lord and Savior. Notice above where Jesus ignored their testimonies and simply told them He “never” knew them. Not that He knew them and then later rejected them.

"It was amazing being one of you, but I'm not any more..."

The real truth is, he never was...

God's real church never gets smaller, the Head (God) never changes, and no one ever leaves. To say anything else is to say that God is not in control of all, which of course would make Him not be God...
