Tullian Tchividjian insists sex with former congregants was not abuse
As he gets ready for the fall launch of his unaffiliated The Sanctuary church in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Billy Graham’s grandson, Tullian Tchividjian, who was stripped of his preaching credentials in 2015 due to extramarital relationships with former congregants, says they were all “consensual” and not an abuse of power.

Speaking through a spokesperson, Tchividjian, 47, told the Palm Beach Post in a report Saturday that said his “infidelity in 2015 was completely wrong, morally and ethically” but rejected claims that he used his role as a pastor to inveigle the women into sexual relationships.

“I don’t care what role a person has, a consensual relationship between two adults is not abuse. And some of these people will try to make the case that, ‘Well, because you’re in a position of authority, it is abuse,’” Tchividjian said. “And I’ll go, ‘OK I can see how that has been and can be used by ...

Actually, Jim, it depends completely on the church government. In presbyterian churches with a strong presbytery system, such as coral Ridge, the presbytery provides oversight.

The Sermon on the Mount, Jim? I've heard it preached in conservative churches. Is that your warrant for your Progressive appeals?

Neil, whoever pays the salary calls the shots! I'm surprised that you couldn't think of some examples that you would know apparently you have visited quite a few churches or been members of them?

Luke 6:29-34
To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him who takes away your cloak, don’t withhold your coat also. Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again. “As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them. “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back as much. ---WEB

I know there are churches, conservative ones, where small percentage the wealthy members pay large percentage of the bills. How often have you heard the above from Luke preached? you may have heard verses from Romans repeated many times, but you'll be lucky to hear this mention once!

Tchividjian's claim is hard to support. Anyone in a position of power, particularly within a very large church just as Coral Ridge, has a powerful position. That he, this powerful guy, would be attracted to some woman not his wife is a major bit of flattery toward that woman to whom he is attracted. So there is automatically an abuse of power factor involved. And an abuse of trust. And an abuse of wife and children. And an abuse of the Lord Jesus' bride.

All Tchividjian is trying to do is play the privacy card. What consenting adults do together in private is no one's business. Nonsense. The man had a wife, a church, and people following him as he supposedly followed Christ. Same argument the homosexuals levy. Sins in the dark become sins revealed by the Light.

American Tract Dictionary 1859 wrote:

Is a criminal connection between persons who are engaged, one or both, to keep themselves wholly to [from] others; and thus it exceeds the guilt of fornication, which is the same intercourse between unmarried persons. As the highest sin of its kind, and ... including all other sins of the flesh, it is forbidden in the seventh commandment. ... illicit intercourse between a married man and a woman who was married, nor betrothed, constituted not adultery, but fornication.
Fornication may be, in some sense, covered by a subsequent marriage of the parties; but adultery cannot be so healed.

Neil, I have to somewhat agree with you. Unfortunately these types are made untouchable by rich people who want them as pastors, and have the money to bribe a church congregation.

In other words, (Should Fallen Pastors Be Restored?)

"He later confessed to another affair that resulted in his firing from Willow Creek Church in Winter Springs, Florida, where he was hired after he left Coral Ridge."
