Hillsong worship leader announces he's 'losing' his faith
Hillsong worship leader has reportedly walked away from the Christian faith after posting a - since removed - Instagram update in which he said he was "not in anymore".
"Time for some real talk... I'm genuinely losing my faith.. and it doesn't bother me... like, what bothers me now is nothing... I am so happy now, so at peace with the world.. it's crazy / this is a soapbox moment so here I go xx how many preachers fall? Many. No one talks about it.
"How many miracles happen. Not many. No one talks about it. Why is the Bible full of contradictions? No one talks about it. How can God be love yet send 4 billion people to a place, all coz they don't believe? No one talks about it.
"Christians can be the most judgemental people on the planet – they can also be some of the most beautiful and loving people... but it's not for me. I am not in any more." ...
1) There are Pastors and Deacons in the Bible. If you hold an unbiblical position (i.e., "Worship Leader"), your allegiance to the Bible is already faulty. 2) Today's "Praise Music" is based on feelings. If your faith is based on feelings, you will fall.
I am very concerned to hear of someone in a position of Christian influence such as the Hillsong lyricist claiming that he has or is losing his faith in our Savior. I think we should pray for him that he will seriously consider what that means and repent of his backsliding condition. To lose ones salvation is of course an impossibility and perhaps that teaching has been neglected in his walk of faith. I pray that the Lord will open his heart and he will see the error of his ways and turn yet again to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who is our only hope of eternal life.

With the All Caps lock of TrueHolyBibleChristian, through the tweaking of a couple of words in their repetitive posts on here; This so comes to my mind!!
Pro 10:19 When words are many, transgression isn’t lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
James 1:19-20,22 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God. But be doers of the word, & n’t hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
The faith of his own making would simply be filthy rags so good riddens to them. Perhaps he will be called to the Faith which is the fruit of the indwelling Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22) which is the life of Christ and part and parcel of the gift of grace. Only God knows. Then he will know that faith is not given; rather it buds and blossoms into life (the just shall live by faith) in the heart of those who hear (ears to hear) or read (with eyes to see and a heart to perceive) the word of God.
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Didn't you already post that? Didn't you already post that? Didn't you already post that?
Rom8:14~16, Hebrew 11:39,2Corinthans13:5 I want to say,if one is saved, the LORD will let them know, they also know that. True Christians surrender (true faith ) to their LORD, the LORD knows them(Corinthan8:3)and shows them HIS approvals (John14:15~23).They don't need to ask others if they're saved or not.Only the Owner of Paradise can give permission to people.HE is the One we need to seek ,rely and follow. Not any human beings, neither Peter, Paul(1Corinthan1:12~13),nor Calvin or anyone else. When people truely live in the wonderful love of the LORD,they won't give up such great enjoyment to go back to love the worldly and fleshly things(Psalm 119).It is unworthy to exchange.Although they fail sometimes, they will go back to their Savior and Lord for sure, as king Davis, Simpson etc. These people don't want other choices, for the LORD is the most precious over everything to them(Luke14:25~27).They don't have other choices neither(Hebrew:4~8). And the LORD keep them to HIM too(1Peter1:5,Rom14:4)(1John4:19,2Corinthan5:14~15).HE won't forsake them for HE bought them with HIS precious blood(John10:27~30) Keep seeking, asking, knocking and believing, you will get bless from HIM for sure (Hebrew 11:6,Luke11：9). This is my experience. GOD bless you! HIS will be done!
Psalms 37:28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. Hell would be a mighty strange place for God to preserve His saints, now wouldn’t it? If you aren’t always saved, then you were never saved.
Amen Christopher, that is exactly the problem with a phrase like that.
A much better phrase would be "once made a new creature in Christ, always a new creature in Christ". 2 Corinthians 5:17.
There will always be mysteries surrounding this, and some folks will end up on the borderline. But these two in the news at the moment, I think it is clear that neither of them will be coming back; they are like Lot's wife, turned to a pillar of salt.
I don't care for, "once saved, always saved", either, and think the way you've expressed it is much better. I think that all to often, it's used as the go-to phrase for anyone who has fallen away, and living in sin, etc. They remain a brother or sister, no matter what, and forevermore, no matter their fruits, or lack thereof, and will simply not reap any eternal reward, etc., but remain saved. I think it's used as a phrase for false comfort.
While the phrase has truth to it, I think it's mostly used in the wrong way, and gives false comfort.
Good morning Christopher and thanks for your post. I think you have got to the heart of the matter. There is far more to this than meets the eye.
When it comes to the expression "once saved, always saved", I don't know where it came from, but I personally don't like it. I don't even like the TULIP version which is the "perseverance of the saints". Mine own preference is the expression the "preservation of the saints", where the great Redeemer preserves all those he has adopted into his family and redeemed by the blood of his Son. Jude 1:1 for the word "preserved".
It is true therefore that once a person is saved by Jesus Christ, they cannot be un-saved.
It is also true that once a person is saved by God's grace, that grace will cause them to persevere until the very end. And their perseverance itself is proof of God's grace in their life.
But if you go back to the very root, you find preservation is there, and at back of preservation is predestination - the ultimate purposes and will of God from eternity. It is here, and only here, that we find the eternal security we need to have as human beings.
