Persecution of Early Rain Church Continues Unchecked
Pastor Wang Yi of Early Rain Church in China is still imprisoned. Originally being held and investigated for ‚Äúincitement to subvert state power,‚ÄĚ the 46-year-old pastor is now being charged with running ‚Äúillegal business activities.‚ÄĚ Meanwhile, members of the church who have been released from prison report brutal beatings and continued surveillance.
‚ÄúThey want to charge Pastor Wang Yi with inciting subversion, but even they know that this isn‚Äôt a very persuasive accusation,‚ÄĚ the person said. ‚ÄúSo they are hoping for a breakthrough using economic [crimes],‚ÄĚ an anonymous Chinese Christian told Radio Free Asia (RFA). The person likely wished to remain anonymous due to the security concerns associated with being involved with Early Rain Church....
It‚Äôs a little tough for our government to tell China, North Korea, Syria, Iran and other nations that we will not tolerate religious persecution when we tolerate it in California, Oregon, Michigan, Illinois, etc. etc.
