Malnutrition, disease rising in North Korea
Rates of malnutrition and disease are increasing in North Korea as it faces a harvest that is half of what was expected, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said on Thursday.

International aid agencies as well as North Korea state media have been warning that erratic weather with drought and floods, and a lack of access to resources could lead to a food crisis in a country under strict international sanctions over leader Kim Jong Un’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

“We are already seeing the impacts of this drought on vulnerable people,” Mohamed Babiker, head of the IFRC’s office in North Korea, said in a statement. ...

We must indeed pray for our brothers and sisters in North Korea.

There are those in Nazi-style concentration forced labour or re-education camps, with meagre rations, disease, sadistic guards, terrible conditions, daily torture, medical experiments, crying out to God, and maybe surreptitiously witnessing to other prisoners, many of whom are violent criminals, and their lives are in danger from guards, the other prisoners, and disease. Most of them are serving life or indeterminate sentences.

Our other brothers and sisters are “at liberty”, but what liberty. Working long hours, very low pay in state enterprises, or illegal precarious private work, or others disabled, sick, unable to work, with starvation rations in little towns and villages, with street corner spies everywhere, and faithfully meeting in basements, or out in forests, or secret places, fearfully reading hand written pages of bible verses or hymns, that they can’t even really sing too loudly, and maybe even separate from their children, because the little ones might accidentally say too much to the teachers at the state school, and bring down a violent police raid on them and their whole family.

Great comment brother and thanks for putting it in perspective. The leader of NK also supposedly has a net worth of around 5 billion dollars. He doesn't care about the living standards of any of his citizens.
Whenever aid is sent to these types of countries, all it does is make the crooked leaders wealthier and the population stays the same.
And the cultures of the world certainly do hold the rich and famous to different standards. Unfortunately many Christians do as well.
Have a good day brother and fellow pilgrim.
Thank you brother Frank,

Yes it must be awful to be born in NK under a regime and a leader that is worshipped as a sort of god, huge pictures of him everywhere to remind the population of him, that he is to be adored and exalted. And what would happen if a citizen was born a second time, by the Holy Ghost, and was standing up for and worshipping Jehovah, the Great and True God, the Great and True Spirit, through his Son the Lord Jesus Christ? It is difficult to keep quiet about such a marvellous thing, and such a wonderful Saviour, who can make children for God from the pebbles at the side of the road.

This sort of thing is what disgusts me: a small fortune is spent on producing weaponry which can demolish entire countries, and the people are now starving to death because of failed crops. It shows a high level of coldness and hardness in the NK leadership, who always seem well fed and content.
The Lord is no respecter of persons thankfully, and a tramp is no different from a well-fed rich person in his sight. Jesus told a story about two such.
