Antiabortion Movement Begins to Crack, After Decades of Unity?
Close to five decades after the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling enshrined a woman’s constitutional right to terminate a pregnancy, the unity of the antiabortion movement is cracking.

For years, those opposed to abortion have largely hewed to a legal strategy to pass laws adding incremental limitations to the historic 1973 ruling.

Now, an ascendant, activist wing is pressing for legislation that doesn’t just limit the procedure, but outlaws it. Emboldened by President Trump’s Supreme Court picks, the activists have grown impatient with what they see as small developments, and instead are actively seeking a legal fight with the goal of overturning Roe.

This year, seven states—Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Alabama, Louisiana and Ohio—have made head-on challenges to Roe by passing laws that move the cutoff point for a legal abortion deep into the first trimester, some making no ...

Maybe it is just a reality check. The chance of getting a law passed that acknowledges abortion is murder and the mother and the doctor should stand trial has zero percentage of passing. Whereas putting restrictions on that limit the number of babies killed has proven to have success.
Locks on doors certainly doesn't deter all burglaries but we don't say that the lock manufactures are hypocrites because they can't stop all break ins.
Thanks Luke 17:10 for your comment and thoughts. Of course I agree with you that is why I said the following:

"Now, in spite of what I said above, I praise the Lord when He does anything to reduce the numbers of abortions."

Chris GP, Yes, I would look at it the same as I would any other murder, so it wouldn't be automatic. Yes, we don't have a theocracy; therefore no religious courts. But, I would still change our laws to coincide with my points.

In the case of rape or incest, I simply think that the child in the womb is innocent of any wrong doing, so why should they suffer for the wrong doing of others. Although not an easy road, they could give birth and then put them up for adoption.

You may be taking the weaker vessel concept too far. :-)

'QC' has said it right at the start; it also shows you the Wall Street Journal is not the Conservative Alternative to the NY Times that some may think it is. We know they favor unlimited immigration for cheap labor for their businesses.
We know abortion is wrong, especially from all the scientific evidence on when life begins, but here is another example of, 'don't bother me with the facts, my mind is already made up'
It seems like everywhere you turn, there is talk of Women's Rights. It's a wonder no one has talked of reparations for all the suffering women have had in history.
(By the way, who pays reparations for all the people killed during the Civil War?)
But, looking at the World's News through our Bible Eyeglasses, we see this abortion issue/women's rights issue as totally wrong. Planned Parenthood should have a red circle with a diagonal line through it, to show how wrong-headed they are.
God's Plan for Parenthood is easily seen in the Bible, as in I Timothy 5, where widows are mentioned. Paul gives clear guidelines as to how they are to be treated: v. 16: by families first, if they are able, and v. 14: by the church if they meet certain requirements (involving a lot of volunteer labor). Other Bible verses tell us a man's job is to take care of his family first.

Yes, ideally abortionists, doctors, nurses and administrators ideally should face the death penalty, if we indeed lived in a Christian theocracy . A complete ban on abortion for any reason is indeed what should be pressed for.

As to subjecting mothers who have abortions automatically to the death penalty or prison, I do have some mixed feelings on that.

Obviously women who boast about it, or do it to have a career, or because they don’t want a disabled child, or want a child of the other sex, should be prosecuted in an ideal society.

However, there are some scenarios where a women is forced, or raped, and then placed under tremendous pressure. A case could be where also a lady from certain religious communities where rape is actually treated as a disgrace by the community who would be killed by her family or community in an “honour” kiling, if she fell pregnant as a result, as they actually accuse the woman of adultery, while the male rapist mysteriously goes off totally free, because 2 male witnesses were not available to testify on her behalf.

Other women may have mental incapacity, or may have learning difficulties, or may be forced by a violent boyfriend, scheming parents or a pimp to have an abortion, or may now be driven to the clinic, as an underage girl by t

The anti-abortion has always been “generally” a farce. They have never promoted the death penalty for abortion providers and they have never promoted the death penalty for the women who have murdered their unborn children. They frequently call it murder, but they never call it murder worthy of prosecution for murder. Is that not hypocritical or is it just me? All they have done is try and regulate it or one could say reduce the numbers. How can someone regulate murder?

This article is misleading in an attempt to encourage Progessives and Feminists. The goal of the limitation efforts should have always been a complete ban on the murderous proceedure. Usually, change in the political arena has been incremental. But it is not change for change sake. There is always a goal in mind. That goal finally appears achievable.
