68 Percent of White Evangelicals Believe the U.S. Has No Responsibility to Accept Refugees
A new study conducted by the Pew Research Center indicates that an increasingly large proportion of evangelicals believe that the United States government has zero responsibility to care for refugees.

The data is extremely damning – some 68% of white evangelicals assert that “the U.S. does not have a responsibility to accept refugees,” according to Pew. What’s even more staggering is that, among religiously unaffiliated adults, the percentages are almost the exact reverse.

So, of those with no faith whatsoever, roughly 65% believe that the U.S. has a responsibility to care for refugees, while 31% say it does not.

Peter Wehner, an author and senior fellow at conservative think tank, the Ethics and Public Policy Center, called the concerning figures “an indictment of white evangelicals.” ...

I too support legal immigration. People who want to legally come and settle, join in with our economy, get an opportunity to hear the Gospel...that's all good.

Most of the backlash, I believe, comes from the reverbertions from the past Obama Administration and the acceptance of Muslim refugees. And there is a general understanding that Progressives want those here illegally to be granted citizenship and be permitted to vote. In their minds, they are gaining a proletariet to stand behind them and demand Socialism.

There are concerns that an increased Islamic presence will mean an increased call for Sharia law as well as harrassement of Christians and others who are not Muslim, which is opposed to the Lord and His precepts contained in His word. Marxism in whatever form it presents itself is opposed to the Lord and His precepts contained in His word.

This is not about feeding the hungry, etc. This is not about racism and anti-racism. This is about remaking the United States of America in their own political image - Marxist. That's not an America I want to live in.

I’m for as much immigration as the economy can take, too, Jim—as long as it’s legal immigration consistent with national security considerations. I’m for immediate and harsh penalties, up to and including death, for foreign invaders who broach our sovereign borders. When we control our own borders, we can be champions of freedom. When others decide to come and go as they please, we become chumps and weaklings in the eyes of the world.

Wrong premise again, Jim. Will is not a conservative columnist. He's a well-dressed RINO swamp defender.

One way that would help in doing that is deporting Latin American drug pushers who crawled in illegally.

Not murdering babies is a humane and Biblical way to get more prospective workers. But regardless, that is beside the point: the issue here is not whether we need immigrants, but who should care for refugees.

Read some more history, Jim - look up Operation PBSUCCESS, a CIA regime-change which led to thousands of Guatemalans being murdered and survivors trying to escape to America. Contrary to what John Foster Dulles and other Foolish White Men of the time thought, America's greatest Communist threat was at our universities, not abroad. Our current crop of Democrat candidates is evidence of that. Now there is where you're right: we need to clean house and send those fools packing!

Neil, I wouldn't argue at all that America is responsible for a lot of Central American problems❗👎

We seem to have a problem of controlling drug addiction, which has provided a very lucrative market for Latin American drug makers.

The US needs to do a better job of cleaning up its own house.

As Christians we are the ones who have taken in the sick, the unwanted, the orphans, and the widows. Historically it has always been the Christian who have given the most in genuine love and help to those in need...

But we have to be careful and wise in how we apply this. No one in their right mind would care for a injured tiger in there house. Just so we should not be taking refugees from worn torn countries without some type of safety protocol...

Lets give these image bearers of God food, clothing, and shelter so they can come in and abuse us, steal, and be a general weight on society. That is not wisdom in any way...

We have the chance to avoid what Europe is going through with the Muslims if we do the refugee thing right, or really, not do it at all..

Leviticus 19
Besides Kenneth's remarks, on numerous other news-item threads, you have complained about "Dominionist" attempts to apply Torah Law to society. So your citing Leviticus on this issue is hypocritical. The commentator said "Israelites," who by your Dispy principles cannot be identified with Christians.

It could be fairly argued that many refugee crises have been created by our gov't. Guatemala is one country destabilized by American meddling, under Eisenhower. So is Libya, via Hillary Clinton. Now it's Italy's problem.

In recent times we have observed so called "refugees" flooding the western nations from Syria. Why?

First: Because a petty tyrant who has been allowed by the UN to carry out a war and ethnic cleansing of those who did not agree with his alternative muslim ideology.

Second: Because the Russians, (and the Chinese) would not allow the UN to sort this petty tyrant out and stop an unnecessary conflict.

The refugee problem is 99 per cent economical. What these "refugees" should be doing is trying to build a better society in their own country.
That responsibility is also part of what the people of many nations in Africa and other such third world nations should be taking on their own shoulders and not dumping these problems on other countries.

Venezuela is a case in point at this time.
Another (communist) petty tyrant has ruined the country even though they are rich with oil reserves.
Millions have left the country to become quote "refugees".
This should not become the burden of other people. What should happen is "remove" the petty tyrants.

The more that "refugee" status is established and believed the more that organised and democratic countries will be lumbered with economic migrants.

Very interesting and divisive subject. All of us have a desire to help others who cannot help themselves, but I feel that really isn’t the issue with the migrants we are referring to. The democrats are simply looking for folks who will support them politically and the republicans are simply trying to satisfy their base who consider these folks to be those who just want handouts and are mostly a burden.

But, IMO, neither party really has a legitimate desire to help anyone. IOW, it is all a façade. Now, I am of course not referring to every individual in either parties, but to general truth.

I personally believe that we have laws for a reason. If someone is in this country illegally, they should be arrested and deported. If I was poor and stole to feed my family, I would still be arrested and charged with stealing. I don’t see a difference.

We should either have open borders or apply the law to the ones we have. I choose apply the law.

Jim, the Leviticus call to accept the sojourners is different. #1..that was a command for Ancient Israel. Not us. 2. It is informative as a guide, but keep in mind that the ‘sojourner’ was meant to be someone who wanted to join Israel and worship YHWH. It was called ‘assimilation’. If the sojourner didn’t assimilate and live by the Law, they were to be thrown out.

I live in California and the homeless population are in more need than refugees. I don’t know for sure but I can guess most of the homelessness are ACTUAL CITIZENS that could do with the provision being spent on “ illegal immigrants “.

Thank you Phillip of Italy for your real-life eyewitness account. I do not doubt in any way what you say, esp. since the same behavior is seen at the Guantanamo base where Muslim terrorists are being held.
And your point about the refugee problem being a New World Order agenda item sounds a bit extreme, but we can find the words of the billionaire Yassir Arafat, saying that 'wombs will conquer Europe this time instead of swords' meaning that immigration of Muslims into Europe will lead to a majority Muslim Europe. We have seen this in the US in Deerborn, Michigan and Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the 2 Muslim representatives come from.
I have heard that the refugees flooding into the US from Mexico are financed by Democrats in Chicago. They do not walk across Mexico but have luxury buses that take them, have their food and other needs paid for, and so on. How can they afford this if they are poor in the first place and want to leave Central America?
The children are being rented out by parents to adults who do not have children, so that they will look like a family and gain greater access.
This weekend is supposed to begin the Great Deportation Exercise, where the US govt agents will try to deport a few thousand who have hidden themselves in the US. Let's see what happens

First of all, Leviticus would fall under theocracy within the Israelites construct. In the New Covenant the Kingdom of God is to spread, not stay ( Matthew 28; Acts 1 etc...). Within the construct of the United States of America, their kingdom rules are their autonomous declarations... they can permit or not according to this! Now to your use of Leviticus 19. Was Israel to change the worship standards within the God-centered community? No , they were to uphold them and guard them! If holding too Leviticus 19 “ strangers to settle among us” ( JFB quote) did that include the clear indication to follow the precepts of the land, culture, etc? Israel’s multiple sin examples are allowing the foreigners to bring in foreign worship of their foreign deities and “ intermingling “ them to form an unholy alliance. As an America second, Christian first... I think a proper vetting system works! You’re vetted every time you board an aircraft. You’re vetted when you go through the passports process. The foreign soil you enter has the right to vet you and not accept your entrance ( which I’ve witnessed) and to forcibly gain access on my own, will not be met with coffee, biscuits and free medical attention!!! Blessings

If one takes seriously what God says about the traditional family, marriage, and providing for one's house. If one takes seriously and adhere's to the "protestant work ethic." This does not make them unkind or uncharitable. For the Bible has many things to say about this as well. But I would like to share a little story. I spent six years working for a catering company that provided three meals a day for the refugees residing in the province in which I live. A good number of these refugee centers are for minors who were sent here by their parents. Yes, sent here by their parents. The oppurtunity to spread the Gospel was wonderful. But to see them throw their food on the floor because they didn't like it. To see them with expensive nike shoes. To see them with better cell phones and play stations than my own children had...hmm. One final thing. Let's always remember that the "refugee crisis" is a part of the NWO Agenda.

Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown Bible Commentary wrote:
Leviticus 19
33, 34. if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him—The Israelites were to hold out encouragement to strangers to settle among them, that they might be brought to the knowledge and worship of the true God; and with this in view, they were enjoined to treat them not as aliens, but as friends, on the ground that they themselves, who were strangers in Egypt, were at first kindly and hospitably received in that country.
White Evangelicals of America have turned into the same types of people as the ancient Egyptians?
