Amen, Neil. A part of problem is that instead of being seen as special creations, We're all just some sort of evolutionary mistake. Why, even our gender is questionable today. Another is the rampit brokenness caused by the sexual revolution and easy divorce culture. A third is turning to something that won't help, like drugs or pleasure, instead of the Lord. A fourth is the belief that we are the center of our own universe...and we all know that on our own, we're not worth it.
"Sin has also affected us by its influence on the world. All we need to do is look around us to see that we grow old, get sick, and die. In other words, the world is decaying, and we first notice it in our own bodies. We also see the effect of sin on societies that war against each other. There is mayhem, killing, theft, adulteries, murders, lying, etc. Our jails are filled with those who are ruled by sin -- which is rebellion against God's truth." (carm.org)
Joy in God. Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Death by sin. 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"

1 Corinthians 10:31. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Romans 11:36. For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. Psalm 73:24-26. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? ....." (Shorter Catechism)
A nation that does not want God wants despair; it wants suicides. A nation that does not want God wants school shootings. A nation that does not want God wants sodomy, pornography and human trafficking. A nation that does not want God wants murder of innocents, lawlessness, and excessive taxation. A nation that does not want God wants to perish from among nations; it wants destruction and eternal damnation. A nation that does not want God is insane, incapable of making rational decisions.
