Big decision for great grandma, 85, evicted over her faith
A great-grandmother evicted from her apartment in California because of her “religious activities” has dropped a discrimination complaint against the Golden State after reaching a settlement with the owner of the complex.

WND reported earlier this month the complaint was filed with California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing over the eviction of 85-year-old Diana Martin.

She was told she was evicted because of her religious expression and age, said the Pacific Justice Institute, which defended her.

“What happened to our client, Diana Martin, was wrong on many levels,” said PJI lawyer Matthew McReynolds on Monday. “No one should be evicted based on their religious expression, but especially not an elderly great-grandmother.” ...

Boy, talk about a heartless human being, void of any sort of empathy. Well, he got his in the end, and I'm so glad that God saw fit to take care of this elderly woman, and with serious health issues, to boot. We've seen indications of the tide on the attack on Christianity turning a bit, with legal victories, here and there, so I'll take them.
This past Sunday at my Baptist Church the sermon given by Pastor Steve was titled "Peace Is A Person"/"Jehovah Shalom" from Judges 6:1-24. The sermon was about an angel appearing in human form to Gideon. And about Jesus being our peace. This past Saturday at my Baptist Church I attended the monthly Men's Breakfast and Bible Study. The Bible Study was from 1 Timothy 3:1-16. It was very educational. I am growing in my faith at my Baptist Church.

It is shocking that an 85 year old grandmother with some health issues, should have been thrown out of her housing, simply for having Bible Studies and being a Christian.

It seems there was a commercial agenda by the landlord, as well as a religious one, as he wanted to change the senior citizen complex, into housing for “young professional” types, as no doubt this was more profitable for him.

Had he tried this eviction on a devout Muslim, or a militant atheist activist, or someone from the LGBT / Transgender community, I suspect he probably would have been facing criminal charges, as well as being sued for millions of dollars! The activists would not have rested until he was put out of business!!

I do notice two very bad trends, which we also have here in Britain. The first is the increasing persecution of Christians and to a certain extent as well, anti-Semitic attacks against Jewish people.

Secondly, there is an increasing discrimination against the elderly and severely disabled people, (despite equal opportunity laws supposed to ban this), whether it be pressure for euthanasia, contemptuous treastment of the elderly in the health service, rudeness and crimes against older people, and the BBC withdrawing free tv licences for over 75’s from next year.

I hope the settlement was a good one.

I read the Pacific Justice Institute's press release on this development. It seems that, even in California, things can work out well for Christians who challenge these kinds of demands. Apparently the owner had targeted Mrs. Martin for harassment due to her age and her religious expression. He wanted to change the apartment complex from retirement age as it was when Mrs. Martin arrived to a younger set.
