The Divorce Rate Is at a 40-Year Low, Unless You’re 55 or Older
Divorces hit a historical high point in 1979, when 22.6 marriages out of every 1,000 broke up, according to researchers at the National Center for Family and Marriage Research at Bowling Green University.

By 2017, the rate had dropped to 16.1 divorces for every 1,000 marriages. That’s a decrease of 28.8% from the high point, and the lowest the divorce rate has been in 40 years.

One cause, researchers believe, is that people are delaying marriage.

It is sad to see that the over-55 set is still having lots of divorces. It makes you wonder how long did those marriages last? I think they were for longer periods, because the over-55 set is not known for getting married on the spur of a moment, like under 25-set is (mostly due to the fact that the scientists have told us the part of the brain involved in decision making, the hippocampus, I think, does not mature until 25).
And what that makes you think is there is little societal support for older marriages.
If we apply wisdom we find in the Bible, we see this as a logical outcome of a society that does not guide itself by the Bible. Older women are getting divorced because they are not following the Bible's clear guidelines for their lives, expressed for example in 1 Timothy 5.
Paul tells Timothy there that younger widows (under 60) should get married.
Do we hear that coming from any church today? Does the great and wonderful Beth Moore teach that at her women's conferences? Does the Myers lady teach this? No, instead we get reports of how bad their marriages were, which attract a lot of women to their conferences and websites. Listening to them is like drinking vinegar!

The article is not about the number of divorces going down, it is about the rate at which it happens among married couples. It never included those who were not at one point united in marriage.

It appears that you guys have perhaps already read the article:

"So we’re left — not for the first time — with a cotton-candy headline (“More religiously conservative Protestants? More divorce, study finds”) and a story that lacks any real meat."

but this article is looking at older people so are hungering for younger mates. I can think of one well known man who has been married three times, and I'm surprised he hasn't traded his present wife in for a newer one?

But it isn't the only men, Paula White is 53 years old, and she has been married three times!

It is about the divorce rate so it only includes people who are married, it is not about the number of divorces per se

I can't read the full article so, this may be mentioned in it, but the first thought that comes to mind is that divorce rates are down because marriage rates are down. Divorces are unnecessary in cohabitation.
