Pope makes major change to Lord's Prayer
Lead us not into temptation of changing the words in the Bible.

Pope Francis has officially approved changes to some of the most famous verses in Holy Scripture, including the Lord’s Prayer, in a revised third edition of the Italian Missal.

The well-known “Our Father” prayer has a line stating, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:13 King James Version)

The pontiff has swapped the “lead us not into temptation” portion to “do not let us fall into temptation.” ...

“Modern translations from the original Greek expression "are a bit shaky" and do not give a precise rendering of the real meaning” said The Pope the antichrist.

The false bishop of Rome and the modern “bible” scholars love tweaking God’s word; both have the same spirit the spirit of changing the word of God.

This is a church that has pushed and propped up a cornucopia of bible translations. The Catholic Church has supported the American Bible Society efforts to “ promote biblical literacy “, alongside the world counsel of churches has made great strides in undermining scripture. I am not Kjv only, but rather a translation that is Tyndall based.
But since the current translation of official Catholic Bible is in flux, I’m not wasting my time on Uncle Fester, he’s no translator.

Matthew 6:9 After this manner ~~therefore~~ pray ye:

"Therefore" meaning considering my preceding teachings to not do as the hypocrites do.

"lead us not into temptation"

Will the Father lead the faithful disciples into temptation? No. The hypocrites? Yes:

2 Thes 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

"but deliver us from evil"

Will the Father deliver the hypocrites from evil? No. The faithful disciples? Yes.

2 Tim 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer is perfect as written. It includes what's in store for the hypocrites as well as the faithful disciples.

The chief goat can't help it that God sent him strong delusions but he will be judged and found wanting.

Correct me if I am wrong but .....

"Lead us not" -- Is more of a request.

"Do not let us" --- Is more of a demand.

Not even the pope can dictate to God.

Hi Gay, it is worth bookmarking this resource of J.C. Ryle's writings, the first four of which are listed here are the four gospels.

https://www.gracegems.org/Ryle/

Another one worth downloading on e-sword is the Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge (TSK), which is a cross-reference resource.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
(Mat 4:1)

And immediately the Spirit cast him out into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the Adversary, and he was with the beasts, and the messengers were serving him.
(Mar 1:12-13)

Now full of the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan, and was being led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted by the devil for forty days. And he ate nothing in those days, and later, after they were completed, he hungered.
(Luk 4:1-2)

And you will remember all the way which Jehovah your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. And he humbled you and allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, neither did your fathers know, that he might make you to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of Jehovah.
(Deu 8:2-3)

Seems good and natural for a child to hesitate when a Father presents them with a tough test. Remember the Son in Gethsemane?

The Pope needs to be rebuked as Peter was rebuked. It is not his prayer to cha

Jesus didn’t fall into temptation he was led into it by God the Holy Spirit.
“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4:1‬ ‭KJV. Jesus knew that we would never have the victory over the Devil’s temptations as He did. Adam and Eve fell at at the first temptation, “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬. Our Lord Jesus Christ knew the exact words for us to pray, and who it was who would do the tempting. The tree was in the middle of the garden, they didn’t fall at its branches, they were led.

In consulting Luke 11:4 the "lead us not" into temptation is there as well so all is for not on this short endeavor.

2 Peter 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds...

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Chris GP, another English version has it much more accurately than in the KJV!

Matthew 6:13
And let us not be put to the test, but keep us safe from the Evil One. --BBE

But anyway there's actually a fairly good discussion about it on Wikipedia.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_6:13

I believe in the Wikipedia article they pointed out the John Calvin, then think it made that much difference on how you interpreted it.

It is well worth reading. The Barnes commentary does quite a good job of explaining the verse, though.

Matt 6:13
"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

"The term temptation in the general signifieth a trial, and is sometimes used to express God’s trials of his people’s faith and obedience, but most ordinarily to express Satan’s trials of us, by motions to sin; which may be from our own lusts, Jam 1:13,14; or from the devil, who is therefore called the tempter; or from the world. These are the temptations which we are commanded to pray against: not that God leads any persons into such temptations, unless by the permission of his providence.

But deliver us from evil; from the evil one, as some read it, because of the article prefixed; but others think it not material whether we understand the devil, who is the evil one, or the evil of temptations, which harm us not if we be not overcome by them."
(Matthew Poole Commentary)
=====
Pope's version -
“do not let us fall into temptation.”
Contradicts Rev 22:18/19.

God 'allows' the trials and tribulations of His servants to test them.

Psalm 7:9 .... for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins."

Also -
Psalm 11:5.
Psalm 66:10.
James 1:3.
Jer 20:12.
Job 7:17/18.
