United Methodist regional bodies reject ‘Traditional Plan’, vow resistance
Regional bodies of The United Methodist Church are passing resolutions denouncing the denomination’s recently approved “Traditional Plan,” vowing to refuse to enforce the rules.

The UMC Great Plains Annual Conference, which is centered on Kansas and Nebraska, passed a resolution on Saturday by a vote of 586-396 rejecting the Traditional Plan.

“We reject the Traditional Plan approved at General Conference as inconsistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ and will resist its implementation,” read the resolution in part. ...

Amen brother, and would you know it, I just got the same thing again from today's daily reading on Gateway.

John 17:3 GNB
(3) And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

Christianity is far more than mere mental assent to certain doctrines, and conversion is far more than merely opening the eyes of the blind, or unstopping deaf ears. It is the resurrection of the dead; the life-giving power of Jesus Christ by his Spirit; being made a new creation in Christ Jesus. It is being given a new heart, a new way. It is hearing the voice of Jesus and following him. It is going on pilgrimage to the promised land. It is becoming a member of the royal family. It is a glorious thing.

John UK, Chris,

John thanks for your encouragement and especially that verse; it was perfect.

Chris, thanks for your salvation story. I can easily understand what you said. I think something like 80% of Americans say they are saved, but they have not been born again from above. I think that all of us can cite a different story and a different personal experience. Even on this forum we have some people who none of us consider to be in the faith and yet our exhortations to them are ignored.

I think when we are all with our Lord, then we will be surprised as to who is there with us and who isn’t. Only the Lord knows for sure.

Praise His holy name!

"These people know about Christ, but they don't know Christ."

So simple, and so true. I can relate perfectly to head knowledge, while my heart was so far from Him. When I was around 12-13yrs old, I went to a summer Bible camp that my foster family at the time, shipped me off to. While there, I repeated a sinners prayer at one of the nightly alter calls. I spent most of the rest of my life believing I was saved, no matter what. There was no follow-up, guidance or direction, so I just believed I was saved, I was "certain" of it, no matter what, and lived my life, horribly...womanizing, doing and selling drugs for years, lying, stealing, and you name it. I tried not to swear, never took God's name in vain, and always had empathy, and a kindness about me, all of which I foolishly thought set me apart. I had full faith in God and the truth/inerrancy of scripture, etc., but knew very little, yet all in all, was "certain" of my salvation. I was completely clueless to my still fallen state until I stumbled across this forum, and through the persistence of some, my eyes began to open up, and boy, did they open. I had a head knowledge all along, but was clueless to that fact. How many out there are me, thanks to a mass alter call, whose eyes will never be opened?

Amen brother! There is absolutely no excuse for born again believers to identify in any way with something like this. These people know about Christ, but they don't know Christ.
Amen Pilgrim! Jesus says just the same in my daily reading this morning:

John 16:1-3 KJV
(1)  These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
(2)  They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
(3)  And these things will they do unto you, because they **have not known the Father, nor me**.

I reckon the faithful Methodist need to start an IFM (Independent Fundamental Methodist) for the time being...or something like that.

The British Methodist Church is about to go through this unpleasant process in a forthcoming General Conference as a long awaited LGBT motion is about to be presented. There is, apart from an isolated number of elderly members here and there and the odd lay preacher who believes in historical Gospel Methodism, virtuality no one in the Methodist Church who is likely to make a stand against much of the doctrinaire liberal leadership and leftist activists that are all too prevalent in the modern Methodist Church.

Also like as in the US, all Methodist churches are owned by the denomination, and would be forfeit if the local church decided to make a stand.

Pastors are moved around every 5 or so years by their circuit, so evangelical minded pastors or ministers don’t have time to get too established in any local Methodist church.

""We affirm the sacred worth of LGBTQ persons, celebrate their gifts, and commit to being in ministry together.”""

This of course contravenes the laws and Word of God.

These people are no more Christian than a duck billed platypus.

They wouldn't know the Bible from the bus timetable.

The liberal establishment of the UMC are going to hound out conservatives, strip them of the property rights and sell of buildings and churches when the liberals can’t pay the bills. The unregenerate US Episcopalian under the leadership of Gene Robinson laid the ground word in what would become a national policy of throwing out conservatives, firing conservative priests, and stealing their property. In one case a Episcopal female bishop fired priests and sold off a conservative church after ithe note had been burned decades earlier by a conservative parish . 165 years ago, that behavior would have been met with cannon fire and a bloody battle. But, today, we just insult, defriend you on Facebook and sue and win in court.

Lawyers are General Armstrong Custer of society, not worth a darn on the battlefield but a victor in their own mind.

Even decades ago the Methodist leadership was always more liberal than the laity, all too often the laity went along with the leadership. They all should read their Bible more often❗

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom.
