Georgia Gov. Defies Hollywood Threats, Signs Pro-Life Heartbeat Bill
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp defied threats of a Hollywood boycott and pressure from pro-choice groups to sign a bill Tuesday banning abortion after a heartbeat is detected.

The Writers Guild of America had said Kemp’s signing the law would force talent “in our industry” to “leave the state or decide not to bring productions there.” Actress Alyssa Milano had released a letter of 50 actors threatening a boycott if Kemp signed it. Georgia has a thriving film and television industry.

But Kemp, during a ceremony with supporters, said the law is needed because “Georgia is a state that values life.” The bill, HB 481, is known as the Living Infants Fairness and Equality (LIFE) Act. ...

It is not the responsibility of the government to make sure people have a certain standard of living and all their needs met. This womb to the tomb, it takes a village thinking is supposedly practiced in socialist countries like Cuba and Venezuela but only kooks like Michael Moore would say they have it better there than here

Jim should take time out to do the research on WIC, EBT, and EIC before pointing a finger of blame

Jim there are a lot of options for children that are caught in this situation. This not the states responsibly. In my local area there are local programs (that are church run) that allow babies to be adopted by good Christian families. Don’t use emotionalism to further your corrupt liberal agenda.

Are these state legislators ready to do something for these children that are caught in these circumstances? Are they ready to pay pre and post birth expenses which wasn't the fault of these children?

Those sure were different days, Frank, and seemingly long gone in so many ways. Thanks for being a living example of hard work, service, and sacrifice. We see a lot of young people who have lost this completely. Hard work is too hard, so it must be someone else's fault.

It's related to this news story. There is a way that is good and right, but many do not wish to tred that narrow, difficult path. So they demanded an out, created a storyline to justify their demands, then used an illegitimate non-legislative means to inflict it on the nation.

And now there is chirping that outlawing murder will bring suicide through unsafe procedures while increasing the misery of the perpetrators of sin. But I am ignoring Jim.

QC,

And thanks for your kind comment brother!

My generation thought differently about the military and most other things; especially what they now refer to as the American dream. Very few of us lived at home with our parents and if you weren’t born with a silver spoon in your mouth, then you “normally” didn’t go to college, etc. In fact, I don’t remember even knowing anyone that went to college.

Anyway, as all others did back then, I graduated from H.S. and got a menial labor job. I was getting ready to turn 18 and was going to be laid off of my job. So, since I couldn’t bum off my parents, then like most of that generation, I went into the military. I didn’t do it because of patriotism, but it was a very respectable thing to do and I was raised to love my country. Towards the last part of my first tour in 1968, they came through our base and said everyone with 6 mo. to go on a specific date were being sent to VN. I had 7 month. My only choice was to go, or go to Canada and live for the rest of my life. A deserter was not common.

All this personal info is simply to say that I certainly wasn’t a special person.

Besides, I am an old man and love to ramble.

I heard the ACLU already has their lawyers going to court to sue over this law.
The boycott will happen, just like the same rejection that happened to the new Brazilan President Bolsonaro when he was supposed to go to NYC to receive an award from a Brazilian American group. He had to cancel his trip. All kinds of sponsors and museums were dropping out of the event, having received threats from the sodomite people over Bolsonaro's stance against them in Brazil.
Nothing enrages them more than someone telling them what they do is a sin, or just wrong. Too bad they don't go to Saudi Arabia and find out how Muslims treat their behavior.
It reminds me of the interview with the Iranian president; he was asked, "How does your nation treat homosexuals?" and he said, 'We don't have any of them'
which meant they apply the standard Muslim penalty for them--death.

For now, Supreme Court precedent protecting women’s reproductive rights should bar such prosecutions—and indeed, require the invalidation of HB 481. But the court’s conservative majority may be on the verge of dismantling Roe v. Wade. If that happens, Georgia and other conservative states will be free to outlaw abortion, and to imprison women who self-terminate. HB 481 is further proof that once Roe is gone, it won’t just be abortion providers who risk legal jeopardy: Women will be punished, too.

People of good faith on both sides of the abortion war know that the best way to lower abortion rates is to deal with what causes women to want to abort in the first place. Rather than ending abortion, criminalizing abortion will merely create new ways in which the state can intensify the misery of the poorest among us.

Thank you, Frank, for your service! I cannot imagine serving such an ungrateful nation at such a time. That is why we see you and those who did not shirk their duty but went and served as heroic. Very few of us who are younger and served have faced the same kind of opposition. Only in Left Coast cities like Seattle have there been isolated incidents in these more contemporary times. The rifleman doesnt make the policy or the strategy. He just carries it out. Of he doesn't like it, he has the option to not re-enlist or resign.

The shallowness of the Left is demonstarted in issues like this. They were against military involvement in SE Asia. So they attack the draftees. Today they are against anyone saying "no" to their whims and concepts of contraception, eugenics, and population control, so they attack little old ladies and elderly men witnessing and protesting at abortion clinics. Otherwise, they threaten to take their dollies and go home. You'll hunt long and hard to find a thread of rationality in that.

At some point, this issue is going to come to the point of outright conflict. What is quite remarkable to me is that the politics of the same hippies who waved "baby killer" signs at troops, sailors, and airmen returning from Vietnam is now arguing vehemently for the right to kill babies.
I can't believe someone is old enough to remember the "baby killer" rants. When I came back from VN, they had signs and were standing around the airport calling us baby killers. And, the only time I fired a rifle was on a make-shift rifle range.

Now they thank me for my service and refer to me as some type of hero???????

Here is a very good link to the abortion law that was passed in Georgia.

The court says lots of things. The true issue gets sidetracked. What needs continued hammering is that the unborn at any age is a life, a separate human life from the mother. "Viability" is irrelevant.

"The Writers Guild of America had said Kemp’s signing the law would force talent “in our industry” to “leave the state or decide not to bring productions there.” Actress Alyssa Milano had released a letter of 50 actors threatening a boycott if Kemp signed it."

Pathetic. "We will boycott the State of Georgia, if you dare to sign into law, a bill that would prevent women from murdering the babys they're carrying, for any reason, whatsoever, just because the little buggers have a beating heart....take this luxury away from us, and we will declare war."

"Oh, and don't forget to sign my petition on change.org to lobby lawmakers to make the abuse, or killing of puppys and kittens, a capital offense, and punishable by death...thanks my peeps."

Just imagine if/when the liberals gone mad, are ever running this country again. This nation will implode. Just look at what they're doing since Trump was exonerated after two long years of nothing but phoney investigations. They want the fully, unredacted report for no other reason than to see who of them are gonna be facing some serious music. I sure hope Barr digs real deep, and exposes every single one of them, and their crimes, and that includes Mueller for knowing that there was no collusion very early on.

In case you have never read the Constitution, Jim, please allow me to point out that abortion is unconstitutional. Millions of citizens have been deprived of life without due process of law. They have been condemned and executed without charges, without trial, without sentencing, and without justice.

"The US Supreme Court essentially has held" in Roe and subsequent cases "that a state cannot ban abortion before viability," Nash explained. "Viability is determined individually but on average is between about 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy."
That explains why heartbeat bills, and bills seeking bans at 15 weeks or 20 weeks, are often challenged in courts and knocked down.
Even Steven Aden, chief legal officer and general counsel for the national anti-abortion group Americans United for Life, acknowledged why these kinds of bills don't hold up.
"With all the respect I can muster to my many friends in the heartbeat movement, no heartbeat bill anywhere has ever saved a human life because, to my knowledge, they've all been struck down by federal and state judges -- and that was predictable," Aden said. "They are unconstitutional under current federal constitutional law. They were designed as a vehicle to challenge Roe in the Supreme Court, but they won't get to the Supreme Court unless you can convince four members of the court that a fifth member would go with them to uphold the heartbeat bill."...
