DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigning after clashes with Trump on immigration
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is resigning, President Trump announced in a tweet Sunday. CBS News first reported Nielsen's impending departure, which Mr. Trump announced after a 5 p.m. meeting with Nielsen at the White House.
Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will serve as acting DHS secretary, the president announced.
"Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen will be leaving her position, and I would like to thank her for her service," Mr. Trump tweeted Sunday. "...I am pleased to announce that Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for @DHSgov. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!"...
Good help is rather easy to find but Trump keeps firing them
Politico wrote: President Donald Trump’s congressional allies are alarmed by his purge at the Department of Homeland Security — urging him not to fire more top officials and warning him how hard it will be to solve twin crises at the border and the federal agencies overseeing immigration policy.
The president’s frantic four days of bloodletting at DHS and other agencies blindsided senior Republicans who are already fretting about difficult confirmation battles ahead. Some are worried about the rising influence of top White House aide Stephen Miller. And after November elections in which suburban voters rejected Trump’s hard-line immigration agenda, the president is once again making it the centerpiece of the GOP’s platform....
I don’t think that any of us really know what goes on behind closed doors in D.C., but the rumor is indeed that she wasn’t tough enough for Trump to continue. IOW, he would give her a directive and she would find excuses for not being able to carry it out.
Chaos is all around us. We have the border issue here, Britain has the BREXIT issue, Libya is in some type of war, Venezuela is an accident waiting to happen, Iran is Iran, China and Russia are our arch enemies, Syria has almost nothing left and then there is Yemen. And I’ll bet any one of us could name dozens more.
But, to me the biggest that we face is the criminalization of our Christian faith right here and right now. But, our Lord did warn us and give us guidance regarding these things.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
You can’t turn the immigration debacle that has existed for 40 years and all of sudden move to attack the problem. First all of South and Central America are moving a million illegal immigrants through ports of entry and instead of dealing with this crisis congress is clapping their hands , America’s citizens are staring at their phones and we might not recover the effects . Fidel Castro’s swamping Miami with his thugs and prisons in the 70’s is the playbook.
Sounds by some reports that she has been on shaky ground for quite a while.....
"A senior administration official told Fox News Sunday that National Security Adviser John Bolton long felt that Nielsen was not the right person for the job and opposed her policy of using United Nations organizations to try to stem the flow of illegal migrants." (Fox)
It will take a strong and forceful character to carry out the Trump immigration policy. Especially in a world where millions are trying to move into the more successful countries and escape the poverty and inadequacies of other nations, EG: South America!
Jim; It’s utterly amazing how you look at your own sin with a telescope from Mars, but everyone else it’s a microscope!
I guess God is lucky to have you, since you don’t fall short of the absolute mark of utter perfection that Christ requires!
Gal 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
You are utter hopeless if you die as a child of wrath!; PS 130:3-4 If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.
