Are Americans Becoming as Godless as Europeans?
The religiosity of the United States has impressed observers since the early 19th century, and American levels of religious involvement remain strikingly high compared to those in virtually all highly developed countries. The US is often taken to be a decisive counterexample to the idea that modernization tends to undermine religious belief and activity (what’s known as the ‘secularization thesis’).

It’s become clear, though, that American religiosity has been declining for decades. What’s more, this change has been produced by the generational patterns underlying religious decline elsewhere in the West: each successive birth cohort is less religious than the preceding one. Taken together, these two facts mean that trends in religiosity are remarkably similar across the western world. ...

1 Begone, unbelief,
My Savior is near,
And for my relief
Will surely appear;
By prayer let me wrestle,
And He will perform;
With Christ in the vessel,
I smile at the storm.
Though dark be my way,
Since He is my Guide,
’Tis mine to obey,
’Tis His to provide;
Though cisterns be broken,
And creatures all fail,
The word He hath spoken
Shall surely prevail.
His love, in time past,
Forbids me to think
He’ll leave me at last
In trouble to sink:
Each sweet Ebenezer
I have in review
Confirms His good pleasure
To help me quite through.
Why should I complain
Of want or distress,
Temptation or pain?
He told me no less;
The heirs of salvation,
I know from His Word,
Through much tribulation
Must follow their Lord.
How bitter that cup
No heart can conceive,
Which He drank quite up,
That sinners might live!
His way was much rougher
And darker than mine;
Did Christ, my Lord, suffer,
And shall I repine?
Since all that I meet
Shall work for my good,
The bitter is sweet,
The medicine, food;
Though painful at present,
’Twill cease before long,
And then, oh, how pleasant
The conqueror’s song!
(John Newton)

Jim L quotes scripture but never considers his own spiritual state. You come here daily Jim spewing out your hatred of the President of this country, you adhere to marxist liberation theology, you deem yourself 'saved' because of some phony roman road theology, your heart appears to be filled with a love of the world, a love of Democratic politics, and a deep seeded despising of the GOP and this current President. Is that the kind of fruit we find in the bible concerning God's elect? Hardly
It's bad enough you hijack yet another thread and make it about politics and you get by with that,then you have the audacity to quote God's word. The bible is your friend when you want to use it as a weapon for others, but how often do you use it to examine your own heart?

Why is 'religion' in decline in America? Because of phony gospels like you adhere to Jim, works-based accursed type of methods that promise instant Christians without the work of the Spirit, without regeneration or repentance, and without God's saving grace.

Mark 4
3 “Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow,

4 and as he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birdsa came and devoured it.

5 Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.

6 When the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

7 Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

8 Others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing. Some produced thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times as much.”

9 He said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Pew Research Center wrote:
But there are other reasons people give for leaving behind their childhood religion. One-in-five express an opposition to organized religion in general. This share includes some who do not like the hierarchical nature of religious groups, several people who think religion is too much like a business and others who mention clergy sexual abuse scandals as reasons for their stance....

Lands sakes , Trump won.
Move on , For 2020, either vote to let him finish his work or vote for anything the democrats cough up to take away your right to debate, worship or agree to be taxed till your broke to poverty, only to be the utopia of the Western Hemisphere; the late great United States.

Goodness?? Nobody could be as 'Godless' as Europe.

Now as far as God-less or God-more - Who is in charge of that state of affairs?

God is!

Today we have the disease of Liberalism/PC which reveals how evil, depraved, dissolute and corrupt the reprobate world is without God.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,"
= Thus all the sins and transgressions - eg: abortions and sodomite agenda - of today's God-less world.

The Old Testament teaches ....
Judges 2:10 there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. 11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: 12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers"

For what is considered to be a strong Christian group, it certainly deteriorated in the last presidential election
Indeed, they could have voted for H. Clinton. Who did you vote for?

1. Consider the source--London School of Economics. High brow stuff, but maybe out of their league. I'd trust what they have to say about the inverted curve and the future of recession--will stock market take another Big Dip? As to who goes to church, not so much. Maybe authors are putting this out as a 'feeler' to see if they get enough interest to 'shop' it to a book publisher. Reminds you of that verse in Ecclesiastes about 'of the writing of books, there is no end' and that was way before the Gutenberg Press.

Is the US becoming less religious? Do less people attend church? I think we saw a news item on this from California about how the Internet is helping churches increase attendance, though they didn't come to SA to survey the many churches here represented.
It brings to mind the verse about "Raise up your children in the way.." and that Isaiah 3:12 curse about children and women ruling. Someone is not doing their job!
