‘Fortnite’ may be a virtual game, but it’s having real-life, dangerous effects
“They are not sleeping. They are not going to school. They are dropping out of social activities. A lot of kids have stopped playing sports so they can do this.”

Michael Rich, a pediatrician and director of the Clinic for Interactive Media and Internet Disorders at Boston Children’s Hospital, was talking about the impact “Fortnite: Battle Royale” — a cartoonish multiplayer shooter game — is having on kids, mainly boys, some still in grade school.

“We have one kid who destroyed the family car because he thought his parents had locked his device inside,” Rich said. “He took a hammer to the windshield.” ...

Yeah, I have a problem with Call of duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc. but Pong, Missile Command, Pac-Man, etc. and the earlier versions of Mario, Star Fox, Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc. are pretty good games.

Although I would think that PETA would have a problem with Mario... he’s a plumber that smashes turtles by jumping on them and he hurts fish. 🐢🐠

The Lord Jesus taught that sin begins in the heart before it manefests itself through the hands, feet, or mouth. Teaching children to sin, even virtually, may be a problem. Gamer neglects the soft porn in the movies, causing many to sin in their minds and girls to believe that "pretty" is another word for "sensual." In the same way, then, is shooting someone on screen a problem? Just raising the question.

Video games aren’t to blame, it’s the abuse of them that is. Video games are good for fun (obviously you need to use discernment) but once it becomes an addiction....look out.

Most of the shooters were medically, and psychologically ill. Games alone don't this, but a combination of broken families, crazy medicine from the psychiatrist, violent films, and violent games, and no concept of consequences. People cried the same when Radio came out, TV came out, but we know watching a Hollywood movie by itself won't make you have an affair (from the many stable families), it takes a foundation of sin to take root.

With that said, new games are designed to be like gambling, and companies want to subscribe to your credit card, put you in debt, and making traditional games that are really casino's. That is evil, and is abusing children around the world.

I know how addicting these games can be, especially with the new 4K+ graphics, processor speeds, and enormous flat screens that all work together to immerse a person into an alternate world/universe.

Not to mention how easy the transition from screen based, to life based killing. Many of the mass killings we're done by video game addicts.

They have been shooting large amounts of people in the minds for years. So mentally, there is no difference...

I know how addicting these games can be, especially with the new 4K+ graphics, processor speeds, and enormous flat screens that all work together to immerse a person into an alternate world/universe. I was never addicted, but when I'd get on my PS4, I remember how difficult it would be to stop playing, and shut it down. I also remember how much time would go by without even realizing it. This new age of technology is bittersweet, because most kids are addicted to a screen, whether it's their smartphone, in most cases, or gaming, etc. Seriously, when people have to be hospitalized for in, or outpatient treatment, because they're addicted to social media, or gaming, then we're up against a whole new beast; a digital beast that's infecting an entire nation like a plague, and I don't see it getting any better, because the situation isn't your normal, come and go, fad, that people just grow out of.
