Pennsylvania GOP legislator prays to Jesus for forgiveness
State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz was on the ninth "Jesus" of her opening prayer in the Pennsylvania statehouse when other lawmakers started to look uncomfortable.

Speaker Mike Turzai, a fellow Republican, glanced up - but Borowicz carried on, delivering a 100-second ceremonial invocation that some of her colleagues decried as an offensive, divisive and Islamophobic display shortly before the legislature swore in its first Muslim woman.

"God forgive us - Jesus - we've lost sight of you, we've forgotten you, God, in our country, and we're asking you to forgive us," Borowicz said, followed by a quote from the Bible's second book of Chronicles that implores God's followers to "turn from their wicked ways." Then she praised President Donald Trump for his unequivocal support of Israel. ...

From a different perspective, i think the part of Isaiah which seem to have been ignored in all this is....

"they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths."

Biblically speaking, I'd think that to be the same group mentioned in 2:8 that worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.

I wasn't trying to hurt anyone. Evading a question with a false accusation is common here as well.

I don't consider it a 'silly question' to ask you if you pray for a lost sinner, if you were referencing to me with that statement. IF that is your mindset, that asking you if you pray for this lost woman is a silly question, God help you.
Pride keeps us from being what God calls us to be.

May God show you what lies in your heart Frank, may He show ALL His elect the sins we may harbor in the cracks and crevices of our hearts.

Was not remotely mentioning "YOU" not using the word feminist. But, I can see where I was confusing.

See below!

Sorry I didn't see your post until I had posted this one. But, trying to hurt me won't confuse anyone, so I will not answer your silly questions. Yes, feminist cannot be found in God's word. I rest my case; thanks!

Have you prayed for this woman Frank? BTW, 'feminist' cannot be found in God's word. Adultery can. I wonder IF you refer to most women as 'feminists' in a way as to belittle, like when you labeled the young woman wrestler a 'transvestite.

It's best to check our OWN HEARTS before we label and belittle others. Remember the sewer God drug you from if, in fact, you have been elected unto life.
The problem that permeates the SA forum is this prideful, Pharisee attitude. We love to call others out, we love to show how sinful they are. We ALL do it. BUT, do we pray for them? Do we cry out for their souls to God? Or do we just say 'pfft' and go on about our business?
Concerning Isa. 3:12, written to Israel and not America, from John Gill, "The words may be rendered, "as for my people, everyone of their governors, is a child" not in age, but in understanding:
and women rule over them, or "over him" (o); either over the people of Israel, as Alexandra before Hyrcanus, and Helena queen of the Adiabenes; or over the child their governor, as women had great influence over their husbands, the governors of Judea, in those times, as Herodias, Bernice, and Drusilla; or it may be understood of men, weak, effeminate, and given to pleasure."

Thanks for reposting Isaiah 3:12! Just make sure you don’t use the word feminist and you will be okay. An adulterer is not an adulterer, but a sinner. :-) Both are true, but adulterer would be more descriptive.

To me the concept is pretty simply. Feminism is when a woman wants to be relevant in ways not permissible in scripture. In order to do that, they compartmentalize their lives. So, it is sometimes okay to be a feminist if you are single, but not married. So, they would say if you are single, then you can violate Isaiah 3:12 and a host of others, but not if you are married. Female politicians are leaders in anyone’s book; married or single. They look for exceptions and then make those exceptions the rule or do away with the rule altogether.

Where are zones 4 to 6?

Here's the verse I was thinking of:

Isaiah 3:12
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them.
O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

And here's the Official DF Commentary:
Society is destroyed when children are given precedence in decisions as to the parent's life-like saving for college but not for your retirement, or paying off your home mortgage or new Mercedes, Jaguar or BMW.
Society is destroyed when women are given positions of authority over men. Best that they manage children's hospitals, schools, nurseries, etc.
Society is destroyed by poor leadership, so be careful who you vote into office.
Instead of spending hours watching grown men play games that children should be outside playing (but, due to the corruption of this society, are inside, playing video games and getting fat, leading to an Obesity Crisis that they will have a Hard Time getting rid of as they get older), you should pay attention to your leaders. US Congress Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi-voted to amend the Minimum Wage Law when her husband's company in Fiji, South Pacific, would be affected. She said, "Oh, those people in Fiji don't need a higher wage!"

I dare not slap a label on her, other than what is found in the bible - a sinner - in need of prayer and mercy. I dare not seek to belittle her, I pray for her. I dare not forget my own sinful self, and owe all that I have and am to Christ alone. The difference between this woman, if she is not truly born again, and myself is grace and nothing more.
May God grant her repentance.

Jim; Ben’t deceived as God isn’t liken to mankind who is only worried about the focusing of ones outterly exterior of ones appearance. God looks at & weighs in on our
Spiritual Heart. As our thought life, is reflective to our actions that are being reflected back to our inner thought life. As out of the abundance of the heart, ones mouth. Will speak & reflect, how desperately wicked & vile, one spiritual heart of stone is, apart from Christ Alone. Without being Born Again from Up Above Alone, all you have is a, active state of rebellion. Against no King but Christ Alone amen!

May Christ grant to you the saving gift Godly brokenness, that you can see why, you will split Hell Wide Open. Without the saving Gift of life changing repentance in & through Christ Alone. By the removal of your Spiritual heart of stone away amen!

PS 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord willn’t hear.

Pro 15:8 & 29 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight. The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.

Barnes Commentary wrote:
...Verse 5. And when thou prayest, etc. Hypocrites manifested the same spirit about prayer as alms-giving: it was done in public places. The word synagogues, here, clearly means not the place of worship of that name, but places where many were accustomed to assemble-- near the markets, or courts, where they could be seen of many. Our Lord evidently could not mean to condemn prayers in the synagogues. It might be said that he condemned ostentatious prayer there, while they neglected secret prayer; but this does not appear to be his design. The Jews were much in the habit of praying in public places. At certain times of the day they always offered their prayers. Wherever they were, they suspended their employment, and paid their devotions. This is also practised now everywhere by the Mohammedans, and in many places by the Roman Catholics. It seems, also, that they sought publicity, and regarded it as proof of great piety....
excerpt from, "Matthew 6:5"

Apparently some Christian evangelicals can be lumped together with this group of hypocrites

Douglas Fir, well said and thanks! The below is me rambling again. :-)

Now since there may in fact be circumstances where a woman will be called upon to preach a sermon or teach a class, let me address that thought process. Let’s say this lady loved the Lord and before getting married she attended the best bible seminary in the country. She graduated with honors and was an excellent orator. She and her pastor husband are on a missionary trip where he is scheduled to speak. He gets sick and can’t do it. Now should this godly, educated woman fill in for him? I would say no because nothing changed her gender and women are not to teach men. The issues regarding the duties of Christian woman are not based solely upon her abilities or intrinsic value but on their God given roles and the gender they were born with. When scripture discusses this issue, it doesn’t identify or hint at exceptions to their roles in life.

1 Timothy 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Correcto, Frank! Bible does not teach women take leadership positions anywhere (not just a church govt thing, so those churches that hold this position are asking their members to be hypocrites when they go to work weekdays to work under woman boss), and even cites 'women shall rule over them' as a curse.

I find it interesting that Judges records the husband of Deborah...
"Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time." (Judges 4:4)
We don't find the scriptures recording the wives of the other judges of Israel. Why? Because the wives were under the headship of their husbands. Meanwhile it's almost like the scriptures are reminding the reader that Deborah has a head she is under. Lappidoth was Deborah's spiritual and physical leader, and the Bible is sure to remind us of God's consistent, created order.
IMO you are not confused JAG. The tone of scripture is that women should not lead, but should follow. What is the primary occupation of this female politician? Has she been called by God to go against Isaiah 3:12 below

We don't know why God allowed Deborah to do what she did. Some say it might have been a judgment against the nation, but then who knows.

What I try to do is to not throw out the clear teaching of scriptures for the sake of one that might offer controversy.

John Bunyan; Prayer will make a man cease from sin; or
sin will entice a man to cease from prayer.

Spurgeon; Nothing brings such leanness into a man's soul
as lack of prayer. It is well said that neglected prayer is the birth-place of all evil.

All good is born in prayer, and all good springs from it.
But if one neglects his closet, then all evil comes of it. No man can progress in grace if he forsakes prayer.
