Christian Leaders Warn About Dangers of Yoga, Commend Practice of Meditation
A recent study showed that the number of Americans practicing yoga and mindfulness meditation grew at a steady pace over the last few years.

The study, released by the National Center for Health Statistics, found the percentage of Americans practicing yoga grew from 9.5% in 2012 to 14.3% in 2017. In addition, while only 4.1% of Americans practiced meditation in 2012, the number in 2017 stood at 14.2%.

Many Christians view yoga as nothing more than a way to get into good shape, but some Christian leaders have warned that yoga has spiritual roots Christians cannot ignore. Last fall, Pastor James Lindell of James River Church in Ozark, MO set off a firestorm by telling Christians that they are opening themselves to demonic power through yoga.

According to CBN News, he told his congregation, “Every single body position has a meaning.” Then he added, “Let me say this, yoga positions were not ...

Yoga in elementary schools? (School apologizes for "mindfulness" yoga after complaints)

I ran across the above article when looking at a republished one in the Atlantic. The Atlantic one well pointing out the religious aspects of yoga I really don't think with sufficiently hostile to the idea.

Alia Wong wrote:
...In 2016, an elementary school in Cobb County, Georgia, became the subject of heated controversy after introducing a yoga program. Parents’ objections to the yoga classes—on the grounds that they promoted a non-Christian belief system—were vociferous enough to compel the district to significantly curtail the program, removing the “namaste” greeting and the coloring-book exercises involving mandalas. A few years before that, a group of parents sued a San Diego County school district on the grounds that its yoga program promoted Eastern religions and disadvantaged children who opted out....

Sounds like a good idea about banning it ❗👍

The days of the week in English have something to do with pagan gods, too, so we should start using Portuguese, where the days of the week have names like 'segunda feira' 'terceira feira' and so on, 2nd, 3rd fair and so forth. I have the hardest time learning them.
In Spanish, they also use 'domingo' for Sunday, which some could say points to the Dominion of the Lord, but then go back to pagan gods like "Martes" (Mars God of War).

I had a conversation with a millennial about the dangers of yoga since she and her girlfriends were taking a yoga class, taught by “ an old guy”, I tried to warn her, she pish pawed me, till the old guy started talking about nude yoga at his apartment with a few of the dumber ones in the classroom. Hate being right but with worldly millennials, but at least an old broken watch is right twice a day.

"I feel it a duty to bear my solemn testimony against the spirit of the day we live in, to warn men against its infection. It is not Atheism I fear so much, at the present time, as Pantheism. It is not the system which says nothing is true, so much as the system which says everything is true. It is not the system which says there is no Saviour, so much as the system which says there are many saviours, and many ways to peace! It is the system which is so liberal, that it dares not say anything is false. It is the system which is so charitable that it allows everything to be true. It is the system which seems ready to honour others as well as our Lord Jesus Christ, to class them all together, and to think well of all. Confucius and Zoroaster, Socrates and Mahomet, the Indian Brahmins and the African devil-worshippers, Arius and Pelagius, Ignatius Loyola and Socinus — all must be treated respectfully, none are to be condemned. It is the system which bids us smile complacently on all creeds and systems of religion"

It is the system which is so scrupulous about the feelings of others, that we are never to say they are wrong. It is the system which is so liberal that it calls a man a bigot if he dares to say, “I know my views are right.” (J.C.Ryle. Knots Untied)

Are you sure it’s my comments, Christopher, and not your nightly activities with the LWW (League of Woonsocket Winos)? Speaking of which, the EMTs highly recommend that the next time you dive into a swimming pool, you make a quick check first to see if there is any water in it.

Most shrug off any warnings about yoga, saying, "Oh, c'mon now, lighten's just stretching; it's healthy exercise, so, please...just relax already".

Every yoga position/posture has meaning, and yoga, overall, is rooted in Hinduism, Eastern, and Egyptian mysticism. Most of the positions have something to do with a diety, a demi-god, or references something that concerns one of these. Born again Christians can't just shrug off yoga's mystical roots, or the base meanings of each of the positions. Also, much of Western yoga, and its studios, are all about Buddism, and universal consciousness, etc.; attracting those of like mind. Whether yoga is practiced in a secular studio, or in a church basement, born again Christians can't just shrug off it's mystical roots, positional meanings, Satanic roots, and just pretend all is good, because it's only innocent stretching...that's my take anyway.
