SPECIAL REPORT
What is The Foundations Conference?
An Introduction

The Foundations Conference is a pastors conference organized by SermonAudio with a special emphasis on the themes of prayer and preaching. The basis of this burden is centered around the words of Acts 6:4, “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”

The dual conference themes of prayer and preaching reflect the realization that only ministries grounded in the faithful exposition of the Word and upheld by prayer have the power to effect any lasting changes in their hearers. Our goal is to establish a conference that not only maintains this reminder but also provides an opportunity for church leaders to enjoy a respite from ministry and engage in meaningful fellowship with other ministers.

Why Another Conference?

It has been our desire to organize a conference that seeks to glorify God both in its emphasis as well as in its experience. We believe the emphasis of prayer and the ministry of the Word is one that all Bible-believing ministries with a heart to make an impact on their generation can rally around. And by experience, we simply seek to remove all obstacles and controversies surrounding many of today's conferences so that all that is left is all that is essential.

  • A conference that features a unique blend of broadcasters on SermonAudio.
  • A conference that seeks to maintain a modest yet effective environment for fellowship and interaction with speakers.
  • A conference that features a cappella singing for its beauty in simplicity.
  • A conference that provides lunches & refreshments for all attending.
  • A conference that provides discounts with a featured bookseller.
  • A conference that provides an opportunity for attendees to enjoy NYC sites.
  • A conference that seeks to coordinate the conference date with the Lincoln Center Handel's Messiah performance.
In summary, it is our desire to organize a conference whereby the staff of SermonAudio can generously serve the speakers, pastors, and church leaders that attend. We feel that it is important to make every effort to forge new friendships among God's people.

We are planning our third Foundations Conference once again in NYC, December 19-20, 2019. We hope you will be able to join us. We are much in prayer for God's blessing on our gathering. Speakers include Steven Lawson, Paul Washer, Geoff Thomas, Richard Caldwell Jr, Armen Thomassian, and Andrew Quigley. Learn more about it!

The Glorious Gospel
pg 22 - 29
Rev T Kirkland (a SermonAudio preacher)

We have become fixated on other things ALL that matters is the Glory of Christ and the gospel. The sermon deals with celebrity evangelicals and more importantly the earthen vessels God uses …

'The whole point of the earthen vessel is that God will get all the glory, that the Gospel itself will be glorious, that the content—Jesus Christ—would shine marvellously and gloriously. But we have changed that, and particularly so when people follow their favourite preacher even to the extent of some staying at home to listen to him online rather than going to the place of worship'

US, you appear to have COMPLETELY missed the point of my first post. Railed on the attendees? I didn't say one word about the attendees. What people do with their time and money is their business, not mine. I certainly didn't say anything negative about SermonAudio. I love SermonAudio. Where did you find any of that in my comment(s)?
My thoughts were pointed only and directly at these same men who make a very handsome living going around from conference to conference, sitting on a platform in expensive suits with their legs crossed, pandering to each other and talking to the attendees as if they are ignorant boobs who need to be set straight by their condescending Christian heroes.
Whenever I look at the news headings on SermonAudio there are usually 3 or 4 of these gatherings scheduled somewhere with the same shining, grinning (PR shot) faces at each one. Sometimes I think if I see Joel Beeke's face again I'm going to scream. This has obviously become a very lucrative business.
Here's the point: These speakers are not the apostles. They are regular men with the same Bible we all have access to. Constantly putting them on a pedestal - for a fee! - as if they own some grand spiritual secret that simply must be shared with the hoi polloi is just plain ridiculous.

Bottomline though is that it was on Kenny to read the article, so the response was warranted, because it was based on the assumption that he read it, and then posted his thoughts after.

Good morning, my brother, US. I've as much as told you that I admire your passion and zeal, when it comes to protecting God's Word, and anything else that you're passionate about. I'd liken your blunt honesty to Ladybug's, Frank's, Lurker's, and a couple of others, who have the inner strength to say what they mean, mean what they say, and not care who it might offend, or anger, because truth trumps feelings. I struggle in this area, and developed my own style as a way of solving it, but I still fall way short at times when I should speak harder, instead of softer.

Anyway, the above is a perfect example of the style I just mentioned, because it serves as a prelude to this: I would venture a guess that Kenny read the headline only, "Special Report: What is the Foundations Conference", didn't take notice of, "A ministry of SermonAudio.com" directly below it, and never read past the headline...the contents of the story itself. I'm thinking that Kenny just reacted to the headline itself; never reading anything past it.

So, bottomline is that I think he was commenting in ignorance, and simply reacted to the word, "conference", without even knowing anything about this specific one. I'm not making any excuses, but just explaining what I think went on...hope you didn't mind.🙄

Kenny to help you see why I made my comment let us, if you will, consider your posts.

You railed on attendees who had parishioners. This announcement is for people at this site. People with parishioners are broadcasters on this site You also stated that the conference sponsor, which is SA, is only in it for the money You stated this in two different posts

We now, in your opinion, have a site filled with preachers who don’t want reach the lost or restore the saint. They only want men’s applause. They are on a site run by those who think gain is godliness and just want to exploit the attendees for greedy purposes

I have to assume that you, like most people who come to a site like this have a keen interest in their own spiritual growth. The Bible says a corrupt tree brings forth corrupt fruit. Pretty sure that isn’t what you want in your life. Logic would say you would want to find a better place to enhance your spiritual growth, thus I made my suggestion.

Please tell where I told you what to do, I offered a suggestion. I gather you made your comment without reading anything that was in the article. If you haven’t been to a Foundations conference, then yes you are speculating. None of the speakers mentioned would consider themselves a celebrity. You will note that SA said their goal was one of a servant. You plainly stated that the attendees were going to multiple conferences, which again is speculation, to avoid mininstering to those in need and that SA was only holding the conference as a means to enrich their coffers, but somehow that is not in the neighborhood of being a false accusation???? If you have legitimate concerns then you would do well to contact Sermon Audio instead of using the comment section to voice an unfounded opinion

1. Don't tell me what to do. Who are you? You don't even identify by your real name. Apparently you're pretty impressed with yourself to be bossing around grown people.
2. What does that even mean? What site? What evil deeds? Can you answer or counter my comments or do you just offer snide remarks?
3. If the site you're referring to (sarcastically) is SermonAudio, I've been commenting here since 2000. I'll certainly not stop because of you.

I'm not "falsely accusing" anybody and be assured I'm certainly not speculating. I'm sure I've got a much better idea of what these guys make than you think and it ain't peanuts. That's why there are so many "conferences" with the same group of celebrity religious stars pandering to each other and giving each other accolades over and over again. And I mean the same guys over and over, conference after conference. How much exactly to you think the apostles were paid for their gathering in Jerusalem (Acts 15)? I don't know but most of them suffered hardship thru the years and were ultimately killed for their faith. Do you see anything like that happening to these professional religious men in expensive suits? I sure don't. Just more of the cult of personality.
well then, do yourself a huge favor. Stop visiting a site filled with people who violate clear commands of Scripture. Lest you become a partaker of their evil deeds

To answer your question, yes you’re wrong. Read Acts 15 where they had a conference in Jerusalem. Note the words of our Lord who said come apart and rest to His busy disciples. Christian cruise sounds good too. These are men who labor without much thanks for being in the spots you mentioned because there is no glamour in it and they are doing the Lords work. Unless you’re aware of the financial workings of any given conference, it might be a good idea not to speculate and possibly falsely accuse the brethren

Wait! I've got this one! It's yet ANOTHER opportunity for a gathering of the same men who are at every other gathering (or "conference") to make even more money and adulation by going around being religious without having to get their hands dirtied with hospital visits and drunken parishioners calling at 3 in the morning. Am I wrong? Seems to me like the "conference" business is a very lucrative one indeed. Kind of like "Christian cruises".
