"Our campaign is not only about defeating Donald Trump," the 77-year-old self-described democratic socialist said in an email to supporters. "Our campaign is about transforming our country and creating a government based on the principles of economic, social, racial and environmental justice."
An enthusiastic progressive who embraces proposals ranging from Medicare for All to free college tuition, Sanders stunned the Democratic establishment in 2016 with his spirited challenge to Hillary Clinton. While she ultimately became the party's nominee, his campaign helped lay the groundwork for the leftward lurch that has dominated Democratic politics in the Trump era....
Now in Acts 5 we meet two who wanted to look good, like Barnabas, so they plotted to deceive the crowd with a donation that was made out to be totally sacrificial but really wasnât.  Note what Peter said to them,
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? (Private ownership of property, something not allowed in communism but encouraged in capitalism)
and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? (the power to do as you wish with your own capital, or what we call free enterprise/capitalism)
The Scripture simply doesnât fit Jimâs narrative that we have any type of communism being practiced by the early church.
Jim Lincoln wrote: God approves socialism, actually communism of a small "c," more than he does of capitalism apparentlyâ
the Bible is a book for our spiritual benefit It is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction. It is not a book about economics although it talks about them. The number one economic lesson is to lay up treasure in heaven.
Jimâs misconception is common but it neglects context. The Jewish people were required to gather for three main feasts. One of them was the feast of Pentecost. So we have thousands of Jews in Jerusalem during this time that normally live somewhere else. These who come, stay their appointed time and go home.
We read, however, of the conversion of 3,000 and a subsequent 5,000 shortly thereafter. We know they continued daily fin fellowship and learning for an extended period of time beyond what they have mapped out for Pentecost. Now you have thousands of extra people whose physical needs needed to be met. The brethren thus sold lands and possessions and brought the money to the apostle to distribute to those needs (I John 3:16-18). That is not communism it is brotherly love.
Faulty hermeneutic, Jim. Whatever nonsense was fed to you in college all those years ago you really ought to fully investigate, which would lead you to leave it behind. Many people have shared the good news of Jesus' reign and how you can now the knee now rather than later. The issues you advocate are not ones that are upheld by Scripture or should be held by those who uphold Christ as ruling over their lives. Our brother or sister Really? just reminded you of the real separation of church and state. You claim the US is not and never was a Christian country, but you want the state to do the work of the church. It doesn't work like that. You need to start with your hermaneutic. And you should start with Jesus, Who is at the center having created and sustained all things for His glory.
Jim Lincoln wrote: God approves socialism, actually communism of a small "c," more than he does of capitalism apparentlyâ Acts 4 32Â Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. 33Â And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34Â There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35Â and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. 2 Thes 3:10-12
Acts 4 pertains to the church. It doesn't teach it's the civil government's job to confiscate and redistribute as Caesar sees fit. Only someone who has a proclivity to socialism could possible read that into the text.

Titus 1 7Â For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,
8Â but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.
9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. ---ESV
You know these Democrats are actually just like Trump supporters, Dominionists. They're just emphasizing a different part of the Bible. đ¶
It should be noted from this Pew research article from late last year,
Jocelyn Kiley wrote: ...a majority of Republicans (55%) say the government âshould continue programs like Medicare and Medicaid for seniors and the very poor.â Just 10% of Republicans say the government should not be involved in providing health insurance at all....

David Brooks wrote: ....
...I think you will find a lot of Americans don't like the idea of government taking over large sectors of American industry and very complicated sectors of our society.
I think when Bernie Sanders says Medicare for all, we're going to take away your private health insurance, I think you're going to find a lot of people like their private health insurance....

Dr. Carl McIntire preached in 1949, "The present threat to our national life, so far as our internal affairs are concerned, is not communism; it is socialism, socialism! Socialism in various forms and shades is now being offered to the American people in most subtle ways. One of the most deceptive and alluring to the public is the present drive for socialized medicine."
Dr. McIntire was in many ways prophetic in his view of what would come later simply by watching he trends rising up. He apparently taught these skills to his disciple, Francis Schaeffer.
McIntire argued that the Bible focuses on the individual...his sin his failure to meet God's standards, his personal need for a personal Savior. Collective medicine or any other kind of socialism stands against this clear Biblical principle and is to be opposed. "Let me say frankly, in the light of the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ, socialism is not Christianity. It never was; it never has been; it never will be Christianity. Those who today are offering to us socialism, in the name of Christianity or in the name of Christian principles, are absolutely in error so far as the plain teachings of the Bible are concerned."
Mark Shields wrote: Yes. No, but Democrats don't do big events. And Bernie connected.
And I just point out that he raised $135 million in small contributions. He really changed it. He raised $50 million more than Donald Trump did in contributions under $200. It was just â it was a remarkable performance.
So, he did connect. But it is different. You're right. He doesn't have a single identifiable flawed opponent this time.... .... I want to reassure David's concerns. I mean, that is not the majority position of the Democratic Party.
The Green New Deal, it's aspirational. I don't think it's programmatic, by any means. And I think when you talk about socialism in the abstract, people â people do get upset, and understandably so.
But I think, if you're talking about health care, as the Democrats did in 2018, and the Republicans said â taking it away under Donald Trump, and millions of Americans were without health care who had it under Barack Obama, you know, there becomes â that becomes a different debate than talking about Medicare for all.

Senator Bernie Sanders had a very concise description of trump also.
"...took aim at President Donald Trump in an email to supporters, writing that âwe are living in a pivotal and dangerous moment in American history.â âWe are running against a president who is a pathological liar, a fraud, a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe and someone who is undermining American democracy as he leads us in an authoritarian direction,â..."
I think ancient Bernie skipped his oatmeal this morning, and got himself all confused, and made a Freudian slip on that one; describing his own beloved party by mistake. đ
Under capitalism, people work hard to get ahead and then they share the wealth they accumulate. Under socialism, people do as little as possible, become impoverished, and then rely on capitalists to bail them out of poverty. Socialism has never, ever, ever, ever worked, but the new breed of American socialists are so blindingly brilliant they just know they will succeed where all others have failed. If you added 50 points to their average IQ, they could almost attain idiot level.
