Religious colleges fear higher education becoming more hostile to faith
Religious colleges are attempting to “re-write” the narrative that exists today about faith in education before societal hostility mobilizes to one day push faith-based institutions out of the “mainstream” of higher education.

Presidents from colleges representing traditions of Protestant Christianity, Islam, Catholicism, Judaism and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered last week to discuss the challenges they face as secular society continues to grow more hostile to principles of “Abrahamic morality.”

Just days after the media hysteria surrounding second lady Karen Pence's job as an art teacher at a Christian private school in Virginia that adheres to biblical doctrine, presidents from the five religious colleges participated in a discussion just a few miles down the road in Washington, D.C., about the misunderstandings people have about faith in higher education. ...

""Religious colleges are attempting to “re-write” the narrative that exists today about faith in education""

Faith comes not by education.
But education by the grace of God comes by faith.

The study of theology and Bible does not bring about faith. The Romish fallacy and the Anglican liberalism demonstrates that fact.

Sharing faith is best done by family and local community.

Faith is the gift of God and not a human ability of its own, or origin.

Teaching religion and the Bible is worthy of a Christian society and should be done for Preachers and those who would take the knowledge further than simply sitting at a pew.

Teaching children the Bible is a good investment for the future and for the community.

Accommodating 'educated intellectual' reprobates in society from the perspective of an esoteric or recondite knowledge of the subject, is like competing with the ignorant and blind. (Eph 4:18)

Secular society is bound to be hostile to Christianity whether intellectual or thick as two short planks.

Everyone today wants to find something in common with false religions, where there are none. Amen, YIA. You brought the equaled yoke into its proper place.

If there is a commonality, it is that these groups all declare that there is a God - but have failed to know Him as He has revealed Himself through His holy and inspired word. They've passed the barest of Romans 1 tests - acknowledging that there is a God as His existence is revealed by Creation. But they have mistaken the god of their imaginations for the God of reality.

We could easily be there too if it weren't for faith through grace, and that not of ourselves.

Hope all is well with you, YIA. I pray for your and your family's safety.

all Good points Quiet Christian 😊. Everyone today wants to find something in common with false religions, where there are none. This article might work for works based cults like catholism, the many pentacostals, Seven day adventism, all who rely on the Law of moses for their salvation. They can't start with grace of Jesus, and therefore must start with the idolatery of the Pharisee.

"They answered him, "We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, 'You will become free'?" Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.

I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.
John 8:33‭-‬34‭, ‬37

My other take away is the concept of "Abrahamic morality." Most of us older people have heard of Judeo-Christian morality, worldview, etc. The harmony btwn the OT and NT makes that possible.

I don't find a lot of harmony within Abraham's life to consider an "Abrahamic morality" as a valid viewpoint based on the Lord. We have different gods, the True & Living God of the OT and OT/NT from that of the Koran.

I think we must reject any attempt to bring together under some sort of theological heading Christianity & Islam. It's like trying to categorize belief based on favorite flavor of ice cream.

Isn't there a similar discussion by Augustine in City of God in his severe criticism of the Romans teaching deplorable things to their children under the guise of what was then considered the standard in education? The children, boys in those days, were taught the horrifically depraved plays that were presented to their idols.

The situation is not much different today. Most colleges are attempting to indoctrinate their students into a Progressive, sometimes Socialist/Communist ideology.

I've never heard of Abrahamic morality and hold that with much skepticism, but there is a Bible consisting of the Old and New Testaments which establishes a morality based on what the Lord Himself has said to His people. And that morality stands in contrast to the ideology being spewed in those colleges.

My take away is that the Progressive ideology present has the potential to become the standard in education by which the public measures if the education is good.
