Pastor Who Posted “Bruce Jenner is Still a Man” on Church Sign Ousted As Pastor
It appears that LGBT activists in a small California community have successfully put their target’s head on a platter. Pulpit & Pen brought to you the news of Pastor Justin Hoke posting “Bruce Jenner is still a man. Homosexuality is still sin. The culture may change. The Bible does not” on the church sign at Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church. LGBT activists swarmed the church last Sunday, claiming the sign was “hateful.” Later, the activists vandalized the church sign. Today, Pastor Hoke announced that he was no longer the pastor at the church after an elder asked him to resign following claims of a potential mass exodus of church members.

No doubt the angry LGBT activists are now celebrating the pastor’s departure, as the church refused to stand behind the man of God or the Bible’s teachings. ...

"In Greek in the Bible, there are three words for love:
Eros is generally known as physical love
Phileo is brotherly love
Agape is generally known as divine love"

Clearly all definitions of "love" do not apply to every relationship in humanity.

"Phileo" = Brotherly Love. Is a work for the Christian which shows caring for your neighbours.
An example of this would be Encouraging them to Repent of their sins that they may belong to Christ and seek to go to heaven.

Thus to encourage a person to remain in sin and proceed to hell is not Love/caring for your neighbour.
An example of this is to encourage someone who believes they are a quote "gay christian" to continue in the sin of sodomite abomination (As God teaches in the Bible).

Teaching the Word of God is a way of seeking to share God's love with others.
For example God teaches
Rom 1: 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the LUSTS of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who CHANGED the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:"

A love for God, and His Living, and unchanging Word, trumps the love for the things, and ways of this fallen world, and what society considers to be good and right, along with its mis-guided sense of morality, as they happen to see it, such as tolerance, inclusiveness, and the right to love whom one chooses, gender equality, etc. God says, "No", forbids it, and refers to sodomy as an abomination, which is exactly what this trans nonsense is, as well.

Love is not telling them all is good, and loving everyone, no matter what...love is warning them that all is bad, and why.

The "activists" did not swarm, nor did they destroy. Actually, the current church leadership (minus hateful Hoke) said they held no blame toward the protestors for vandalizing the sign. The protestors actually took up a peaceful collection for the church, while singing songs and practicing spirituality and positive fellowship, and the church "respectfully declined" the donation. "Respectfully" is a quality I do not see on this page, too bad that you missed a message from the book you hold holy to "love one another." Don't worry, we will continue spreading love and don't even mind if you take a little credit for increasing love and toleance by sharing your expensive web space with me and allowing me to post my message of LOVE, acceptance, and Tolerance regardless of your gender identity, expression, or belief structure. thank you! I love you! I love all of you!! Good thing someone is looking our for love!!!! love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love 3

It would seem the congregation was somewhat supportive in the beginning but became intimidated given we're not used to persecution in North America.

I wonder what impact it would have if a majority of faithful churches on SermonAudio were courageousness enough to stand with this minister in biblical solidarity and replicate the sign and message across the country in the weeks to come.

I don't think Carl McIntire, Ian Paisley, or W. A. Criswell would have been intimidated.

Heard this sermon twice. Excellent and heartily recommended.
BTW, this church needs to take the Bible Presbyterian label off them.

I have downloaded and heard some more of Pastor Hoke’s sermons. Straight down the line, biblical, Reformation, solid, doctrinal content with no compromise, and both Christ centred and Bible centred.

From the sound it seems as if this was not a very large church, though I may be wrong.

The fact that no doubt the other elder was present at these sermons makes me wonder what he learnt from the excellent expositions he heard.

Does this compromising elder really believe in his wildest dreams that now the LGBT crowd have sensed victory by his getting rid of the “troublesome” pastor that they are going to call off their “hounds” and leave him and thus compromising congregation alone.

Don’t worry Pastor Hokes. God will honour those who honour Him, and He will give you a good ministry somewhere else. You are in good company. Even after the famous revival, and tremendous gospel success, Pastor Jonathan Edwards was most unexpectedly and unjustifiably sacked and expelled by his own church at Northampton in New England!!

This Pastor now needs to find a REAL Christian Church who do obey the Words and Doctrines of God. May the Lord find him such a ministry.

Jude :7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them!

My question is why did the pastor post this statement. Was it out of correctional love or hate. Everything we do should be to glorify God but we all fall short in that category. That being said a church that want stand behind it's pastor because of the fear of man deserves what it gets. We need to pray for that church and the former pastor. Satan is out to kill steal and destroy. Maybe this was what it took to get this pastor away from a legalistic politically correct church.
Well said! We will probably never know much about this pastor's true motive.

1. I was informed by our other elder that he felt he could no longer follow my lead as Pastor of TBPC.

2. I was informed that essentially all but one couple in membership would leave the church if I continued as pastor of TBPC.

3. Our other elder and the couple felt that those who left would likely return if I would leave.

4. Our other elder was agreeable to stay and assume the pastoral responsibilities.

Therefore it was determined that it would be in the best interest of the local body for us (TBPC and the Hoke family) to part ways.

Well, I can’t imagine why this pastor would even want to be a member or the leader of this apostate church. According to 2 and 3 above, the church leadership was only interested in the numbers. I normally refer to them as “hirelings”. So, I will simply say without additional knowledge that this pastor is being blessed by being kicked out. Let’s pray he is genuinely in the faith.

Isaiah 2:22- Stop regarding man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils; For why should he be esteemed?
This is unfortunate and a sad telling of the direction the church has been headed. Conforming to the culture and not to God’s Word.

I'm very saddened by this display of cowardice and compromise. It has become all too common.

May the Lord grant Mr. Hoke the courage to stand, overcome, and prevail in preaching that which is right and good in God's sight. I've prayed for the Lord to reveal His direction regarding what to do and what is next unto the pastor and his family also.

Anita, the sound of the hammer hitting the nail on the head just pinged out.
Pulpit and pen also has an article on SEBTS spending a lot of time and effort on transgender bathrooms, embracing the metoo# movement, etc. Daniel Akin spends time during a chapel service denouncing the CSA Stars and bars ( its called history people, just like Joe Kennedy sr. embracing Adolph Hitler), but the southern baptist seminary was instrumental in having Paige Patterson resign, and embrace of the lbgq movement has all the makings of the furthering of cultural communism.
And with sebts embracing cultural communism, imagine the wonderful men and women marching into your church pastoral committees , commanding all that can hear, when you hire a graduate of sebts graduate, you hire a leader who will get this backwards baptist church into the world with the correct world view, or else.

Thank you Christopher for your post and life experience. The article is a good example of comparing the cult and the true.

I wish I still had the little JW's discipleship manual which I acquired in the 80's from a junk shop. In it, they are very cleverly told how to spot a Pharisee-type Christian, when they go visiting on the doors. I'm sure there are a lot of fellow believers who don't realise this. But a lot of the things we do as Christians "reveal" to the door-knockers that we cannot be trusted because we are no better than the Pharisees of Jesus day.

I'm sure my own JW must be a bit puzzled, as over the Christmas period we were able to talk with him about paganism like Saturnalia and Roman Catholicism, and how the church has gone away from truth in many areas. So that although I am not a JW myself, he has finally met another person following Christ who holds the same principle as himself. And that must be causing him some thought.

When the fear of the local and no doubt, the not so local, LGBT and Transgender activists, combined with the state authorities of the “people’s republic of California” proves to be greater than God and His Holy Word for the eldership and membership of a supposedly solid evangelical church, then something is very wrong indeed.

What a contrast to another Presbyterian Church many many years ago in San Francisco, that stood firm against an LGBT attack on their members and building when a special sermon was announced dealing with this subject, and when they had had to remove a homosexual organist from their midst.

By the way, John (UK), you mentioned somewhere yesterday something about some people having been a part of the Moses cult, or something, and going on to become Jehovah's Witnesses, and wishing you had learned more about what they believe, or something to that effect. Hopefully I have that right. I liken the difficulty of witnessing to Jehovah's Witnesses, as I do, Mormons. They are both all in, unwavering, 100% certain that they alone hold the keys to Heaven, and are highly trained in apologetics to counter the "nay-sayers". Both of these cults will almost always have two people do8ng the knocking...one, and elder, and the other, a trainee.

"Kingdom of the Cults" is a great starter for the basics of what they believe, but one thing I've always done is to search out lists that are devoted strictly to the key differences. For example, a column on the left might have the heading, "What Jehovah's Witnesses believe", and the column to the right might read, "What scripture says", etc. A sort of a quick reference that lists the key differences between what the JW's believe and teach, and what Christianity believes and teaches. I've always found this sort of thing very helpful as a primer.

A very simplistic example:
