Hmong Christians in Vietnam Repeatedly Beaten and Arrested
Due to its ethnic background and high percentage of practicing Christians, Vietnamâ€™s Hmong community is often targeted and harassed by both the government and neighboring communities. In a communist country where Christianity is often seen as unpatriotic or a threat to the regime, Hmong Christians constantly face discrimination, harassment, land grabs, torture, and imprisonment.
Hmong Christians are estimated to make up 300,000 of the one million Hmong people in Vietnam. With its rapid church growth in remote areas, these tribal groups â€śexperience the most intense persecutionâ€ť according to religious freedom watchdog group Open Doors.

Soerens: Tragically, no. The number of Syrian Christians resettled this year, since January, has been just 9. By comparison, at this point in calendar year 2016, there were 54 Christians from Syria admitted. Thatâ€™s a decline of more than 80 percent. The crazy thing is the president made that pledge to facilitate resettlement of Syrian Christian refugees, specifically, on the same day he signed the executive order excluding all Syrians indefinitely. Itâ€™s very possible that he did not personally realize the full impact that order would have, but I think heâ€™s being advised by people whose antagonism toward refugees supersedes any concern for persecuted Christians...
