Feast of the Black Nazarene draws millions to Manila's streets
very year on January 9, millions of Filipinos — newspaper reports say as many as 10 million1 — gather in Manila for a procession of the Black Nazarene, or Poong itim na Nazareno, a life-sized statue of a suffering Jesus fallen under the weight of the cross, along a 6.5 km route from Rizal (Luneta) Park to the minor basilica in Quiapo. Few religious celebrations anywhere in the world can match this feast in terms of the number and fervor of devotees surrounding the procession. Attendance has grown remarkably in the last 20 years, and the route has been stretched to accommodate growing crowds. If newspaper accounts are correct, the number of Catholics attending the Nazarene feast equals, or perhaps even doubles that attending recent papal Masses in the same locale. Most Filipino Catholics consider the Nazarene statue to be miraculous, able to heal terminal cancers and other sicknesses, to grant ...

I really thought I'd get some comment, not from you, but someone saying, "Why is a supposed born again Christian listening to a Roman Catholic radio station?", and then followed up with a, 'Hmmm!" Ha-ha.
I call it research, Christopher.

Just observing what the enemy of souls is saying also helps to cement true beliefs.

I am now in regular contact with a chap who left the Moses David cult to join the Jehovah's Witnesses cult. I have done some study on both these, but I sure wish I'd done more, as it is so needful in witnessing to them.

Anyway, right before that particular segment, there was a Priest (I'm assuming) doing a question and answer segment with the callers. After that was the sacrament stuff, and the guy heading the whole thing up was the Bishop of Madison, WI. I thought that alone was fascinating, because all of that nonsense I posted earlier, and there was more, all came straight from a Bishop, and not some random Catholic so nobody can claim that the church doesn't do or believe this and that...came straight from a source who would know exactly what they teach, and what they're up to. Sad, spooky, and wicked.

Hide a green scapular, a blessed one, of course, near someone you want saved, or healed, and, POOF! There ya go...

A devilish system that has, and is, stealing away so many souls, under the guise of holiness.

I was listening to a new station near me called, Relevant Radio. I found it while channel scanning, and it turns out to be a Roman Catholic station; all things Roman Catholic, day and night. I listened for a bit to see what sort of things they talk about, and right now, it's all about the sacriments. They've been talking about green scapulars and hiding them near a person you want saved, blessed salt, water, and oil, the rosary, Mary, medals of saints, and how all of these things bring one closer to God bless them, and have the potential to physically heal, and save. Blessed salt supposedly wards off evil by sprinkling it behind furniture, etc., because it won't evaporate like the "blessed" holy water will.
Sad bunch of wicked nonsense, and so many are under that wicked systems spell, and why? Real simple...they are trusting in man for their truth, and can't be bothered to read what God Himself has to say. Salvation is dependant upon being under the umbrella of the Roman religious machine, and the intercession of Mary. Argh. ☠

I think it’s good to be informed about things like this, and it’s interesting because isn’t the Philippines the same place where people will crucify themselves? (to a lesser extent)

But I think it’s fascinating to see how zealous they are for this relic.

The article says, “Most Filipino Catholics consider the Nazarene statue to be miraculous, able to heal terminal cancers and other sicknesses, to grant petitions, and to help those in need.”

May we be reminded to pray for the missionaries and Christians in the Philippines.

Thanks bro.Christopher, for your thoughts

Between the continual romanist dung that is considered “news worthy” and seems to be dominating this forum, and the biting and devouring of “some” who feel the “calling” of straightening out everyone’s doings or not doing this site is a joke and a complete waste of time.

I wish you well and God’s blessing be upon you as you grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour.

Adieu.

"Why post up on a “Protestant” news site what the Roman Catholic cult and its adherents are doing in their witchcraft festivals?"

Take heart, sister...those who stole away our loved ones, and those who are beguiling other loved ones right at this moment, will receive their just recompense. Satan is alive and well, ravaging across this Earth like a plague, and among others, he is using the church of Rome as his soul stealing sword. He uses them to steal, kill, and destroy, and I know it's hit close to home for you, so the mere mention of anything Rome, is troubling. Most of my own family is still under their spell, and it breaks my heart to think they might pass on one day, and be lost forever. A devilish system with coffers overflowing with fabulous wealth, men adorned from head to toe in clean, long-flowing robes fit for kings, with gold threading, encrusted jewels, and speech flowing from their lips with just the right balance of truth to deceive billions. The outer beauty and air of feigned holiness draws so many in, while lurking just below the shell, and that nobody sees, is the blackness of wickedness; an ugly black, poison sludge. I hate the system, and feel your pain. 😔

Now, if they were singing the hymn, "I shall glory in the Cross" it would be OK, right?
It also reminds me of the Easter-time news story about how people in some part of the Philippines renact the crucifixion, even going so far as to have nails driven through their hands and feet.
As to why SermonAudio puts this on the News page, it's obvious that much of the news is about the opposition, including abortion and sodomites.
I didn't like the '42 million killed by abortion' story when it seems to be a US-only number, but when you read the details you see it is worldwide.
Well, that's fine, but what are we going to do about abortion in other countries? Can we vote out their governments? Send our military to overthrow every government that allows abortion? Or send $$ to a 'ministry' that fights against abortion around the world (instead of tithing to our local church)?
Taking other sinful behaviors--drinking and smoking, we can probably find statistics that show millions are killed around the world from both of them. And then there are other factors like poor road conditions (see South Africa for that one), or air pollution (India and China are two good examples there).
So, all in all, it is good to have stories like this to remind you how crazy the world is.

Why post up on a “Protestant” news site what the Roman Catholic cult and its adherents are doing in their witchcraft festivals?

Come on SA news staff, what is your objective here with your constant barrage of romanist cult “news articles”
