250 Dutch Christians sign Nashville Statement; prosecutors to decide if declaration breaks law

The Nashville Statement affirming belief in traditional Christian sexual ethics is under investigation by prosecutors in the Netherlands after over 250 Dutch Christian leaders signed the statement of faith.

The manifesto was initially unveiled in August 2017 and has been signed by over 22,000 Christian leaders in the United States. The Nashville Statement stresses that marriage is the “covenantal, sexual, procreative, lifelong union of one man and one woman.”

The statement, which is spearheaded by the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, adds that “it is sinful to approve of homosexual impurity or transgenderism.” ...

observation. john, I truly believe you thrive on conflict and controversy. Arguing and striving is just a sport to you and you're good at it. it's like an addiction with you, so i'll leave you to your endless debates and pointless ongoing disputations with those whom you regard as your brothers.
far be it for me to interrupt your social club, though in most fraternal associations, members viewed as trouble makers or disturbers of the peace are generally asked to leave? in a church setting they are disciplined.

wise counsel from bo
The only movement known to me that bickers and separates over such small matters are the strict brethren. You might find it a good fit for you. Ironically, added benefit for you is that they're rather lax on discipline - they have to be to survive in their little bubble.

Just to put my own ever-loving 2 cents into this ridiculous thread: my observation is that the monikers by the names of
"Older than old",
"sojourner from wilderness", and
"Banging on"
are all the same person, posing as three different people.

While screaming for humility, "they" post sarcastic and divisive questions and insults... while pretending to have some sort of authority. Amazing.

Poor John hasn’t a clue but this doesn’t stop him blaming others. What a tragic case. With him it’s always #youretheenemy and #lookhowgreatiam.

john, if you can so cavalierly set aside your differences here, as you have with those you so vigorously strove with in recent days, then it would seem you would be quite comfortable attending their church? Are they not after all your brothers? so why all the fuss?
why do you persist in stirring up trouble and fomenting strife amongst your brethren?
But as others at this forum have pointed out, if you joined a church, as a member, you would be under church discipline and unarguably under censure for saying the very things you have said here. you have not repented.
which begs the question john, why haven't YOU been shamed by your brothers for sowing division amongst the brethren. when others are? why are you exempt? why do you get a free pass? that is truly shameful.

observation. something very strange going on here. john is the one whom these SA posters were so incensed against at that other now closed SA thread. yet less than 24 hours later he's engaging with them as though nothing happened. no apology for sowing division amongst the brethren was given. yet once again john is enjoying their camaraderie
camaraderie defined:
mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together.
Instead of rallying around bo they rally around john? ? ? truly mystifying.

The only reason people on SA know me so well is because I never change monikers, believing that to be always changing moniker is a deception and unbecoming for a Christian.

If anyone in the shadows, behaving like some thought police, would care to convo with me about any subject, please do so with your one, known moniker.

Many folks have been so shamed in the past, that they change their moniker, hoping to get away with it, and start afresh; but their writing DNA is all over the page, and soon recognised.

Brethren will often strive with me, and that is fine. I used to strive with older Christians when I was a babe in Christ, and I found that I learnt a lot by arguing my case. It was a case of learning by one's mistakes.

Every Christian has a biblical duty to separate from certain churches.

Dolores

What a great encouragement you are. Sure, God loves you. He loves you enough to send his Son into the world by incarnation, that he might live and die in your place, so that you may be washed in the blood of the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

john,
observation. bo unarguably has more in common with the SA posters here. Bo has a church, as do the others you frequently engage with here at SA. but by your own admission, you have no church. that makes you the odd man out john. which begs question. where is the support for bo?

are you not ever striving with those whom you call brothers? one does get the sense that you need the approval and approbation of those with whom you relentlessly contend at SA?
or perhaps you simply enjoy sparing with them? is this just a sport with you?
is SA just a place to engage others in endless debate which at the end of the day has no substance?

How nicely put, Dolores. Thank you. This is what it is all about, this Christianity. It focuses on the love of God and love for God and his creation. It is a big mistake to love only those we agree with. Jesus taught about doing that, and it being no different from the heathen. Christians have a better thing to do, to love even their enemies; but especially to love those of the household of faith. It is by this, that we know we have passed from death unto life.
Such pious sentiments. Of course the true test of love is within the environment of a church where one has to live and work alongside other believers with their imperfections, idiosyncrasies, foibles and weird views, with less than perfect leaders etc but recognising their blood bought status and that Christ is the head of that church and ruling by and through his word. Making allowances for imperfections, living with them all with understanding, seeking their sanctification and the salvation of those around in the neighbourhood and seeking to aid further gentle reformation within the church instead of the highmindedness that insists on instant change or else. Such love requires long term commitment, patience, hope and real faith.

And this poor John will not understand.

Ah, the departing insult to all my brethren and sisters here on SA, vainly imagining them to be so simple as to be taken in by anything anyone writes, especially me.

I have always said, if anyone wants to learn something, there is over a million sermons here on SA from a variety of sources, some of them even going back centuries. Go there if you want to learn, not the forums where there is nothing but debate and people hurling insults.

Once again, the christmass cheer only lasted five minutes.

How can you when you don't listen to him in the first place? Too busy with your own agenda of minutiae observances to bolster your self righteousness and to foist your scruples on others.

Enough time has been wasted to shine the light on your agenda, so I shall take my leave and pray for the brothers and sisters here that they not be taken in by pretended humility and will worship.

Whenever some people turn up after a time away, you can be sure there will be evidence of old, nasty and reformed comments, which is not unusual, along with attempts to discredit others by telling lies or half-truths. Another thing you can be sure of is that threads will close down because of the abuse being hurled at certain ones, without good cause, and which is certainly not biblical.

The Reason TMC's advice goes unheeded is because certain ones are vainly imagining that they are "all right, have their doctrine perfect, their church is perfect, never changes from year to year, just keep it going, keep listening, keep attending, do as we say, don't argue with the LEADER."

Oh, I never argue with my LEADER. Thank you.

BO is a great representative of the reformed churches - that is exactly what most of them are like. And that is why it is doubtful if I will ever attend another one for the rest of my life.
The guy who is asking for people not to be so censorious and narrow minded must of course be the enemy because he challenges the censorious ones and their entire premise.

You'll always be welcome to any reformed church. However, whether you can last in any church given your superiority complex and ultra pharisaism is questionable.

No reformed church known to me resembles your caricature, but then of course that's exactly what it is - a caricature in order to tar a whole movement as evil. Presumably too since reformed baptists adhere to the 1689 BCF, you will never set foot in a RBC despite pretending to adhere to their doctrinal position?

The only movement known to me that bickers and separates over such small matters are the strict brethren. You might find it a good fit for you. Ironically, added benefit for you is that they're rather lax on discipline - they have to be to survive in their little bubble.

john, this turnabout of yours is truly stunning or perhaps mystifying is a better word.
which begs the question.
you said "But I don't have a church. Well, I don't think I do."
so where do you stand? would you be comfortable attending the church of your SA brothers?
BO hasn't backed off. is he now being ostracized / sidelined by your brothers? why isn't anyone talking to him? is BO now on the outs with them?
hard to keep up. strange turn of events.
