More than 100 believers arrested in Iran amidst Govt crackdown

More than 100 Christians have been arrested in Iran in just one week and ordered to cut all contact with religious groups and house churches.

They were detained by Iranian authorities, questioned on their involvement in Christian activities, and told to expect a call from Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence.

Christian charity Open Doors UK, which speaks out against persecution of believers, has described the news as “highly concerning”.

Frank, I just been reading today's passage and was reminded of what you said in these verses. A lot depends on how literally you take it, but if all are killed who refuse to worship the beast, then no Christian will be left to take the mark, it will only be unbelievers. It looks like a wholesale slaughter before the mandatory mark-making. What do you think, bro?

Revelation 13:15-17 KJV
(15)  And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
(16)  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
(17)  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Fair question.
So where does works of self righteousness come to be a figure for mammon of unrighteousness?

Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Ye are they which justify yourselves. Who? We can see its the Pharisees Jesus is addressing.

What were the Pharisees teaching in Rom. 10:3? Trying to establish their own righteousness right?
What was their reward\treasure\mammon\wage for their works?

2 Peter 2:15 Balaam loved the wages of unrighteousness;

What were his wages from? verse 12-15 says covetous practices.

2 Peter 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity...

Who is Peter talking about?

Those Who brought in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

So what was the habitation spoken of in Luke 16:9? Not with God so....

Good morning James,

Regarding this mammon business, I don't see how you arrived at calling it a picture of self-righteous works of the law.

Why always complicate the scriptures? Why not just see them as they are? In context, mammon is simply wealth or money. If you want to go deeper, mammon is like an idol or god, it enforces the love of money. It detracts from worshipping the true God, which is why it is dangerous.

Matthew 6:24 KJV
(24)  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Let's refocus bro.

My conclusion is that I do not think it a coincidence that the number 666 appears here.

1 Kings 10:14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

Mammon, as spoken here in Luke, appears to be a picture(figurative term) of self righteous works of the law.

I think we are not on the same page hence your questions.

The law of Faith(Rom. 3:27)(not the Decalogue)is what Paul teaches on in Romans. It is a work of God(John 6:29)(Deut. 30:6).

Same law mentioned here.

Jer 31:33 I will put "my law" in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts;

And is fulfilled by the keeping of this commandment as the rest of the letter attests to.

1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ(John 6:29), and love one another(John 13:34), as he gave us commandment.

James,

The salvation of the Lord is necessary because of a broken law.

There is no good, eternal future by referencing the law, rather you need to reference the Lord Jesus Christ who kept the law on our behalf and, being sinless, died in our place, paying the debt we incurred because we had broken God's law.

Salvation in Christ does not look to the law as a means of righteousness, but to Christ himself, whose righteousness is imputed to the repentant and believing sinner. Salvation is "apart from works", where the word "works" is the keeping of the 10 commandments.

So how come you constantly refer to the commandments? Are you seeking to be justified through law? Every time you post it seems you are quoting the same passages of scripture, to love God and neighbour, as though these are the things one must do to be saved.

Saving faith is in Christ. Any other faith is not the biblical faith. What are you trusting in, James, for your eternal felicity?

Tomorrow.....

Hey John,
I know you'll connect the dots from here on this.
There is a counterfeit gospel. The just shall live by Faith plus works.
Then there is The just shall live by Faith which Paul preached. The law of Faith.

Revelation 13:16 (KJV)
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,

***to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:***

What is this mark a counterfeit to? The first and greatest commandment. The Law of Faith.

Deuteronomy 6:5-8 (KJV)
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: ...

***8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.***

The counterfeit is attempting to bewitch and confuse like those in Galatia even the likes of true believers. What is the struggle Paul expounds upon in that letter? See 3:2.

I think those without the mark will be hunted down and either imprisoned or beheaded. I'm not sure how, but the antichrist and his minions will know. Of course, there are likely some they won't find or not know about. Besides, the Lord will protect those He chooses.

No, I do not get any survival magazines or study anything about that issue. At my age, what good will that do.

Since Chris mentioned the RCC, let me just say; I have always believed (not with certainty) that the RCC is the great whore noted in Revelations. I think they are the ones that will hunt down those without the mark and promote the antichrist's agenda. I have never heard anyone say the mark is the catholic cross, but I don't believe it is.

Yes, the timeline is off the mark, and according to the video, the mark will be the mark of Cathocism, and the Latin cross marked in ash, as a sign of the cross on everyone's forehead? Misses the mark for me. Also, whether or not "wild-eyed Charismatics", and the tinfoil mad-hatters, believe that the mark will be some type of an implant, doesn't take away from its possibility.

I can't imagine followers of Islam, Athiests, and Satanists, etc., getting in line to have a Roman cross drawn onto their foreheads, etc., to pledge their allegiance to the church of Rome.

My mind is open on this, because we can't possibly know for certain, so it's comical when anyone comes across one of the countless theories out there, and because it might be a bit off the beaten path, then eureka!...someones figured it out, and that theory gets rolled with as being the one, while any others fall by the wayside, and considered antiquated, implausible, and even, ridiculous.

A closed mind is a dangerous thing...

Notice here the positioning of the mark. If the language was meant to be figurative, then why note the right hand or the forehead? The second point is the consequence of the mark. If those who don’t have the mark cannot buy or sell, then it must be something that can be seen visually or recognized with some type of electronic devise.

Re. 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

The mark will also mean they worship the antichrist.

Since the forehead is mentioned, I'm not all that sure that at least some of the marks will be visible.

Interesting video.

However, there is a problem regarding timeline. Revelation 13 speaks of a sea beast and an earth beast. The earth beast receives his power to give the 666 mark from the sea beast who had a deadly wound which had healed.

So, no mark until after the sea beast is mortally wounded and his mortal wound is healed.

You'll find the majority of tin-hat conspiracy 'prophets' also believe an electronic chip is the mark of the beast and also most wild eyed Charismatics etc BUT before we go down that avenue what did Christians of old believe...the Reformers, Spurgeon etc?

Many who claim to be Biblicists can't 'spiritually' see the Doctrines of Grace, but were quick to tell us Hitler, Saddam, Obama, Putin and any tin pot dictator ... are the Antichrist. The same guys who told us the national security/insurance number that we each possess was the mark of the beast; or our driving licence number.

The video is 6 minutes.

No problem bro,
My conclusion is that I do not think it a coincidence that the number appears here.

1 Kings 10:14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

Solomon had his gold fashioned into "shields" which were used for weapons of war.

I have not read a contradiction to which Gold\mammon\money\lucre to not be one in the same.

A few places that mention mammon are Luke 16:14 and Matthew 6:24.

Here is some of the context from the passage in Luke.

Luke 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

The results for the unjust steward.

As for chip implants, advances are being made, and I think it's gonna be available in the very near future. A chip implant behind a pets ear is merely a barcode for identification, and that can be done with people right now. The technology that's in the works that goes beyond that is GPS tracking. Right now, say a parent wanted an implant for their child...in addition to the implant itself, a large battery pack would be needed as well, so that's what they're trying to figure out. I'm thinking that the mark of the beast would incorporate a barcode, as well as the ability to track, for full control. Maybe not, but that's my thinking on it.
When barcodes first came out, someone noticed that every barcode had a 6 at the start, a 6 in the middle, and a 6 at the end of the code. Some sort of protocol, a bit like every website having http and so on. I don't know if that is still the case, but at the time, a lot of folks related that to the mark of the beast.

Bro James, thank you, and your conclusions?

Good morning Bros

A different perspective that was shown to me I think should be considered and I'd like to share with you that's found in Scripture.

1 Kings 10:14 (KJV)
14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money in Luke 16:13-14 and in the context we get a hint to what I believe this refers to.

LUKE 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

Seems the true riches would be the righteousness that's of God(John 6:29) and then unrighteous riches or false ones being their own works(John 7:7) for righteousness and not God's.

Compare the two verses below.

Revelation 13:16 (KJV)
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Deuteronomy 6:5-8 (KJV)
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words...
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
