Voyager 2 probe moves into interstellar space

Eleven billion miles from Earth, NASA's long-lived Voyager 2 probe, still beaming back data 41 years after its launch in 1977, has finally moved into interstellar space, scientists revealed Monday, joining its sister ship Voyager 1 in the vast, uncharted realm between the stars.

Voyager 2 moved past the boundary of the heliosphere, the protective bubble defined by the sun's magnetic field and electrically charged solar wind, on Nov. 5. The transition was marked by a sharp decline in the number of charged particles detected by the spacecraft's plasma science experiment, or PLS.

The instrument has not detected any signs of the solar wind since then. ...

When I behold thine heavens, even the works of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained, what is man, say I, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man that thou visitest him? - Psalm 8:3-4

The more we learn of the universe which declares the glory of God (Psalm 19:1,2), the more Psalm 8 should become more and more real.

And to think, man ruined it all through the Fall, and it all is waiting for the revealing of the sons of God (Romans 8).

I wish that there Voyager would light in my backyard. I could make a bodacious possum grill out of that thing.

Maybe they will find the flying toasters that used to appear on computer screens every time they were left alone for a while.

This is about the fourth time it has left the solar system. Past the orbit of Pluto, past the heliopause, etc.

Right for sure Mississippi 1,2,3...

The vastness of the universe is an undeniable truth of the existence of God...

But, non believers are ok with any explanation except the only one that can explain it all correctly...

Interesting to see this news item at SA because every time I have read or heard of any space news, it is always from an atheist viewpoint. There is even a local talk show that has an astronomer come on Wednesdays, and they will usually get a call or two from some hard-core Christian trying to argue for the existence of God. The host and astronomer, atheists both, will argue against him. He never wins.
It seems to me that people who get into this area of study are trying to prove that God does not exist. They just love the talk of some Intelligent Life Out There, as long as it is not GOD.

I remember that oppossum experiment...

If my memory serves me right, the astronauts ended eating them after only giving them 30 minutes to wake up...

I guess it hard to not leave alone the best eatin around when its right in front of you...

Way before dogs and monkeys, NASA sent two possums into space. However, the critters spent so much time hanging upside down that the scientists on the ground couldn’t tell if they were weightless or just taking a snooze.

Interesting...there used to be a selection of crosses along with my phones stock icons. I just noticed that they've all disappeared, after a previous system update, I'm assuming. I wonder if the PC police targeted Samsung and demanded the removal of any religious symbols.

...and good point, Foster. We have no clue what real persecution is.

It was very easy for the scientists to know that the Voyager had left the solar system, because the Chamber of Commerce for Pluto no doubt put out a sign saying "You are now leaving the Sunny Sol solar system. You all come back soon 🌞 "

I don't know about the odometer on that gadget but every inch of the wings had duck feathers pasted all over 'em for extra speed and lift. I heard that they send out these probes just to be sure our planetary neighbors ain't inhabited by rednecks, hillbillies, or hicks. Of course, the probes would've never survived an encounter anyway on account of being scrapped on the spot. And who knows? Someone like our friend from Rhode Island might mistake one for a shopping cart and move in.

On a more serious note, this is interesting from a scientific perspective.
