100 Christians snatched in overnight raids on underground Chinese church
About 100 worshippers at an unofficial church in southwestern China were snatched from their homes or from the streets in coordinated raids which began on Sunday evening.
Chinese authorities targeted members of the Early Rain Covenant Church across various districts of Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan, in what appears to be an effort to close down one of the countryâ€™s most prominent Protestant house churches.
Membersâ€™ personal accounts and cell group discussions on social media channels were blocked at around 9pm on Sunday while the churchâ€™s telephone line was also cut. The homes of the churchâ€™s leaders, including pastor Wang Yi, were among those raided....
Reminds me of the early Christians and the persecution they suffered. They worshipped in Catacombs as well. May they,too, be strengthened as they face the ordeals of being a hated follower of Christ. God bless and keep them strong in Him.
Praying for the brethren, especially between the official state church, so many now think it's such a little thing to compromise the headship of the church to buy and sell with ease, ,Lord watch over the remnant both here and there
I often wonder if we would have the same spiritual fortitude the Chinese church is maintaining in the midst of such persecutions. It won't surprise me if we get to answer that question with first-hand experience some day in this very naughty nation.
