Houston Chronicle retracts eight stories with sources allegedly made-up by high-profile reporter
The Houston Chronicle has decided to retract eight bogus stories written by a former reporter. The decision came after an internal investigation found that the reporter apparently made up sources and quoted them in his stories.
“The relationship between a newspaper and its readers is one of trust,” Chronicle executive editor Nancy Barnes wrote Thursday in statement that explained the decision. “This investigation points to an egregious breach of that trust that is an offense to readers and journalists alike. We apologize to our readers, and to the Houston community.”
She added: “We will be correcting or retracting all of the affected stories in order to set the record straight to the best of our ability, as I promised when this was first brought to my attention.”...
I used to be subscribed to Alex Jones YouTube channel, before it got banned, and WAS a pretty consistent listener to his radio program several years ago. Now, I'm just subscribed to his daily newsletter.
Stop fake news!!! That would shut down most of Jim’s “reliable “ sources especially NYT, CNN, MSNBC and the 3 main ones on TV (NBC ABC CBS.). His “fact check” sites would have retract their false findings. Media Matters would go silent
Two cents, Infowars is a perfect example of an irresponsible fake news generator. I do not believe they have at any time corrected there fake news stories.

Founded in 1999 by Alex Jones, InfoWars is a far right American conspiracy theorist and fake news website and media platform. The radio program originates from Austin, Texas and is broadcast on over 100 radio stations. InfoWars routinely reports fake news that has led to harassment lawsuits against Alex Jones. InfoWars is most famous for promoting the fake false flag idea that the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings were staged by actors and directed by the government. This has resulted in numerous lawsuits against Jones by grieving parents who lost their children in the mass shooting. Further, during a child custody case, Jones’ attorney admitted that Alex Jones is a “performance artist.”
More evidence that truth lies dead in the streets, Jim, that's all. Isaiah 59 pertains.
The Houston Chronicle is in a tough spot because their readership demands better reporting, and they'd better make amends or face financial diffuculties. Meanwhile, the New York Times doesn't have the same pressure but can encite then publish short stories envisioning the assasination of the President as if that would be a desirable outcome. They won't recant or apologize because they are egging on their readership. No so long ago, there woukd have been serious federal law enforcement investigations and potentially arrests for similar public comment threatening the life of the President. And maybe there are...
The Houston Chronicle shows what I reliable, respectable news source does. When it has erroneous new stories they publicly correct them. So what does that show about sources such as Infowars?
