Pastor Rick Warren is recovering after an emergency surgery.
Warren, best-selling author and pastor of Saddleback Church, Lake Forest, California, was rushed to a hospital Thursday morning and immediate surgery was required for a perforated intestine.
Rick's wife, Kay Warren was mid-flight to Northern Ireland when she heard the news and immediately flew back to be with her husband, according to an update posted to the Causeway Coast Vineyard Church Facebook page. CCV was hosting Kay Warren for the Illuminate Women's Conference....
I do pray that this famous pastor will recover physically, but I also pray that he will recover spiritually.
Tragically, his wrong doctrines, his interfaith PEACE plan, his Purpose Driven programme, his health programme (the wrongly named Daniel plan), where he teamed up with New Age non-Christian doctors, gave all reaped havoc with many previously good solid evangelical churches.
Even the fairly solid Pentecostal Church I attended for some years, in my Pentecostal days, as the long serving doctrinal pastor aged and began to get tired, he took the church through the ‚ÄúPurpose Driven‚ÄĚ 40 day cpurse. In the end the Purpose Driven plan was not fully adopted, but it began a programme of decline.
A couple of years later the pastor retired, but stayed on as an elder.
The more doctrinal deputy pastor was not allowed to succeed him, and a man was brought in who brought in heavy CCM, emerging church tendencies were encouraged, entertainment evangelism became the centre and key of the church, and social justice (‚Äúcompassion ministry‚ÄĚ) was the centre of the church‚Äôs programmes. I believe the Purpose Driven experiment really set up the church for all this.
I truly hope he recovers well, but also hopes that he finds that his "purpose-driven life" was never his to drive nor were those purposes his own to discern but the Lord who sits sovereignly over his life and ministry. I'm sure thks didn't happen "on purpose."
