Do Methodists Have a Case Against Jeff Sessions?
Earlier this week, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions was interrupted by a Methodist minister in a clerical collar who shouted verses from Matthew 25 during a religious liberty event in Boston.

“Brother Jeff, as a fellow United Methodist, I call upon you to repent, to care for those in need, to remember that when you do not care for others, you are wounding the body of Christ,” said Will Green, pastor of of Ballard Vale United Church in Massachusetts.

Green’s remarks, followed by another outcry from a Baptist pastor, led both clergy to be escorted from the event. The Trump cabinet member briefly responded, “Thank you for those remarks and attack, but I would just tell you we do our best every day to fulfill my responsibility to enforce the laws of the United States.” ...

Thanks for your thoughts, Carl. I agree.

When I read the article it became clear that a liberal political agenda is at play within the UMC. From the article:

"They’re unsettled to see a fellow member of the United Methodist Church (UMC) enforcing policies their tradition opposes, specifically, the White House directive to apprehend and separate families crossing the US border."

Open border liberals trying to force their agenda while hiding behind the skirts of God.

I don't think any of these ministers are privy to Jeff Sessions charitable giving in food, money, and clothes; or how frequently and how much he gives in tithes and offerings; or how often he visits those in prisons, nursing homes, and other institutions. And I don't remember the Lord browbeating King Herod or any other secular leader on feeding the poor. However, I do remember the Lord tearing into the religious leaders for how they treated the poor and shaking down the widows. Sessions is not a religious leader but those pastors who railed against them are. When Jesus said "You give them something to eat" I believe He was talking to His disciples and not the governments. Those of clergy who want to pass off on governments what the Bride of Christ should be doing are simply Harlots riding the beast.

As usual, the article from Christianity Today is detailed and is excellent in explain how Methodist do church discipline. Since you can read the whole article you might as well take a look at it. This is what some of the things that John MacArthur's church has to say about church discipline.
Grace Church wrote:
The purpose of church discipline is the spiritual restoration of fallen members and the consequent strengthening of the church and glorifying of the Lord. When a sinning believer is rebuked and he turns from his sin and is forgiven, he is won back to fellowship with the body and with its head, Jesus Christ.

The goal of church discipline, then, is not to throw people out of the church or to feed the self-righteous pride of those who administer the discipline. It is not to embarrass people or to exercise authority and power in some unbiblical manner. The purpose is to restore a sinning believer to holiness and bring him back into a pure relationship within the assembly....
