A politically-liberal Christian organization will host get-out-the-vote "revivals" in nearly 30 towns across the nation this coming month in an effort to unseat Republican members of Congress this fall.
"We don't just say we are running it like a revival. It really is a revival," Pagitt, the pastor of Solomon's Porch in South Minneapolis, said. "The theme of it is 'from fear to faith for the common good.' That is the branding around the particular event."
Those expected to speak include author and activist Brian McLaren, author Frank Schaeffer, activist Shane Claiborne, Pastor John Pavlovitz, Pastor Rob Schenck and Rev. Jacqui Lewis, a minister at Middle Collegiate Church in New York City who advocates for LGBT and racial equality.
"We are not reflexively partisan or reflexively Democrats," Pagitt declared. "Our statement is that the Trump administration is a hazard to the wellbeing of a lot...
A reflection of Jim agenda he tries to push on here. As something Spurgeon spoke about in his own day.
Dealing with the evil forebears of these emerging postmodern neo-liberals & here’s what he said about such as these who make shipwreck of people’s faith:
Spurgeon; Find if you can, beloved, one occasion in which Jesus inculcated doubt or bade men dwell in uncertainty. The apostles of unbelief are everywhere today, &!they imagine that they are doing God service by spreading what they call “honest doubt.” This is death to all joy! Poison to all peace! The Savior didn’t so.
I haven’t much patience with a certain class of Christians nowadays who will hear anybody preach so long as they can say, “He is very clever, a fine preacher, a man of genius, a born orator.” Is cleverness to make false doctrine palatable? Why, sirs, to me the ability of a man who preaches error is my sorrow rather than my admiration.
I can’t endure false doctrine, however neatly it may be put before me. Would you have me eat poisoned meat because the dish is of the choicest ware? It makes me indignant when I hear another gospel put before the people with enticing words, by men who would fain make merchandise of souls; & I marvel at those who have soft words for such deceivers.
This is not a large group, for sure. Some may wonder--why bother going to a church that affirms homosexuality and all the grab bag of perversions that goes with it? Why would anyone in their right mind even think of giving money to fund their pastors and staff and bldg maintenance? Of course, they are living off the past, especially from sales of their centrally located churches (remember the one in California that was posted here as a news item?). It is well known that liberals do not support charities to the same degrees as conservatives. Think for a second--would they promote tithing? (not that even conservative Christians practice that, but at least some of them do). Just like Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has few black law clerks in her office, liberals like to talk one thing but will not practice it.

Conservative Christians who are anti-Trump can legitimately complain about liberal Christians. Trumpian types live in glass houses so their complaints will be completely ignored by the public.
As it has been pointed out however, George Will did a very good job of pointing out that Mr. Trump was not a conservative before he was elected,

Conservative Christians who also happen to be Republicans should be looking for a more suitable person to be Presidentâť—

I think I agree with you!
Yes, all Christians are conservative, but not all conservatives are Christian. I think many of us, me included, sometimes use the term conservative as a synonym for a Christian. All that does is give conservative who are not Christian a false sense of morality and belonging.
An unsaved conservative can bear no Christian fruit; the same as an unsaved liberal.
Some of The most obvious "Liberal" churches are the Anglicans - Episcopalians - PCUSA - and Mega's.
These are the kinds of churches which legalize terms such as "gay-christians" "same-sex marriage" "multi-faith" and other such worldly ideologies.
The Liberals in churches are people who relegate the Bible to being the word of man mythology; - Therefore *they* can rewrite it to improve its acceptance and harmony with everybody - and all "lifestyles."
Their image of God never gets in the way of this action, because he is such a nice, loving guy that he accepts everybody, regardless of their convictions.
And what about sinners? - Don't worry about them there aren't any; Just folks waiting to make the right decision or choice. Repentance is unnecessary.
All you have to do is sit in a nice polished pew and sing some nice songs, and snap! you're a christian. Next stop heaven. You're saved!!
As for those 'nasty' people who stick to the Bible and dare to judge you? Why they are just kill joys who believe in the 'myths' of the Bible.
Is that Francis Shaeffer's son, Frank, listed as a speaker? Yet another child born into the Bible Presbyterian Church who has gone far astray. If so, his father wrote his most famous work, "How Then Shall We Live?", at his own most swing into liberalism using pornographic concepts to prove his point about the degradation of Western society - in part as a poke in the eye of his old mentor. But even Frank's father would agree that what his son is supporting is NOT how we should then live.
Jim, I find your duality fascinating. If I propose voting for a Republican candidate based on the issues, I'm an evangelical unduly wrapped up in politics. If these people who also profess to be Christians entertain other ideas, they are somehow saving the country and the opposing political party? Can you explain how this works?
A good site that is still archived that one can view still, as the overseer of the site went home to the Lord a couple of years ago. Did a really good job in exposing the lies of others, who have another Jesus through another gospel message. That leads to the broad way of spiritual destruction to ones own soul & others who buy into the lies amen!
They're the "Christians" who are pro-life! Unless the mother's life is in danger, the fetus has no chance of survival, or rape/incest were involved. Then you need access to abortion facilities because that fetus is obviously not made in God's image.
They're the "Christians" who proclaim the soveignty of God! And allow space in their lives for tolerance of other religions who's gods are "equally soveign".
They're the "Christians" who claim God's word is true and right! And hand the mic over to women pastors & homosexuals to give their story about the true, unfailable word of God.
They're the "Christians" who believe God should rule over their lives. And the government should be the vehicle to that; from healthcare to your paycheck to your family planning to you children's upbringing to your retirement - the government is the hand of God in our life.

If Democrats gain control of the House but not the Senate, they will be a check on the president without becoming a threat to his best policies (from a Republican perspective) or able to enact their worst policies. The tax cut will stand. The Senate will still approve conservative judges. But the House will conduct real oversight hearings and expose both Russian influence and administration corruption. Under Republican control, important committees -- such as chairman Devin Nunes' Intelligence Committee -- have become scraping, sniveling, panting, pathetic tools of the executive branch. Only Democratic control can drain this particular swamp.
Alternatively: If Republicans retain control of the House in November, Trump will (correctly) claim victory and vindication.... He will have proven the electoral value of racial and ethnic stereotyping. He will have demonstrated the effectiveness of circus-like distraction. He will have shown the political power of bold, constant, uncorrected lies. And he will gain many more enablers and imitators....
