Colorado asserts right to renew attack on baker's Christianity

But Colorado officials now are asking the court to dismiss Phillips’ claims against them, arguing that since the old members of the commission are gone, the new ones have a restored authority to prosecute Phillips.

The state argued the complaint “does not allege that any commissioner who is named as a defendant here was also serving as a commissioner when the commission finally decided the 2012 discrimination charge and defended that decision in the Masterpiece I appeals.”

Phillips’ lawsuit cites the fact that the commission refused to prosecute several homosexual bakers who were given permission to refuse to create a cake with a Bible message that violated their beliefs.

But the state says those decisions also were made by previous commissioners, so it should have no ramification on the state’s current prosecution of Phillips. ...

Why do Colorado officials believe they have the right to go against the ruling of the United States Supreme Court?

It looks to me as if the Colorado State Equal Opportunities Commission are determined to put Jack Phillips out of business, as a warning to anyone else not to resist their LGBT / Transgender agenda.

They do not care what the US Supreme Court, or even the basic rule of law says. They are just determined to push their agenda no matter what.

We must pray for Jack Phillips and his family, and his employees that he will be vindicated, and God will be glorified in the state of Colorado, the same state that has totally legalised marijuana, yet they cannot allow a godly Christian baker to carry out his business according to his convictions as proclaimed by the First Amendment, even if the Colorado State has to defy the law to persecute him and get him out of business.

I still think Phillips could have a "double jepardy" argument, but admittedly it will be a stretch by his legal team to successfully argue that.

But "Amen!" to your prayer, Tim.

Unfortunately, the prohibition against double jeopardy applies only to prosecution for the same alleged crime, and not to civil suits or prosecution for another alleged crime. IOW Colorado can and probably will hound Phillips out of business. May God not only intervene on his behalf, but severely punish his persecutors.

Is there a "double jepardy" prohibition in the Colorado Constitution? Philips may be able to extend US Constitution prohibitions against "double jepardy" for this case. Basically, that means the same entity cannot try someone twice for the same crime.

But since Progressives care little for the rule of law, no reason for them to consider such rights for someone they disagree with.
