Daily Glass Of Wine May Lead To An Earlier Death

We often see studies that tell us not only is light or moderate drinking not harmful to our health, in some cases, it’s actually good for us. But new research out of Washington University’s School of Medicine suggests that daily glass of wine may not be such a good idea after all. Instead, it actually raises your risk of dying sooner.

According to the study of more than 400,000 American adults, light drinkers — regardless of age — are 20 percent more likely to suffer a premature death.

“It used to seem like having one or two drinks per day was no big deal, and there even have been some studies suggesting it can improve health,” notes first author Dr. Sarah M. Hartz, an assistant professor of psychiatry at the university, in a release. “But now we know that even the lightest daily drinkers have an increased mortality risk.” ...

What gets me is that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord in the first place. Why bother sustaining such a singular Creation thru Noah or anyone else? John 3:16 gives that answer.

I totally agree with you MS.

I was just thinking if Noah hadn't made wine, he hadn't been laying around nude in his tent, senseless. Ham wouldn't have seen him like that, and Canaan wouldn't have been cursed.

Genesis 9:20-25
And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:

And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

The problem is man is a sinner.
Sinners went into the ark, and sinners came off it.
Look to Christ as your only righteousness and right standing before a Holy GOD.

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

I wonder sometimes is Noah hadn't made wine, if we'd have some of the mess we have today....

Prov 9:1-5 "Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars. She has prepared her meat; she has mixed her wine;
she has also set her table.
She has sent out her female servants;
she calls out from the highest points of the city: 'Whoever is inexperienced, enter here!' To the one who lacks sense, she says,
'Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine I have mixed.'"

And that's Wisdom speaking. I'll add only that drinking is not a sin, being an alcoholic is. Eating is not a sin, but gluttony is. Speaking is not a sin, but lying is.

1 Corinth 10:30-31: "If I partake with thanks, why am I slandered because of something I give thanks for? Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory."

This passage helped solidify my understanding of the temporate use of alcohol, although for both love's sake and for my health, I do not drink alcohol:

And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God (in the place which he shall choose to cause his Name to dwell there) the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstborn of thy kine, and of thy sheep, that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is far from thee, where the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name, when the Lord thy God shall bless thee, then shalt thou make it in money, and take the money in thine hand, and go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose. And thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thine heart desireth: whether it be ox, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatsoever thine heart desireth: and shalt eat it there before the Lord thy God, and rejoice, both thou, and thine household. - Deuteronomy 14:23-26

Sometimes in Deuteronomy, Moses gets mad and one can tell. This passage does not appear to me to be one of those times. Also, Moses never set Israel up to sin but his anger was directed at them due to their sin (and probably that their sin caused him to sin and

How do you know this? Acts 2:13 implies new wine is intoxicating. Does one get silly after drinking Welch's?

This is another example of Federal money wasted on studies which cannot learn anything true. Why should we believe their methodology is superior to the earlier one that claimed 1 glass/day is good for you? Maybe VA survey participants fib about their daily consumption.

John for JESUS from Atl writes:
I wonder if Jesus knew that before He turned water to wine?

One must ask the question, was it new wine or old wine? New wine is simply grape juice and still has all the sweet sugar from the vine, has not been corrupted with leven and turned bitter.

Old wine
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
Proverbs 20:1 KJV

New wine
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.
Psalms 104:14‭-‬15 KJV

What does that even mean, Jim?That the old testament was only for the Jews? Excuse me, but your Hebrew roots are showing.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

CDC wrote:
What does moderate drinking mean?

According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans,1 moderate alcohol consumption is defined as having up to 1 drink per day for women and up to 2 drinks per day for men. This definition refers to the amount consumed on any single day and is not intended as an average over several days. However, the Dietary Guidelines do not recommend that people who do not drink alcohol start drinking for any reason. [ ❗ ]
