Brett M. Kavanaugh sworn in as Supreme Court justice
Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh was sworn in early Saturday evening as the Supreme Court’s 114th justice, even as protesters chanted outside the court building across from the U.S. Capitol.

The Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh earlier Saturday by one of the narrowest margins in the institution’s history, as police stood guard and protesters’ shouts of “shame, shame” echoed through the Senate chamber.

The 50-to-48 vote capped a brutal confirmation fight that underscored how deeply polarized the nation has become under President Trump, who has now successfully placed two justices on the nation’s highest court, cementing a conservative majority. ...

While the Republican leadership celebrates the seating of Brett Kavanaugh as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Chief Justice Roberts yesterday requested the Tenth Circuit to review more than twelve ethics complaints that have been made against Kavanaugh. The complaints concern Kavanaugh’s behavior at the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 27....

Even if Brett Kavanaugh is found guilty of these charges, he still apparently can't kick him also Supreme Court, at least according to this interesting Forbes article.

Indeed Jim advocates for Christians to support government run healthcare,, government dictating how businesses should work, and government welfare but against any political action by Christians and conservatives for the rights of unborn children and for any conservative cause. Alas, that is what liberals do. When did anyone she a Phil Johnson quote about not trusting in government when the cause was liberal?

It is indeed correct as Phil Johnson has stated that we must not trust in men, including politicians, to advance the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

However, Mr Lincoln does not always listen or read carefully enough to the sermons and writings of Phil Johnson and the pastor he works with, John MacArthur.

I have a downloaded video sermon of John MacArthur, preached in the church about 2 years ago in the wake of the infamous US Supreme Court Obergefell decision, legalising “gay” marriage throughout the USA.

It is called “We Shall Not Bow”, and it is very clearly talking about this decision. Pastor MacArthur made it clear that both Roe v Wade, and Obergefell, were as bad as any terrorist outrage of Al Qaeda or ISIS, and these two terrorist style acts were carried out by the US Supreme Court!!!

I somehow think that Pastor MacArthur was very happy with the confirmation of US Supreme Court Justice Brett M Kavanaugh.

Great news, but I have to admit that I was uncertain about which way the three Republican wildcards would vote. I wondered whether or not they would base their vote on the facts, or on the protests in order to save face.

That was preventing sin for the sinner's sake.

There is a concept, Jim, of the prevention of sin for the winner's sake. All those who are unrepentant and have no faith in the Lord Jesus Christ face judgment and damnation. If by preventing them from conducting more evil, perhaps we will have kept hell from being quite so hot for those poor souls who rejected the Gospel.

But my sense is that you could instead be bemoaning Christians standing in the way of your glorious vision of the new socialist republic.

Phil Johnson wrote:
We need to remember that political clout has nothing whatsoever to do with spiritual power....In fact, what you’ll see is that jockeying for political clout is one of the very strategies Jesus named as worldly methods that are not to characterize leadership in His kingdom. He said His kingdom is permanently set apart from every earthly dominion because Christ’s kingdom is advanced by humble service rather than through the kind of political strategies that depend on the exercise of human authority.

...Nothing in the past half century has done more damage to the evangelical cause than the notion that the best way for Christians to influence society is by wielding our collective political clout. If you think the most important answer to the ills of our society is a legislative remedy; if you imagine that political activism is the most effective way for the church to influence culture; or if you suppose the church is going to win the world for Christ by lobbying in the halls of Congress and by rallying Christians to vote for this or that type of legislation—then both your trust and your priorities are misplaced.
