Indonesia earthquake and tsunami death toll surpasses 830

The death toll on the island of Sulawesi stands at 832 people, but officials expect that number to climb as rescuers on Monday continue to sift through the destruction left by a powerful earthquake and tsunami.

Two days after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit the island and 3-meter-high waves crashed onto its northern shore, authorities continued combing through chunks of concrete and lumber searching for survivors.

Getting into Palu, which saw the worst of the destruction, has been difficult. An airport runway was damaged, limiting flights into the area, and several roads and bridges have been washed out, said Jan Gelfand, who heads the International Red Cross delegation in Indonesia. ...

Is this EARTHQUAKE coupled with a SUNAMI God's severe mercy to bring this entire nation to repentance in faith toward Jesus Christ?

It was only a few years ago that the Imam's forbade their people to go to a newly build Christian hospital that had the most current technology.

This Psalm seems to be the only adequate and appropriate prayer for these people.

There seems to be no other way to respond to the recent calamity Indonesia is experiencing, except tearful prayer.

Certainly remember the brethren there. Pray that there's a continual and effectual body of God's co-laborers there to bring the Gospel to this nation. May God cause ourselves to seek to please him in all our ways.

God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.
That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes unto the Father, but by me.
(John 13:6).
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
(John 6:44) AV.

I will often agonize over the living lost souls that will eventually suffer the wrath of God. But I never go beyond pondering over those who have already died. By God’s love they are with Him in heaven or by His perfect justice, they are not. I know that when I finally take on my incorruptible body I will never even have one sorrowful thought about those who are not with me.

Revelation 21: 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. ---ESV

"Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, has seen a recent resurgence in homegrown militancy and police said the family who carried out Sunday’s attacks were among 500 Islamic State sympathizers who had returned from Syria.
“The husband drove the car, an Avanza, that contained explosives and rammed it into the gate in front of that church,” East Java police spokesman Frans Barung Mangera told reporters at the regional police headquarters in Surabaya.
The wife and two daughters were involved in an attack on a second church and at the third church “two other children rode the motorbike and had the bomb across their laps”, Mangera said." ( May13:2018).

I heartily agree Dr Tim.

I always say, why set your hopes high to see them fail? Its better to set your hopes low, and then when it doesn't go as you would like, your not disappointed. But, if it DOES go better then you thought, then it's a pleasant surprise.

Chris, there is no biblical admonition for us to be positive all the time. As a matter of fact, I thought about starting a pessimists’ club—but I figured it would just be a huge failure anyway.

Chris, I believe there is Biblical direction to weep with them who weep -- Romans 12:15.

Hang in there, Brother. You know goats are conservatives because they begin butting heads as soon as they can walk.
