344* Chinese Christian Leaders—and Counting—Sign Joint Statement Affirming Religious Freedom

On August 30, 2018, a group of Chinese Christian pastors and leaders issued a joint statement, A Declaration for the Sake of Christian Faith. This statement comes at a time of increasing tension between the Chinese government and China’s Christian community. And many believe this marks a significant moment in the country’s church and state relations.

Since the official “Regulations on Religious Affairs” came into effect on February 1, 2018, the state has enforced a dramatic tightening of controls over religious matters. The new regulations have emboldened relevant governmental departments in charge of religion, and a fresh wave of attacks on religious gatherings, places of worship, and individuals have since erupted. ...

For the past few years (let's say 2011) the persecution was light, hence why you have so many underground churches and pastors coming out now, they could have buildings without much problems. The persecution that we saw were the removal of crosses from catholic churches, and putting up the countries national flags, and installing cameras at the entrances. The persecution happening now is destruction of registered churches, and putting up idols of communists inside the church. The grip is getting stronger, the squeeze tighter, the escalation of persecution quicker.

And the underground church did struggle with communism, and racism, hence why it's reaping what it sowed. Very few mainland Chinese Christians cared for anyone but China. And that is a FACT.

For years the home church movement has been persecuted by the Chinese communists. And for years, and I’ve seen the commentary on this site,” why the home church movement is just full of charismatic hooligans “, The same line the ChiComms say, why even the RCC is giddy with their marriage with the chicomms also. So which is it, is this a persecuted church or are they just hooligans? Or, since our government isn’t shutting down Jonny Mac or any pastor waltzing out of a conservative reformed church, why bother.

the churches linked directly to the local police station.

However, shockingly, far from from making a stand like these brave Chinese pastors and church leaders, our so-called evangelical pastors, church leaders and congregations here in the West, are lining up like ninepins to fall in with the political correctness of the day.

Sermons are self-censored to remove any idea of the 2nd Coming of the Lord, God’s righteousness, the solid doctrines of the Uniqueness and Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, Hell and judgment, holiness, the sufficiency of scripture, and so on.

Practicing LGBTQ and Transgender people are now to be accepted as full members, and even leaders of the church. A subtle and often not so subtle Universalism is being preached along with environmentalism, dialogue with other faiths, “social justice” aka “the social gospel”, combined with contemplative prayer, “Christian yoga”, and suchlike practices.

This is combined with rock style CCM, entertainment, sugary motivational messages, pragmatism, doctrine denying modern Bibles and so on.

What a contrast to the Chinese pastors! May the Lord help us to learn from these faithful men!

This bold and clear statement by over 150 Chinese evangelical pastors, ministers, elders and missionaries from various evangelical and Reformed churches, from the non-state affiliated house and underground churches, makes a tremendous contrast to many so-called evangelical churches in USA, Britain and many other Western nations.

Here we do not have churches being raided and even demolished, or thrown out of rented buildings because landlords are being pressurised by state authorities, crosses taken down by state order, pastors and church elders and even ordinary members being harassed, discriminated against, and forbidden even to travel due to low “social credit” as decided by the government.

We do not have Sunday schools being forcibly closed down, youth camps raided by police, Bibles and hymn books being seized and burnt by the authorities. We do not have the Internet being censored by the government, Bibles and books are freely available for sale and distribution, and services can be streamed live.

We do not have the government insisting on appointing our pastors, approving our sermons, directing theological colleges and seminaries, taking away our children to state approved foster families for forceful atheistic education, and insisting on intrusive CCTV cameras in t

Really an excellent statement. Unfortunately, I would not be surprised if the Chinese government ignores it.
SA article wrote:
1. Christian churches in China believe unconditionally that the Bible is the Word and Revelation of God. It is the source and final authority of all righteousness, ethics, and salvation. If the will of any political party, the laws of any government, or the commands of any man directly violate the teachings of the Bible, harming men’s souls and opposing the gospel proclaimed by the church, we are obligated to obey God rather than men, and we are obligated to teach all members of the church to do the same....

This is a really good and encouraging article, I think for the first time (at least for me) we have a clear statement of faith, which was always missing from other articles that were highlighting the persecution.

I truly believe these believers were always bold, but some western news sites wanted to paint them in a different light, make it politically motivated rather than spiritually and theologically.
