What Are Evangelicals Afraid of Losing?
nd yet, swinging from triumphalism to seething despair, many pastors are conveying to the wider, watching public a faith in political power that stands in sharp opposition to everything we say we believe in. To many of our neighbors, the court chaplains appear more like jesters.

Something tremendous is at stake here: whether evangelical Christians place their faith more in Caesar and his kingdom than in Christ and his reign. On that one, we do have everything to lose—this November and every other election cycle. When we seek special political favors for the church, we communicate to the masses that Christ’s kingdom is just another demographic in the US electorate.

Let’s face it. Liberal and conservative, Catholic and Protestant, have courted political power and happily allowed themselves to be used by it. This always happens when the church confuses the kingdom of Christ with the kingdoms of ...

Maybe I have a short memory span, but do you remember seeing a story like this during the regime of Barrack Hussein Obama?
There were many churches and pastors saying wonderful things about his government, how finally the US was acting humanely in the world, with humility instead of Teddy Roosevelt's Big Stick, giving away hundreds of millions of dollars to 'poor' people in the country, and so on and so on. I leave it to your memory to add all the ways different churches, pastors, ministers, etc. heaped up the praise on the last US Administration, and no one called it into question. No one said what this article says.
Bottom line: it's all about the current President Donald Trump. He is favored by the people, not by the people in power, not even his own party. He is the famous 'bull in the china shop' upsetting things that have been done this way all these years, like going to talk to the North Korean dictator, which resulted in the end of missiles being launched freely over Japan (with no thanks from Japan, by the way), and their weapons research work being shut down. The US economy is doing better, with more people employed than ever.
No, this is not good for the 'intellectuals-yet-idiots' that populate nearly every college in the country, and many many 'think tanks' that

I hope all is well in the UK. If I may ask, which part are you residing? I have some relatives over in England, and was curious if you were anywhere near them.
It looks as though SA has already taken some action. Not that it will make any difference, it's like talking to a baby.

Yes bro I was born and brought up in jolly ol' England, and until the last 13 years have lived in Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Cornwall, West Somerset, Devon, Suffolk and Dorset - all counties in England. Then I moved to Pembrokeshire in Wales, and it was like an old steamer coming into harbour to be laid up. But the Lord has had other plans, and has found me plenty to do, more than I have ever done before. To his name be glory and thanksgiving.

He has nil interest in edifying, rather he is waging a psychological warfare, the sort which requires years and years of continual work, saying the same things over and over. This is why I believe SA ought to ban him PERMANENTLY, not only for the good of Christians, but for his sake as well; it may stir in him a realisation how serious this matter is.

Aww, Kenny, you are too kind.

For those who may not have seen it,, SA sent Jim a sharp rebuke and warning in the Dallas Billboard thread. Hopefully he will adhere to their wishes.

What we need to do is to get a petition going for the PERMANENT BAN of Jim Lincoln. As a lot of you guys have said, he doesn't bring anything to the conversation, just sowing discord among the brethren.
Maybe they could even block those websites he copy/paste's from, from ever being able to be put on here in the comment section.

JAG, I know you're right, but Jim is exactly like a naughty little boy trying to get attention, and my admittedly carnal reaction to that sort of behavior is to want to grab the little fella and, as we say here in the South, tear his tail up. I try to ignore him, but my ignorer seems to be defective.

Simple...

Jim Lincoln's post don't need to exist. If they are completely disregarded they won't matter to anybody, because no one will read them.
I personally have not read his post since I came here. So much so, that when someone gets heated about something he wrote, I have to go down a look for what it was. If there is a universal "no acknowledgement" stance he becomes irrelevant. And everyone else can focus on the edification of others who care...

Thanks Kenny, and I get what you're saying, I do, but for every person that someone might take issue with, there are ten others who fill the gap, and override those concerns. There are those whose comments I almost always gloss over because I'm just not interested, or for whatever reasons, and I have no doubt that there are those who have no interest in much that I have to say either, but there's so much from others to read, ponder over, learn from, and discuss. I would have been long gone from here if my presence and participation was conditional upon not being bothered by anyone's particular views, focus, time spent on posting comments or the sheer frequency of those comments, etc.

Hey, I guess it's just my own personal opinion, and how I see it. I guess I really have no business trying to dictate how you, yourself decide to handle anything, and do what you feel is best for you. I guess I was just trying to grasp why a single person would cause anyone to sign off and steer clear when there's so much/many more/others, but again, none of my business, really, now that I've given it some more thought.

Christopher000, I started participating in these SA threads from the get-go many (20?) years ago when SA began. There were mostly edifying, lively discussions until Jim showed up on EVERY SINGLE THREAD posting loooong, cut & paste quotes from various sources (usually Gil Rugh or someone else no one cares about) along with some snarky, sarcastic comment that derailed the discussion (I believe that was his intention) and made a general mess of things. This ain't 'Jim Lincoln Audio', it's SermonAudio and this ought to be an arena for discussing various topics in the news, not Jim Lincoln's usually mindless, lazy plagiary. I still read the SA 'News' articles every morning and occasionally scroll down to the comments. Sure enough, there's Jim's claptrap. No man on earth can possibly have that much free time.
You keep coming here. You'll see.
And thank the Lord for John in the UK.

So, I'm in a little bit of a mood, and maybe shouldn't even be posting, but it would probably come out the same way anyway...

I can't even remember how many times I've read someone saying that they are never coming back here again because of what one, single person said to them, because they saw two people having a heated discussion that didn't even involve them, because one person disagreed with something they posted, or because they don't like the things that one person happens to post, or the frequency, etc., etc.

Sure makes a lot of sense...sure does. Do you church hop every time someone looks at someone funny, or says something they don't quote agree with? Pack up and move when a neighbor doesn't say, hello, to another neighbor? Boycott your favorite store when you witness a random clerk be rude to some stranger?

Silly examples for silly reasons to boycott an entire news forum; a forum filled with many who contribute in unique and edifying ways, and all over not caring for how one, single person comments, the content of those comments, or the frequency? I've seen it many times, and it seems awfully extreme...just bypass reading comments from anyone you don't care to read. Seems reasonable, but to boycott an entire forum? Sorry, makes no sense to me.

Kenny, it is good to see you posting again bro, and I wish you would continue, in order to edify your brethren. Before the end of the year, it would be good if all of us would report directly to Steve Lee concerning one poster who NEVER edifies with any of his posts, and who continually promotes liberal politics. I personally never read any of his posts because I know from past experience it is a waste of my time.

Friends, I know that Jim has many to most of us upset at any given time. It does appear to be his agenda.

My theory is that something terrible happened to him in his formative years, perhaps at the hands of the RC which garners as much hatred as conservatives.

At worst, he is looking for opportunities to be decisive and disruptive. At best, he just a work in progress like any of the rest of us.

No amount of argument or witnessing seems to phase him.

It is clear that this person has not had the same advantages as the rest of us. Please join me in praying for him over the next 24 hours. Perhaps the Lord will honor our prayer and heal him.

Jim; You talk about Grace; But How has Grace caused you to mourn over your own evil that is with in your own self?

Pro 20:9 Who can say, “I have made my heart clean, I am
pure from my sin”?

Jim; Ever so reflective of you; Mat15:8 This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoreth Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

Phil 3:7-8 But what things were gain to me, those I counted as loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, & I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things & count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

Hey Kenny!

None of us will ever know Jim’s true purpose or agenda on this forum. I once accused him of being a paid troll, but he refused to comment, yes or no. He isn't an RC troll, but a democratic political troll. Anyway, I hope that you don’t allow him to dissuade you from posting. If you do, then he has in fact won to a certain degree. Some confront him on a consistent basis and that is good. I prefer to confront him only when I think that he might confuse some person who has stopped by to see the posts; mostly on the issue of abortion and politics.

Nice seeing you posting.

I don't know if he's a plant, or merely a weed, Kenny. Either way, the Bible has a three-word description of him: "a pestilent fellow" (Acts 24:5). By the way, I enlisted in Marietta and did two tours of duty at the Naval Air Station that used to be there.
