Mormons Claiming to Be the Only True Church With New Name
Albert Mohler Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, has explained that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' name change announcement holds a theological significance evangelicals should be aware of.
Last week, the religious group's President Russell M. Nelson announced that they would no longer use shortened names like "Mormon" and "LDS Church" to identify themselves.
This announced name change has garnered many questions on implementation, especially since there are many notable entities like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir that might be affected....
Not to worry, NeedHim! Now that I am the only true Pope, I can absolve JY of all his sins--for a nominal fee, of course. (Does anyone know the Latin way of saying "Sins are absolved when savings accounts are dissolved "?)
Mormonism is a Cult pure and simple because it does not worship the biblical and historical Jesus as God. The Mormon Cult jesus is the brother of Satan. The Mormon Cult worships a multiplicity of gods.
Now that I've changed my name to Plain Old Tim, I want everyone to know that I am the only true Pope, Mahdi and Dolly Llama (not to be confused with the Dalai Lama, that pipsqueak of an imposter). Please send tithes and offerings to Plain Old Tim, 12345 Possum Trot Lane, Possum Hollow, USA. Offerings are not tax deductible, but I will send you a prayer handkerchief as soon as I can get the boogers off of it.
The Mormons / LDS (Latter Day Sinners, but not Latter Day Saints), and I will continue to refer to them as Mormons / LDS with that in mind, were until recently trying to be accepted as just another âChristianâ denomination, and tragically some big evangelical names were falling for this deception.
It seems with this new President Nelson in charge, he has decided that the Mormons / LDS must go back to their original roots as claiming to be the only true and now ârestoredâ church of Jesus Christ on earth.
I guess they will have to make an exception for the very famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir, as it is too much of a money spinner to change its name arbitrarily to, I suppose the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Tabernacle Choir!!! A bit too much of a mouthful for the money and recording people!!!
"Mormons understand what it means for Jesus to be "the Son of God" in a way that differs radically from orthodox Christianity. When they say they believe he is "literally" the Son of God, the significance of this qualification will be lost on most people. Mormons believe that God the Father is an immortal Man and that he is the literal father of Jesus Christ "in the flesh," just as Mary is his literal mother"
"It is peculiar that the LDS Church did not directly address the question of the divinity of Jesus. In their view, Jesus is Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament, and yet he is a different God than Elohim, the Father, and will always be subordinate to him. Mormons do not pray to Jesus. In their view, Jesus, and all other human beings, and all angels, existed in the distant past as the spirit offspring of our heavenly parents (God the Father and his wife); Jesus is simply our Elder Brother and the first of God's children to become a God himself." christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2007/december/mormonism-incarnation-and-why-it-matters.html
As I have studied Mormonism for years now & regularly in gage with Mormon missionaries & others who are Mormons. The name of the Church that its being currently used now, wasnât its original starting title name. But in witnessing purposes in my opinion that is a secondary issues, as salvation questions or how does one get grace in Mormonism, or questions about who God is & isnât are far more important questions. That are more Meat & Potatoes questions.
Good reminder how do we test Prophets & their truth claims; Deut 18:20-22 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I havenât commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.â & if you say in your heart, âHow may we know the word that the Lord hasnât spoken?ââ when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word doesnât come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord hasnât spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need nât be afraid of him.
The official name change to Latte-a-day saints, per top level sources, came not from holy writ which they don't have, but due to the abundant 'holy' grounds sourced from a free trade farmer and his wives in Salt Lake.
The Quiet Christian wrote: Others have falsely made that claim, including Family Radio's Harold Camping. Truth may be dead in the streets but the Lord is still on His throne. He holds these heretics in derision.
True, QC, they still have the same beliefs when everyone called them Mormons--and still do.
