The Bible remains a 'powerful, transformative tool' in American culture: Poll
The Bible remains a fixture in American culture and lifestyle according to the “State of the Bible” report, an annual poll conducted by the Barna Group, a California-based research organization, and the American Bible Society.

“The results show that, despite shifting cultural trends, Americans still read the Word, and it remains a powerful, transformative tool in their life. These and other snapshots are included in our list of top seven findings from this year’s State of the Bible report,” the survey said.

Overall, half of Americans are “Bible users” — they read it, pray with it or consider biblical content through online or recorded forms. The survey found that Bible use has remained relatively consistent since 2011. ...

Well, I didn't expect the American Bible Society to pay for a poll that would show something negative about the Bible.

The source of the news item is the Washington Times, which many doubt as a serious news organization since it was founded by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon of South Korea.

It would have been more interesting to come from the Pew Research group, but it couldn't, because they don't want to publish anything that would make the Bible look good.

I guess the real issue is..how do you apply it? Take the immigration issue today..some say, how you can not see the verses in the Old Testament about caring for the foreigners in your land, etc. On the other hand, these same people will defend abortion. So who do they really care for? It looks like future Democrat voters to me.

The good news is that if these poll results are accurate, it means that the Bible is being opened and read. That was an important way the Lord lead me to Himself. His word does not return to Him void but accomplishes His will. Isaiah 55 pertains. May the Lord be pleased to continue to send His word to call people to Himself in repentance and faith.

Yet, biblical illiteracy is still problematic. Systematic bible teaching is not the norm. The catchy “ I can do all things”, at a pep rally is as useful as “ mission accomplished “. Bible reading, should transform and mold, not just be a doodlling book. But, at my age, if you want to doodle in your genuine preather tiny print bible, go at it girls.
How I wish for a man sized, wide margin thick leather bible, heavy enough to knock some common sense into my knuckleheaded son in law , into salvation that is.

Interesting comment John of UK.

Acts 15:15-19
And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written, After this I will return, and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it, that the remnant of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who makes these things known from of old. Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God,

There are other countries which also have a large population of nominal Christians and very few remnants. But then remnant is comparatively few by definition.
