Nearly Half of Americans Battling to Lose Weight

An estimated 49.1 percent of American adults battled to lose weight from 2013 to 2016, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with those between 40 and 59 years doing the most huffing and puffing.

Exercise, eating less, consuming more fruits and vegetables and drinking more water were the most common strategies. The least common were skipping meals and cutting down on fatty foods.

Guess it depends on your height, John. For every ounce of fat, the body needs to grow a network of new capillaries for additional blood flow, so the more fat there is, the harder the heart needs to work full time. This is a top reason why the obese are such high risk.

I don't think that I have to lose weight even though I way about 305 pounds. I have Hypertension and Irregular Heart Rate but those are kept under control by medication.

Among industrialized countries, S. Korea and Japan are far less obese (by %-age) than Yanks and Brits, despite intrusions by American fast food chains and nutritionally dubious Ramen noodles.

Definitely food for thought, Neil. The problem isn't always overeating, however. As we have shifted from an agrarian society to a much more sedentary lifestyle, weight gain is a natural consequence of a lack of physical activity.

Ironic how pulpit-thumping preachers have railed against drunkenness for generations, but hardly ever against gluttony, as if the blinders were on with Deut. 21:20 and Prov. 23:21. Instead, they joke about potlucks.

Whole counsel of God, anyone? The solution starts between your ears.

Maybe we will see the Center for Disease Control visiting all churches Wednesday night suppers to check for healthy ingredients.
By the way, as an add on to my previous comment about Harvard researchers; I forgot to add that Big Sugar paid them to do studies that would show fat as the main problem in the diet.
So people changed to eating low-fat food that were high in sugars!

Come on Dr Tim. If I stop getting the Oppossum Helper for dinner I'll have to go back to tv dinners. And I've tried the fried okra. I prefer gumbo, crayfish, jambalaya over that stuff.

And quit buying all those boxes of Possum Helper, JAG. All that pasta and sauce are the ingredients for instant weight gain. Have you tried whole grain fried okra? Very healthy.

the latest issue of Newsmax has an article about how sugar plays a big role in this, and that the sugar industry has paid off Harvard researchers to debunk any evidence to show this.
even the American Diabetes Assoc. has no information on studies they've paid for that shows a connection between sugar consumption and diabetes!

you ruin the endocrine system of a child with injections.... fill them with heavy metals (endocrine disruptors, ie flouride, aluminum, lead, mercury, plus formaldehyde type stuff from the asptme put into all the gums)....then take out iodine....

....they will never be able to be thin....

then as they are low immune system from above, as they get ill fill them with antibiotics (we are now in the post antibiotic age where they are failing and having to be made stronger and more harmful for any effect) which kill the gut flora....

and the gut is where 80 plus percent of the hormone production happens....

...and not have the mothers feeding them traditional probiotics where every meal, which replenish the flora, which are essential for all these functions in the various organs....

....then you have a sick society due to its own unrepentant practices.

add to that that bill gates openly states abortion and vaccns meant to depopulate the world

add to that the abortionist that told me that gms would "make them sick" that they are "cattle to be herded to the cities"

...it all makes very clear sense.

to everyone, unless their eyes are glued shut.

Weight is easier to put on than get off. It's like backsliding, it's easier to backslide than recover from it.
