Hillsong’s Joel Houston Calls Evolution ‘Undeniable’
Houston, who sings with Hillsong UNITED and is lead pastor of Hillsong NYC, was answering a Twitter question from a fan about the song “So Will I,” which references evolution in the line, “A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath; evolving in pursuit of what You said.”

“Evolution is undeniable—created by God as a reflective means of displaying nature’s pattern of renewal in pursuance of God’s Word—an ode to the nature of the creative God it reflects—and only ever in part—not the SOURCE!” he wrote on Twitter Monday. “Science and faith aren’t at odds. God created the Big-Bang.” ...

I ran into an interesting article on the Hillsong Church. It has a lot of interesting details on this Pentecostal organization. Some of it you might even consider good even being Pentecostal but the end of the article should give everyone pause.
Maria Tallarico wrote:
... Still, the worldly prosperity of Hillsong can’t be denied: it is estimated that the Church has made $100 million in capital in a single year as a result of record and book sales and the standard ask of a 10% tithe. Pastor salaries are not disclosed, and no “vow of poverty” is taken. Also a hot topic: how much the international pastors take home in “love offerings” for speaking appearances (reported to be $30-40,000 a pop). Salvation might be free, but YSL sure isn’t.

The article is good and very detailed. Find out the things you did or didn't want to know about the Hillsong organization.

It’s helpful to have someone to help you understand and be a warning as well.
I may be wrong, Dolores, but I've always regarded backlash as a fruit of the sinful nature. Some say that we either react or respond.

Yes indeed about leaving first love. I am convinced this is the prime cause of low spirituality in any disciple of Christ. And it is not easy to return to it. Our Lord never makes it easy to backslide, lest we be always at it.

I must just mention this, Dolores. It has, as a subject, come up recently, and most relevant to what we are talking about. Namely, the battle we all have as Christians between the flesh and the Spirit.

Whenever Jesus spoke, his words were "spirit and life" because he was always filled with the Spirit, and every moment of every day he was walking in the Spirit, and spoke those things the Father wanted him to speak.

Alas, with us, we sometimes walk in the Spirit, and sometimes in the flesh. We still have a remnant of the old nature, which thing we hate, but God will not take it away until we die and go to heaven.

So, not all things we say will be "of the Spirit" and of infinite value. We are fallen creatures, and still capable of speaking "fallen" words. In such circumstances, our words will not even be worth two cents.

But walking "in the Spirit", our words will be "spirit and life" and of great value, even like pearls.

Hi Penned, thanks for sharing that it is something to be concerned about. All these preachers going astray is unbelievable!! At least we are on the same page and in agreement on most things.
John Uk, that’s so encouraging about our words whether written or spoken are from the Spirit of God and worth way more than 2cents. I have to battle the enemy over that one.I only speak what is from my heart and then worry that it will be taken the wrong way. If I can be uplifted by others on here then God must want me to speak His Word as well. You know I thought exactly as you do about Tozer giving a “prophetic “ message to the Church today as he spoke about it in the 50s because he died of a heart attack around 1965. I kept thinking it sounds so much like our churches today only it has to be much worse in today’s world!!

Actually, Dolores, I know what you are saying, but think on this. Anyone who is indwelt by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, is a partaker of the divine nature, and as such, whenever they open their mouth to speak (or type on their keyboard) are capable of words that are an infinite times more precious than two cents.

I know that you always seek the leading of the Spirit before posting, so I am hoping the Spirit will lead you more and more to share with others the wonderful love of Jesus, and the joy it is to follow him.

Revival.

Miss sharing with others as well that I don’t always agree with. Now that SBC has a new president that is progressive in his beliefs I am very concerned . I have a big problem with the newer songs that are sung in our church with the band and loudness of the music. It doesn’t have a worshipful feeling to me. I agree with A.W. Tozer about how our churches are today not much Spirit but more entertainment. To bring in the younger generation is the purpose I’m told. So no one complains much anymore. So when I read the books by A.W. Tozer and his “Mornings With Tozer “devotionals, I feel understood!!
Tozer never owned a car from what I have read about him but used public transportation instead. Can’t accuse him of being wealthy or worldly or pastor of a mega church. He wrote several books but most or maybe all the proceeds went back into his ministry or missions. So I can understand where he is coming from. I have listened to his sermons here on SA.
Dolores, good to see you posting, sister. And yes, it is a shame what is happening in your own church; it just don't work. I came across the Tozer devotionals on BibleGateway; that is a great site! I would go so far as to say that Tozer had a prophetic NT ministry to the church; but just as former prophets were ignored, so it seems is he by the vast majority.

Where adequate power is present almost any means will suffice, but where the power is absent not all the means in the world can secure the desired end. The Spirit of God may use a song, a sermon, a good deed, a text or the mystery and majesty of nature, but always the final work will be done by the pressure of the inliving Spirit upon the human heart.

In the light of this it will be seen how empty and meaningless is the average church service today. All the means are in evidence; the one ominous weakness is the absence of the Spirit's power. The form of godliness is there, and often the form is perfected till it is an aesthetic triumph. Music and poetry, art and oratory, symbolic vesture and solemn tones combine to charm the mind of the worshiper, but too often the supernatural afflatus is not there. The power from on high is neither known nor desired by pastor or people. This is nothing less than tragic, and all the more so because it falls within the field of religion where the eternal destinies of men are involved. The Pursuit of Man, 90,91. AW Tozer

It is right to grumble at Hillsong, but even better to grumble at myself, if I have not the power of the Spirit flowing through me to others.

Honestly, who cares.

We shouldn't be surprised when the world believes what the world pushes. I am more concerned when the little children in the church are confused about where did the dinosaurs come from and are we related to monkeys than what some wolf in sheep's clothing take on evolution

Evil-evolution = Macro-evolution via of the goo, to the zoo, via of you, is fairy tells for grownups, lol.

The God of Macro-evolution is the God of Time, at the end of the day the true issues. Is with ones Pet Sins, that have them held into moral corruption of bondage in being a loyal Slave to the appeasing acts of unrighteousness.

O’ how the chains of bondage are & can only be broken by Christ setting the captive free & indeed amen.

It is 'undeniable' that Joel Houston is not a Bible believing Christian.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

Gen 1:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."

** BTW God does not need billions of years to create.

Gen 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good."
