Church sued for refusing to host LGBT event

The former manager of an event center owned by a Catholic church is suing the church because it had a morals clause in its contract banning LGBT events.

The dispute began three years ago when a group of African-American LGBT activists asked to use the Ambridge Event Center in Portland, Oregon.

The application was turned down because the center is owned by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The church had a morals clause in the agreement under which Holladay Investors was managing it the center. ...

To Never | ever's post 5/28/18 10:14 PM

“Only war will protect Christians. . . . Christianity would have disappeared like many other cults in history. This sickening pacifistic doctrine never existed in Christian history until the last few decades.”

First, Jesus said that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church.
Secondly, Christianity is not a cult.
Since the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, then we must first proclaim the word of God with conviction. We don’t know doctrine. We can’t in ignorance continue to fumble over what scripture means and allow ourselves to become sidetracked from the Gospel. I believe if we started within the church walls first and equipped believers with spiritual swords, then imaginations of the wicked would crumble. We haven’t done what is right first. That is to be doctrinally sound in our approaches and debates.
I am not bragging saying this, but when I go to PP, the universities, and food distribution centers, I am amazed at how many stop and listen. Furthermore, I have witnessed fruitfully in the PEWS. Often they say, “I never understood, or I never heard that before.” And I never hand out the tract until they show an interest. I explain what the tract means as well.

To God be the glory.

Actually, it could be argued that Catholics worship two deities: their version of the triune God, and Mary.
Firstly, let me say thanks to all that have commented on the issue being discussed.

Tim, your comment brought back old memories. I was raised catholic and I remember most of the prayers we recited were directed towards Mary. I remember being taught that if you wanted Jesus to do something, tell His mother because a son would always do what his mother asks him to do.

The RCC has made this wonderful woman who was chosen to birth the Messiah into a demon.

Your welcome! Just to clarify, I was not trying to say that their beliefs about the trinity were correct- just that the plain statement “There is One God in Three Persons” happens to be correct no matter the spiritual state of the person that says it. Sort of like “The sky is blue”.

Blessings!

Good points Frank and ladybug.

Roman Catholicism is a powerful tool in the enemies hand as it contains some truth and promotes moral principles.
It is a soul damning cult that knows not the Christ of the Scriptures or His saving Gospel.

Praise the Lord for those of us who were called out of that demonic darkness!!

It's good to see someone reveal what is wrong with the RCC's 'trinity'. Words are cheap and definitions often overlooked. Those who came out of the Satanic RCC understand the double talk it uses.

Catholics have a Theology that there is One God in Three Persons. So they have a theology and that particular point of their theology is true.
Okay, I will comment on their view of the trinity. Their God the Father is the same as the Muslim’s God. Their popes are on record for saying “we worship the same God”. Also, the Muslim god isn’t triune. So, He is not the same.

Their God the Son didn’t die on the cross once and for all time for the sins of the redeemed. Their redeemed must constantly and sacramentally maintain their salvation. And of course they teach that our Savior has a mother who is with Him in heaven. I would say their redeemer isn't the same.

This is exactly the point I was trying to make. They use the same terms, but their definitions are different.

And yes, they even say they are saved by grace, but not the grace that scripture notes.

But, thanks for your comment.

I would answer that as an organizational entity they have done nothing- with the caveat that in God’s providence He can possibly use individuals who are at emnity with Him as unwilling tools to draw His Elect to Himself.

The original charge was that they “don’t do morals. (Or Bible. Or Christian. Or theology.... et al)”. I realize that this was likely said in jest, but Connor’s point about accuracy is valid. Theology is the study of God. Atheist’s have a Theology that God does not exist. Pantheists have a Theology that god is everything. Catholics have a Theology that there is One God in Three Persons. So they have a theology and that particular point of their theology is true.

Now, “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”~ James 2:19. So, the factual points of their theology don’t make them any better off than devils, but it does exist.

I think Conner was simply saying is that there is enough legitimate evil and wrong in the RCC that we do not need to make up accusations against them. They quite obviously teach both morals and theology. Some of the things they teach also happen to be objectively true. To say otherwise is a matter of bearing false witness, not lacking discernment. Even broken clocks are right twice a day, and acknowledging that fact is not the same as suggesting we should schedule our day by broken clocks.
Well not to speak for anyone else, but I believe the RCC is satan's church on this earth because they have led the most people astray.

Now, let me ask you a question. What have they ever done or said that drew anyone closer to Christ? If you can't name anything, then we are basically on the same page.

There is no theological concept they have that is godly. If you want to note one, then I will give my thoughts on that particular one.

As stated in my previous post. “Discernment is sorely lacking ...”

To give any credence to a religious cult that deceives its members concerning the most critical issue of their lives~ how sinners can be reconciled to a Holy God, shows a serious lack of discernment or we have a wolf in our midst.

Last one.
Good evening.

The battle is spiritual -
'"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" Eph. 6
"Therefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" the "stand" is the opposite of a slothful sleep or a cowardly flight. We have that illustrated in the case of the Apostles. In Gethsemane they did not "stand," but lay down and slept at the post of duty. No wonder that a little later they all "forsook Him and fled" (Matt. 26:56)! I want you to notice that we are not here told to advance. We are only ordered to "stand." God has not called His people to an aggressive war upon Satan, to invade his territory, and seek to wrest from him what is his; but He has told us to occupy the ground which He has allotted us.'- read more at http://gracegems.org/Pink/christians_armor.htm

Only war will protect Christians from being abused by Antichrist atheists and any other wicked totalitarian. It is the only thing in the last 2000 years that has ever protected them. If it wasn't for Christians in the past 2000 years amassing their own armies to protect themselves, Christianity would have disappeared like many other cults in history. This vile "turn the other cheek" pacifism doctrine is THE reason modern Christianity will disappear from all western countries, it is the very reason that evil spreads and takes over. This sickening pacifistic doctrine never existed in Christian history until the last few decades.

“Beware of supposing that a teacher of religion is to be trusted, because although he holds some unsound views, he yet ‘teaches a great deal of truth.’ Such a teacher is precisely the man to do you harm: poison is always most dangerous when it is given in small doses and mixed with wholesome food. Beware of being taken in by the apparent earnestness of many of the teachers and upholders of false doctrine. Remember that zeal and sincerity and fervor are no proof whatever that a man is working for Christ, and ought to believed." from https://www.monergism.com/blog/15-key-quotes-jc-ryle’s-“warnings-churches
