Parent Outraged After School Gives Students Worksheet on Writing Islamic Faith Declaration
A Christian parent in West Virginia has voiced outrage after his seventh-grade daughter brought home a packet from her social studies class this week that includes a page asking students to practice writing the Islamic declaration of faith in Arabic calligraphy.
Rich Penkoski, a conservative Christian who runs an online ministry called Warriors for Christ, contacted Principal Ron Branch at Mountain Ridge Middle School in Gerrardstown to voice his concerns about the packet on Islam that was given out as part of the class' world religions unit.
While the packet went into detail about the history of Islam, the prophet Muhammad and the five pillars of the religion, Penkoski was most upset with a worksheet toward the end of the packet that instructs students to practice calligraphy by copying the Arabic form of the Shahada by hand....
Not only that, 2Cent, but what really got me steaming was one of the threads that this thoughtless, and careless, ad clicking spammer chose to throw it up into. Here, nine children and one adult tragically lost their lives today, with who knows how many more are critically injured and fighting to live as I type this. Their loved ones expected them to be sitting around the dinner table on this very night, but instead, are stricken at this very moment with inconsolable grief. Then, you got this creep trying to get everyone here to follow a link that'll probably make him $0.05 richer.
Little by little, line upon line, precept upon precept, and Islam thinks it will win the battle. But they are not taking into account that Jesus Christ the Lord is GOD ALMIGHTY who will overthrow the wicked at his coming.
James L. Barton wrote: The value and worth of any religion is revealed by its effect upon life. Expressions of belief, be they ever so beautiful and perfect, are meaningless and without value if they fail to make beautiful and more perfect the lives of those whose belief they seem to voice. This is the test Christ puts, upon creed and religion as applied to His own followers, and the standard of performance has never been improved upon. The value of a religion cannot be measured by its influence upon the life of the individual believer only, for every adequate. religion must take into consideration communities of men and women, living in relation to each other. Any religion therefore that does not exalt human relationships and make more Godlike human society in all of its diverse and complicated organizations cannot be adequate for the world....

James L. Barton wrote: It is, however, fair and just to demand that of any religion, professing to be adequate to meet the needs of men, shall so reveal in its adherents a power for good in both individuals and in society that the only fair conclusion would be, that, if this religion should become general it would benefit mankind. Any religion that meets this test must pass as a good religion; but if it aspires to become a universal religion, it must show that it is capable of meeting the needs of humanity in all relationships more completely than any other religion can do. Islam claims to be not only a good religion but the best religion for the world, hence the necessity of showing that it is best suited to the conditions and needs of all men and in all of their varied relationships. Christianity is compelled meet the same tests as must any other religion....

Reverend Barton showed how Islam failed various tests to meet the above requirements
The above article is a good one for showing children and teachers the inadequacy of Islam!
If it's a public school the student has the right to say "No, it violates my religious devotion" although if she's in 7th grade, that's a good time to learn about other religions, but the calligraphy thing is a bit much.
